bermasalah ini adalah wacana yang memiliki dua kubu antara Pro dan Contra, antarapendukung issue dan penentang issue. Masalah yang dihadirkan dalam teks Discussionnantinya akan didiskusikan berdasarkan dua poin of tersebut, Pro dan Contra.

Tujuan Komunikarif Discussion Text

Tujuan komunikatif dari teks Discussion itu sendiri adalah unutk mengetengahkan suatumasalah atau issue yang ditinjau paling tidak dari dua sudut pandang, sebelum sampai padasuatu kesimpulan atau rekomendasi.

Generic Sturcture

Dalam Discussion text, terdapat empat stuktur kalimat pada discussion text sebagai bahanpembentuk teksnya, yaitu:

1. IssueIssue terletak di paragraph pertama yang berisi penempatan masalah atau issue yang akandidiskusikan.

2. Supporting PointsDalam bagian ini, penulis menghadirkan pendapat yang mendukung issue. Di setiap paragraphsupporting point terdiri dari dua komponen dianataranya adalah main idea dan elaborasi atauuraian dari main idea tersebut.

3.Contrasting PointsDalam bagian ini, penulis menghadirakan pendapat yang menentang issue. Seperti dalamparagraph supportin point, contrasting points juga menghadirkan dua komponen pembentuk

yaitu main idea dan elaborasi atau uraian ari main idea tersebut.

4. Conclunlusion or Recomendationdalam bagian ini penulis menghadirakan kesimpulan atau juga bisa rekomendari dari issue yangtelah didiskusikan.

The Advantage and Disadvantage of Nuclear Power

IssueNuclear power is generated by using uranium which is a metal mined in various part of the

world. The first large scale of nuclear power station was opened at Calder Hall in Cumbria,England in 1956.

Supporting Point

Some military ships and submarines have nuclear power plant for engine. Nuclear powerproduces around 11% of the world's energy needed, and produces huge amounts of energy. Itcause no pollution as we would get when burning fossil fuels. The advantages of nuclear plantare as follow:

It costs about the same coal, so it is not expansive to make. It does not produce smoke or carbon dioxide, so it does not contribute to the greenhouse

effect. It produces huge amounts of energy from small amount of uranium. It produces small amount of waste. It is reliable.

Contrasting PointOn the other hand, nuclear power is very, very dangerous. It must be sealed up and buried formany years to allow the radioactivity to die away. Furthermore, although it is reliable, a lot ofmoney has to be spent on safety because if it does go wrong, a nuclear accident ca be a majoraccident.

Conclusion or RecomendationPeople are increasingly concerned about this matter. In the 1990's nuclear power was the fastestgrowing source of power in many parts of the world.

Giving Children Homework; Pro and Con

There are a lot of discussion as to whether children should be given homework or not. Is itenough for children having time to study at school or needing additional time in home for study

after school time?

Some people claim that children do enough work in school already. They also argue that childrenhave their hobbies which they want to do after school, such as sport or music. A further point

they make is that a lot of homeworks are pointless and does not help the children learn at all.

However, there are also strong arguments against this point of view. Parents and teachers argue

that it is important to find out whether children can work on their own without the support fromthe teacher. They say that the evening is a good time for children to sit down and think about

what they have learned in school.

Furthermore they claim that the school day is too short to get anything done. It makes sense to

send home tasks like independent reading or further writing task which do not need the teachersupport.

I think, on balance, that some homework is good idea but that should only given at the weekendwhen children have more time.

The Pros and Cons of School Uniform

School uniforms are dress codes that are determined by the teaching institutions and students has to

follow the designed code obediently everyday. Many people believe that school uniforms should be

applied but the others don't.

Uniforms have various advantages for both the family and the child. A united school apparel can relief afinancial stress of the backs of many families. As kids tend to compete and imitate each other, the race

of following new trends in fashion or, providing different attire for every school day is considered a

financial burden, not every family can afford it.

Additionally, a uniform creates a sense of equality between all pupils. Young kids tend to judge others

according to their look and what they wear. Uniting their school attire will draw their attention to other

criteria and, the only advantage of one student over another would be personality, academic

achievement or being good at sports.

On the other hand, as repetition can lead to boredom, children can get frustrated of wearing same thing

to school every day. Also, prevent their first steps of individuality by taking away their right to choose

what to wear on their own free well.In conclusion, I believe uniforms arent meant to suppress the creativity or freedom of children. It helps

redirecting kids creativity towards more important things than outer look, and waive financial burden of

their families.
