Abstract

Background Serum ferritin le$el is related to "ody iron stores, and is influen!ed "y

diseases su!h as !hroni! inflammation. &t 'as suggested that an e(!essi$e a!!umulation of

"ody iron stores may !ontri"ute to the pathogenesis of type 2 dia"etes mellitus and its

!ompli!ations. )he aim of the study 'as to e$aluate the relationship "et'een dia"etes

retinopathy and serum ferritin le$els in type 2 dia"etes mellitus patients.

Methods* &n!lusion !riteria 'ere type 2 dia"etes mellitus patients. %(!lusion !riteria 'eresmoking, history of !oronary heart disease or symptomati! !arotid artery disease, !hroni!

diseases like malignan!y, se$ere !hroni! lung disease, !hroni! li$er disease, inflammatory
