To study the /or0in*s o Karma on the line su**ested by the Master$ /e must *ain a clear conception othe three lo/er planes$ or re*ions$ o the uni2erse$ and o the )rinciples ['ee$ or these MAN;A& 1]related to them. The names *i2en to them indicate the state o the consciousness /or0in* on them. -nthis a dia*ram may help us$ sho/in* the planes /ith the )rinciples related to them$ and the 2ehicles in/hich a conscious entity may 2isit them. -n practical "ccultism the student learns to 2isit these planes$and by his o/n in2esti*ations to transorm theory into 0no/led*e. The most salient characteristic o the 0Imic Elementals is sensation$ the po/er o not only ans/erin* to2ibrations but o eelin* them! and the psychic plane is cro/ded /ith these entities$ o 2aryin* de*rees oconsciousness$ /ho recei2e impacts o e2ery 0ind and combine them into sensations. Any bein* /hopossesses$ then$ a body into /hich these Elementals are built$ is capable o eelin*$ and man eelsthrou*h such a body. A man is not conscious in the particles o his body or e2en in its cells! they ha2e aconsciousness o their o/n$ and by this carry on the 2arious processes o his 2e*etati2e lie! but the man/hose body they orm does not share their consciousness$ does not consciously help or hinder them as

they select$ assimilate$ secrete$ build up$ and could not at any moment so put his consciousness intorapport /ith the consciousness o a cell in his heart as to say e(actly [Page 7]/hat it /as doin*. +isconsciousness unctions normally on the psychic plane! and e2en in the hi*her psychic re*ions$ /heremind is /or0in*$ it is mind intermin*led /ith KIma$ pure mind not unctionin* on this astral plane.

The astral plane is thron*ed /ith Elementals similar to those /hich enter into the desire5body o man$and /hich also orm the simpler desire5body o the lo/er animal. By this department o his nature mancomes into immediate relations /ith these Elementals$ and by them he orms lin0s /ith all the ob6ectsaround him that are either attracti2e or repulsi2e to him. By his ill$ by his emotions$ by his desires$ heinluences these countless bein*s$ /hich sensiti2ely respond to all the thrills o eelin* that he sends out

in e2ery direction. +is o/n desire5body acts as the apparatus$ and 6ust as it combines the 2ibrations thatcome rom /ithout into eelin*s$ so does it dissociate the eelin*s that arise /ithin into 2ibrations.

    A thou*ht5orm$ then$ is a mental ima*e$ created @ or moulded @ by the mind out o the subtle matter othe hi*her psychic plane$ in /hich$ as abo2e said$ it /or0s. +ere /e ha2e to do /ith a *eneral principle o ar5reachin* eect$ and it /ill be /ell to /or0 it out a littleinto detail.
