ABSTRAK Siddiq Aji Winasis. PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN SURFAKTAN NATRIUM LAURIL SULFAT (NaLS) TERHADAP ELEKTROPLATING Zn-Ni PADA BESI. Skripsi. Jurusan Kimia Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta 2010 Pelapisan seng nikel pada logam besi secara elektroplating telah dilakukan dengan penambahan surfaktan natrium lauril sulfat (NaLS). Natrium lauril sulfat (NaLS) dengan variasi konsentrasi 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 g/L ditambahkan ke dalam larutan plating. Elektrolisis dijalankan pada variasi rapat arus 0,2; 0,4; 0,6; 0,8; 1,0 A/dm2 selama 30 menit dan jarak antar kedua elektroda 3 cm. Karakterisasi lapisan seng nikel dilakukan dengan menggunakan neraca analitik untuk uji berat lapisan seng nikel, alat uji kekerasan vickers untuk uji kekerasan lapisan, dan mikroskop optik disertai kamera digital untuk uji ukuran butiran deposit. Dari hasil penelitian, diperoleh hasil bahwa pada variasi konsentrasi NaLS, kenaikan konsentrasi NaLS meningkatkan berat deposit namun setelah konsentrasi 2 g/L berat deposit menjadi turun, kenaikan konsentrasi NaLS meningkatkan kekerasan deposit namun setelah konsentrasi 2 g/L tingkat kekerasan deposit menurun, kenaikan konsentrasi NaLS menyebabkan ukuran butiran deposit menjadi lebih kecil. Pada variasi rapat arus diperoleh hasil kenaikan rapat arus listrik meningkatkan berat deposit namun setelah rapat arus 0,6 A/dm2 berat deposit menjadi turun, kenaikan rapat arus meningkatkan kekerasan deposit namun setelah rapat arus 0,6 A/dm2 tingkat kekerasan deposit menurun, kenaikan rapat arus listrik menyebabkan ukuran butiran deposit menjadi lebih besar. SURFACTANT ADDITION FOR Zn Ni ELECTROPLATING ON IRON, Thesis, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Zinc nickel coating on iron metal by electroplating has been carried out with the addition of surfactant sodium lauryl sulfate (NaLS). Sodium lauryl sulfate (NaLS) with various concentration of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 g/L was added into the plating solution. Electrolysis carried out on variations of current density 0.2; 0.4; 0.6, 0.8; 1.0 A/dm2 for 30 minutes and distance between the two electrodes 3 cm. Characterization of zinc nickel coating was done by using an analytical balance for nickel zinc coating weight test, Vickers hardness testing equipment for hardness testing layer, and an optical microscope with a digital camera to test the deposit grain size. The research results showed that the variation NaLS concentration, increasing concentrations of heavy deposit NaLS improve but after the concentration of 2 g /L of heavy deposits of a fall, an increase in the concentration NaLS increase deposit hardness but after the concentration of 2 g/L deposits decreased levels of violence, the increase in concentrationNaLS cause the deposit grain size becomes smaller. At the current density variation obtained electric current density increases deposit but increase the weight after 0.6 A/dm2 current deposit into fall, the increase in current density to increase deposit hardness but after the currsnt density 0.6 A/dm2 deposit decreased levels of violence, the increase electric current density causes the deposit grain size becomes larger.
