Teaching Steps Low Tech and High Tech PRE-ACTIVITIES Guru melakukan Tanya jawab dengan siswa mengenai letak beberapa tempat atau ruangan yang ada di sekolah:

Where is the canteen in this school ? Suggested answer : It is near the parking lot. Is the canteen on the left side or on the right side of the parking lot? (sambil bertanya, guru dapat menjelaskan kata left dan right dengan gerakan tangan) How do you get to the canteen from here ?

Jika tidak ada siswa yg menjawab, guru dapat menjelaskan bagaimana untuk pergi ke kantin dari kelas dengan menggunakan ungkapan-ungkapan sebagai berikut:

turn left, turn right, go straight, go along this road, go ahead, go downstairs, go upstairs

MAIN ACTIVITIES 1. Guru memperkenalkan ungkapan-ungkapan yang biasa digunakan untuk menanyakan arah dan memberitahu arah suatu tempat Contoh : You can use the following expressions to ask for directions. Could you tell me the way to the police station ? Can you direct me to the fruit shop ? How do I get to the zoo ? Can you tell me where the hospital is please ? Do you know how to get to the nearest hotel ? I would like to go to the petrol station. Can you tell me how to get there ?

Below are some examples of the expressions you can use to give directions Go straight (go down/ go up) this road until you get to a one-way street Keep going until you see a traffic light Walk along this street until you get to the round about Turn left or right Take the first left turn on the T-junction Make a left turn on the crossroad Note: ketika menjelaskan ungkapan-ungkapan diatas, usahakan untuk menerapkannya dalam konteks, sehinggap ungkapan-ungkapan tersebut menjadi meaningful untuk para siswa 2. Guru memberi contoh sebuah ungkapan untuk menanyakan arah berikut jawabannya. Excuse me, can you tell me the way to the post office please ?

1. Guru meminta siswa untuk bekerja berpasangan 2. Guru meminta masing siswa untuk menentukan 2 tempat yang ada di dalam lingkungan sekolah atau di sekitar sekolah. Ex: teachers room, toilet, library. Laboratory 3. Guru meminta siswa untuk menanyakan how to get to the places from the class to their partner. 4. Guru mengingatkan agar siswa menggunakan ungkapan-ungkapan yang sudah dipelajari sebelumnya.
