    Ketu Pariharam

Ketu is a shadow planet. Actually the position and transit of Lord Ketu and Rahu are calculated by the meeting

points of Sun and Moon. Both of them are always opposite to each other in a birth chart. Ketu is called planet

of wisdom Gnana Karakan as per Indian astrology.

Ketu dasa comes in to effect in ones life for seven years after Budan dasa. People who undergo Ketu dasa get

lots of experiences and exposures in life in these seven years. If Ketu is placed in good position with good

planets he shows him the good and happy life. Otherwise the life is hectic and gets in to quite a lot of troubles.

Both Rahu and Ketu are influenced by the planets they are associated and give favorable or unfavorable life

accordingly. But they both are generally considered as malefic planets spoiling ones peaceful life with bad

    effects.

When the Devas and Asuras churned the ocean of milk with Mount Mantara as the churning stick and snake

Vasuki as the rope, the snake, unable to bear the pain emitted poison. The devas and the demons feared the

ill effects of the poison and prayed Lord Shiva.

The Lord Shiva swallowed the poison but Goddess Parvathi rushed to prevent Him swallowing of the poison

and so it got stuck in His neck. Due to this, the Lord Shiva is called Neela Kanta and His throat turned blue

    with the poision.

Vasuki, the King of serpents did penance and worshipped Lord Shiva for years, beseeching forgiveness. TheLord appeared before the snake, pleased with its prayers. He blessed the snake to be enshrined in a temple in

the bamboo forest and relieve the devotees from the ill effects of Ketu one of the Navagrahas.

Lord Kethu chariot's drawn by ten horses. Kethu is also called as angry god and tall in stature. He is dark in

    Temple History:

Keezhperumpallam is also called Vanagiri. The planets Kethu and Rahu, known as Chaaya

Grahangal, are associated with the legend of the churning of the milky ocean. When the

Devas and Asuras churned the ocean of milk with the Manthira Mountain as the churning

stick and snake Vasuki as the rope, the amirtham emerged. This was consumed by an

asura, who disguised himself as a Deva. Knowing this, Lord Narayana hit the asura on the

head with the spoon in his hand. The head was cut off and fell on the ground. As the

asura had consumed amirtham, his head and body continued to live. The head portion of

the asura attached itself to a snake body and became Rahu Bhagavan. The body portion

that was thrown away fell in Pothigai mountain region which was found and preserved by

a Brahmin. The head of a snake got attached to the asura body to become Kethu.
