Definisi report text ini juga hampir miripdengan apa yang sering disebutkan dalamberbagai buku bahasa Inggris di tingkatmenengah, "Report is a text which presentinformation about something, as it is. It is as aresult of systematic observation andanalyses." [Report adalah sebuah teks yangmenghadirkan informasi tentang suatu hal

Seperti halnya dengan descriptive text, Report text juga hanyamemiliki dua struktur umum [generic structure] yaitu :

General Clasification; Pernyataan umum yang menerangkansubjek laporan, keterangan, dan klasifikasinya.

Description: tells what the phenomenon under discussion ; in terms

of parts, qualities, habits or behaviors; Pada bagian ini biasanyamemberikan gambaran fenomena-fenomena yang terjadi; baikbagian-bagiannya, sifat-sifatnya, kebiasaannya, ataupuntingkah lakunya. Beberapa pakar menyebutkan bahwa tujuanteks report adalah :Its social purpose is presenting information aboutsomething. They generally describe an entire class ofthings, whether natural or made: mammals, theplanets, rocks, plants, countries of region, culture,transportation, and so on.

Setiap tulisan pasti memiliki ciri bahasa tersendiri; jika recounttext dan narrative text cenderung memiliki ciri menggunakan simplepast, lalu bagaimana dengan report text? Oke berikut adalah polagrammar yang umum digunakan dalam teks report, yang meliputi :

Use of general nouns, eg hunting dogs, rather than particular nouns, egour dog;

Use of relating verbs to describe features, eg Molecules are tinyparticles; Some use of action verbs when describing behaviour, eg Emus

Use of technical terms, eg Isobars are lines drawn on a weathermap;

Use of paragraphs with topic sentences to organise bundles ofinformation; repeated naming of the topic as the beginningfocus of the clause.

Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day is a celebration of harvest,thankfulness for peace, and the attempt of Native Americans. It isusually celebrated in late autumn. In the past, Thanksgiving wascelebrated for their rich harvest in New England. In NorthAmerica, however, it was originally held to thank God for theirsurvival in the new land which was not easy for them. However,

in Canada, it had been celebrated as in New England.Thanksgiving now is celebrated in United States of America andin Canada. Thanksgiving festivals are held every fourth Thursdayof November in the U.S and on the second Monday of October inCanada. It is usually celebrated in four to five days in the NorthAmerica and for three days in Canada.It is celebrated through

families and friends gathering to eat and give good luck. Turkey isthe main dish in the thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving paradesare also usually held. Elephants are the largest land animals on earth. They have the largest brainsof

any mammal. Elephants talk to each other. Researchers have discovered

more than 50 different types of calls that they use to communicate with eachother.

Their trunks are strong enough to pick up trees but sensitive enough to pickup

flowers They use them as tools to sweep paths, to scratch themselves,

to swat flies, and to draw in the dir They are good swimmers and use

their trunks like snorkels. They live together in family groups. They help
