Specific Goals
1. Continue to expand and improve transportation service to the metropolitanareas and nations at reasonable rates.
2. Secure with the support of other governmental units in the region, enablinglegislation for a Transit Authority or Authorities which would :
a. Serve as large; an area initially as is practical and be design ultimately forthe entire metropolitan region. Membership would include representatives of
the areas served.b. Study the technology of rapid transit to select the system or systems which
can best satisfy our needs.
c. Assume ownership and operation of the Dallas Transit System and extend itsservices to satisfy as many needs as the Authority cab justify economically.
d. See to it that Dallas and other municipalities protect and, if possiblepreserve at todays price, right-of-way for future rapid transit.
e. Consider subsidy of public transit by the metropolitan region.

world air center. Developed more private aircraft and short hop commercialfacilities.
4. Maintain a perpetual list of the communitys needs in communication and takeeffective action to assure postal, telephone, and telegraph services which meetthe needs.
5. Make available adequate taxi service in all parts of the city and at all hours.
6. Design transportation facilities and services to satisfy the needs of userswithout dissatisfying other people. For example, when transportation changesare needed sufficient right-of-way should be acquired to protect adjacent land.
