ABSTRAK

Natsir (G2I1 15 024). Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah MatematisSiswa SMP Melalui Pendekatan Saintifik Problem Posing.Dibimbing oleh Kadir (Pembimbing I) dan Hafiludin Samparadja (Pembimbing II).

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis penting untuk dimiliki oleh setiapsiswa agar mampu menyesuaikan diri dalam berbagai situasi kehidupan danmampu menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi. Kemampuan pemecahan masalahmatematis siswa SMP Negeri 12 Kendari masih rendah. Penyebabnya adalahproses pembelajaran matematika di kelas kurang meningkatkan kemampuanberpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui:(1) deskripsi keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran pendekatan saintifik problemposing dan saintifik; (2) deskripsi aktivitas belajar siswa selama pelaksanaanpembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing dan pendekatansaintifik; (3) deskripsi kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yangdiajar dengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing dan pendekatan saintifik; (4)peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah diajardengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing; (5) peningkatan kemampuanpemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah diajar dengan pendekatan saintifik;dan (6) perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswaantara yang diajar dengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing dan yang diajardengan pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian ini mengggunakan desain pretest-posttestcontrol group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIIISMP Negeri 12 Kendari semester genap tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Sampelpenelitian diambil dua kelas dengan teknik purposive sampling. Untuk menentukankelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menggunakan teknik simple random sampling.Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifikproblem posing dan kelas kontrol diajar dengan pendekatan saintifik. Instrumenyang digunakan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan lembarobservasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistikinferensial pada 0,05.α Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Aktivitas gurupada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing dan pendekatansaintifik sudah terlaksana dengan baik; (2) Aktivitas siswa pada pembelajarandengan pendekatan saintifik problem posing terlaksana dengan baik; (3)Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelas yang diajar denganpendekatan pembelajaran saintifik problem posing dan siswa yang diajar denganpendekatan saintifik masih berada pada kategori rendah. (4) Terdapat peningkatankemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa setelah diajar dengan pendekatansaintifik problem posing; (5) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahanmasalah matematis siswa setelah diajar dengan pendekatan saintifik; dan (6)Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diajar denganpendekatan saintifik problem posing lebih tinggi daripada peningkatan kemampuanpemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang diajar dengan pendekatan saintifik.

ABSTRACT

Natsir (G2I1 15 024), Improving Junior High Students’ Ability to Solve MathematicsProblem through Scientific Problem Posing Approach.Supervised by Kadir (Supervisor I) and Hafiludin Samparadja (Supervisor II).

Ability to solve mathematics problems is important for every student to possess in orderthan they can adapt to diverse life situations and solve problems they are encountering. Thestudents’ ability to solve mathematics problems in SMP Negeri 12 Kendari was still poor.This was due to the process of learning mathematics in class which failed to increasestudents’ high level of thinking. This study aimed to: (1) describe the extent to which theprocess of learning mathematics was implemented using scientific problem posing approachand scientific approach; (3) describe student’s learning activities during the application ofthe scientific problem posing approach and scientific approach; (3) describe mathematicsproblem solving ability demonstrated by students who learnt via scientific problem posingapproach and scientific approach; (4) the improvement of student’s ability to solvemathematics problem through scientific problem posing; (5) the improvement of student’sability to solve mathematics problem through scientific approach; and (6) the difference inthe ability to solve mathematics problems between the students who were taught using thescientific problem posing approach and those who were instructed in the scientific approach.The study uses the pretest-posttest control group design. Population of the study included allstudents of class VIII at SMP Negeri 12 Kendari in 2016/2017 academic years. Samples ofthe study were drawn from two classes by using the purposive sampling technique. Todetermine an experimental and a control class, a simple random sampling technique wasused. The experimental class was treated with scientific problem posing approach and thecontrol class with scientific approach. Instruments used in the study included a test of abilityto solve mathematics problems and observation sheets. Data were analyzed usingdescriptive statistics and inferential statistics at α = 0.05. Results showed that: (1) teacher’sinstructional activities in the scientific problem posing and scientific class run well; (2)students’ learning activities in the class which applied the scientific problem posingapproach run well; 3) the student’s ability to solve mathematics problem demonstrated bythe students who were taught using the problem posing with scientific approach and thosetaught using the scientific approach was within a category of low; (4) there was a significantincrease in the students’ ability to solve mathematic problem after they were taught using theproblem posing with scientific approach; (5) there was a significant increase in the students’ability to solve mathematic problem after they were taught using the scientific approach; and(6) the increase in the ability to solve mathematic problems possessed by the students whowere taught using the problem posing with scientific approach was higher than the increaseof the ability to solve mathematics problems gained by those who were taught using thescientific approach.
