1. Menyimpan makanan yang masuk sampai disalurkan ke duodenum
2. Mensekresi HCl & enzim-enzim yang mencerna protein
3. Membentuk kimus

Aspek Motilitas Lambung
1. Pengisian Lambung• Volume lambung kosong ± 50ml tetapi dapat mengembang
sampai ± 1lt ketika terisi makanan• Faktor yang mengatur ketegangan & tekanan intralambung :
a) Plastisitas otot polos lambungb) Relaksasi reseptif lambung
2. Penyimpanan Lambung• Di daerah fundus lambung → sel pemacu → potensial
gelombang → depolarisasi = BER (Basic Electrical Rhythm) → tergantung eksitabilitas otot polos → peristaltik → di fundus & korpus ototnya tipis → peristaltik lemah → makanan dari esofagus tersimpan tanpa mengalami pencampuran

3. Pencampuran Lambung
• Saat kontraksi peristaltik → makanan + getah lambung → kimus → kimus dibagian antrum terdorong ke depan, tetapi tidak ke duodenum karena sfingter pilorus tertutup & hanya yang berukuran 1mm yang melewati sfingter pilorus → dan ditolak kembali ke dalam antrum → timbul gerakan maju-mundur = retropulsi
