Beach volleyball began in California in 1950. At the time some people who had a vacation at the beach

came up with an idea. They put up a piece of rope as a net and played volleyball. Shortly afterwards, many

women and men liked to play it. Therefore, in 1985 the Volleyball Federation recognized it, and in the

following year it organized an international beach volleyball competition in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil.

Beach volleyball and traditional volleyball look the same but actually they are different. What are thesimilarities and differences between them? The similarities are as follows. Games must be played on the

courts of the same size, and they also have nets. The techniques of playing the games are almost the same.

Every set of each game consists of 15 points. However, traditional volleyball has more players than beach

volleyball. That is, it has 6 players while beach volleyball has only 2 players in each team. Besides,

traditional volleyball can be played in a stadium, a sport hall, or anywhere outside. Beach volleyball is only

played on the sand at the beach.

In Indonesia beach volleyball has begun to be more popular and interesting recently. International

competitions have been held in several places such as Bali, Lombok, and Jakarta (Ancol). However, it

should be introduced and developed further in other areas in Indonesia, especially areas of beautiful

beaches like Maluku, Sulawesi, and Irian Jaya.

A beggar found a leather purse that someone had dropped in a market place. Opening it, hediscovered that it contained 100 pieces of gold. Then he heard a merchant shouted. “A reward. A rewardto the one who find my leather purse!”

Being an honest man, the beggar came forward and handed the purse to the merchant saying,“Here is your purse. Will you keep your word to give a reward now?”

“I am an honest man,” said the beggar defiantly. Let’s take this matter to the court!” In the court, the judge patiently listened to both sides of the story and said, “I believe you both. Justice is possible!Merchant, you stated that the purse you lost contained 200 pieces of gold. Well, that’s a considerable cost. But the purse the beggar found had only 100 pieces of gold. REPORT

An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadowof another. The term is most often used to describe either a solar eclipse, when the Moon's shadowcrosses the Earth's surface, or a lunar eclipse, when the Moon moves into the shadow of Earth.

8/6/2019 Naskah Soal Uas

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/naskah-soal-uas 8/10

Eclipses may occur when the Earth and Moon are aligned with the Sun, and the shadow of one body cast by the Sun falls on the other. So at  New Moon (or rather Dark Moon

), when the Moon is inconjunction with the Sun, the Moon may pass in front of the Sun as seen from a narrow region on thesurface of the Earth and cause a solar eclipse. At Full Moon, when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun,the Moon may pass through the shadow of the Earth, and a lunar eclipse is visible from the night half of the Earth.

An eclipse does not happen at every New or Full Moon, because the plane of the orbit of the Moon around the Earth is tilted with respect to the plane of the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, so asseen from the Earth, when the Moon is nearest to the Sun (New Moon) or at largest distance (Full Moon),the three bodies usually are not exactly on the same line.
