Process OrientedWe realize that adult learning is a long process that requires special effort, so our training

programs and courses focus on the development of each individual at each learning stage.

up with the most recent research and methodologies in teaching. Most of the instructors are

UI graduates and hold graduate degrees from various reputable universities in the UK, USA

and Australia. They have all been selected on the basis of their teaching experience and

their command of the English language.

Individually Tailor-madeThe length, substance and methodology of every course and training program we offer are

specially designed based on the needs-analysis we carry out prior to the commencement of

the course.

Latest Teaching MethodologyWe realize that second language learning for adults is something that needs efforts. In

delivering the teaching material we are aware of the importance of the appropriate

methodology for language learning for adults. Thus, in every one of our language classes,

we will avoid the lecturing methodology which has proved to be less effective. Instead, we

will ask the participants to actively analyze the language points necessary. This particular

method is more effective for the participants to absorb the material since they are always

encouraged to be active and critical in class.

Detailed Reports and CertificatesAt the end of the program, LBI FIB UI is responsible for submitting a final course report to

the company. This report includes the running of the program, the performance of the each

participant completed with their scores and results, as well as the teachers comments on

the participants improvement. Certificates from LBI FIB UI will be given to those who have

fulfilled the requirements.

Accurate PlacementOur placement test is specially designed to measure accurately the language proficiency of

learners in order to join a course that is suitable for their interests and level. We also

conduct interviews to learn more about the learners motivation and background, which will

help us to place them in the right course or training program.

Academic Writing CourseThis course is specially designed for those who wish to improve their skills in writingfor academic purposes, with the focus on research writing. It aims at improvingparticipants language skills by exposing them to the organizational patterns,structures, steps and tips for personal improvement.

COURSE DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

ACADEMIC WRITING

TOTALDURATION 40 (forty) hours

GENERAL

OBJECTIVES

This course is specially designed for those who wish to improve theirskills in writing for academic purposes, with the focus on researchwriting. It aims at improving participants language skills by exposingthem to the organizational patterns, structures, steps and tips forpersonal improvement.

SPECIFIC

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course, the participants are expected to be able to:

choose and approach a topic for writing; explain the basic elements of academic writing in English; identify types of writing; make a clear and focused statement of problem and identify the

controlling idea; write a good outline; develop an outline based on ideas identified in the statement with

emphasis on clarity, accuracy and flow of ideas; review someones piece of writing and give feedback on its clarity,

flow and task achievement.

LEVEL

Depending upon the result of the placement test prior to the course:Beginner, intermediate, upper-intermediate

LOCATION The clients premises or LBI FIB UI Depok

SCHEDULE Monday-Friday, 6 (six) hours per session

TIME Depending upon the clients preference

FEE

Held at the clients premises:Rp22,000,000,- (twenty one million rupiah)

for ONE classwith the maximum number of 15 (fifteen) participants

COURSE ACTIVITIES

We encourage the use of the communicative approach for teaching English as a Foreign

Language. The principal aim of this approach is to develop the learners competence in English

by teaching the language in meaningful situations with emphasis on communicative functions

and ensuring maximum student-talking time.

PLACEMENT TESTS

To ensure the balance between the material and the language proficiency levels of theparticipants, a written placement test will be carried out to the participants prior to the course.

Midterm TestFinal Test

REPORTS

LBI FIB UI will submit a report on the course and participants at the end of the course; 14

(fourteen) working days after all the courses have been completed.
