Butterfly

Butterflies are beautiful, flying insects with large  scaly wings.like all insects, they have six legs, three body parts, a pair of antennae, and compound eyes. The three body parts are the head, thorax (the chest), and abdomen (the tail end). The four wings and the six legs of the butterfly are connected to the thorax. The thorax contains the muscles that make the legs and wings move.

Butterflies ere very good fliers. They have two pairs, of large wings covered with colourful scales. Butterflies and moths are the only insects that have scaly wings. The wings are connected to the butterfly’s thorax (mid-section). Butterflies can only fly if their body temperature is above 27 degrees Centigrade. Butterflies sun themselves to warm up in cool weather. As butterflies get older, the colour of the wings fades and the wings become ragged.

The speed varies among butterfly species (the poisonous varieties are slower than noun – poisonous varieties). The fastest butterflies can fly at about 50 kilometers per hour (kph) or faster. Slow flying butterflies fly about 8 kph.

My Mother

I think that my mother is a beautiful person. She is not tall but not short, and she has curly hair and black. Her eyes color are like honey and her color skin color light brown, and she has a beautiful smile.

She is a very kind person. She is very lovely, friendly, patient, and she loves to help people. I love my mom, because she is a good example to me. She loves being in the Church, and she loves sing and dance too.

She always takes care of her family. She likes her house to be clean and organized. She a very organized person, and all things in the house are in the right place. She doesn’t like messes.

She always has a smile on her face. She is so sweet and lovely. I like when I am going to sleep or went I wake up or when I am going to go to some places, she always give me a kiss, and when the family have a problem she always be with us to helps us and to give us all her love.

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur is Hindu - Budhist temple. It was build in the nineth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high and consist of eight step like stone terrace. The first five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Budist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire adifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and starways. The design of borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences temples at Angkor, Cambodia.

Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.

Rubik’s cube

Rubik's cube is a toy puzzle designed by Erno Rubik, an architect and professor at the

University of Budapest. It is a cube-shaped and contains of smaller cube pieces with six sides

having different colors. The cube was so popular during the 1980s, and at its peak between 1980

and 1983. 200 million cubes were sold world wide. In the solved condition, Rubik’s cube has six

faces which all of the colors are same. The Rubik's cube has red, yellow, blue, green, white, and

orange color. The edges and corners move when the cube is rotated and the cube becomes

scrambled. The challenge of the puzzle is to solve each cube to the original position.

There are many solutions to solve the Rubik’s cube. Lars Petrus, Jessica Fridich, and

Shotaro Makisumi, are people who created the solution to solve it. A common solution used by

cubers was developed by Jessica Fridrich, a professor at the Department of Electrical and

Computer Engineering at Binghamton University. It uses a large number of algorithms,

especially for orienting and permuting the last layer. The cross consists of one color is done first

and then continue to make second and first layer by F2L (First 2 Layer) algorithms that consist

of 41 algorithms. The next step is to solve the third layer by OLL (Oriented Last Layer) and PLL

(Permutation Last Layer). Fridrich's solution requires learning roughly 120 algorithms but the

Cube can be solved in only 55 moves on average.

There are two kinds of Rubik’s cube, DIY and Original Rubik’s cube. DIY (Do It

Yourself) Rubik’s cube is the cube that can be assembled and modified by ourselves. The core of

it made up of bolts; so we can arrange the bolts to get a comfortable Rubik’s cube. Types of DIY

Rubik’s cube are, A type, C type, and F type. Every type has different advantages for cubers. For

the example, F type is a lightweight Rubik’s cube and it almost can’t be pop out. It is suitable for

a stylish cuber. C type has a good material and it suitable for a rush cuber. The second type is

Original Rubik’s cube or we can call Ori Rubik. Ori Rubik is the cube that can’t be assembled or

modified by ourselves. The core of this made of nails. Ori Rubik is suitable for a beginner cuber

that’s training their fingertrick. 

Pengertian Narrative Text

Disebutkan bahwa A narrative text is an imaginative story to entertain people (teks narasi adalah cerita imaginatif yang bertujuan menghibur orang). Jika melihat pada kamus bahasa Inggris, secara harfiah narrative bermakna (1) a spoken or written account of connected events; a story. (2) the narrated part of a literary work, as distinct from dialogue. (3) the practice or art of narration. 

Cerita Narrative Text(Narrative bermakna : 1. sebuah cerita baik terucap atau tertulis tentang peristiwa-peristiwa yang berhubungan. 2. bagian yang diceritakan dalam sebuah karya sastra, berbeda dengan dialog. 3. Praktik atau seni bercerita)

Jika disimpulkan, maka sebuah narrative text adalah teks yang berisi sebuah cerita baik tertulis ataupun tidak tertulis dan terdapat rangkaian peristiwa yang saling terhubung.

Generic Structure dari Narrative Text

Orientation : It is about the opening paragraph where the characters of the story are introduced.(berisi pengenalan tokoh, tempat dan waktu terjadinya cerita (siapa atau apa, kapan dan dimana) 

Complication : Where the problems in the story developed. (Permasalahan muncul / mulai terjadi dan berkembang)

Resolution : Where the problems in the story is solved. Masalah selesai, --- secara baik "happy ending" ataupun buruk "bad ending".

Sincere Will Get a Great Return

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom named Auretto, all people lived peacefully there. One of them was Charlita, the king’s daughter who was assumed as the most beautiful and kindest Princess of Auretto.

One day, Charlita looked blue. Because of that her father got confused. “What’s the matter my beautiful daughter? Why are you so sad?” asked King Fernando. Charlita was just silent. She did not say anything.

Then, King Fernando decided to make a competition to cheer Charlita again. After that, the palace representative announce: “I will make a competition. The aim is to make my daughter, Princess Charlita to be happy and laugh again. Everyone who can do it, will get a prize. It will be held tomorrow when the sun rises. Sign: King Fernando.”

The following morning, everybody came to the palace, tried to give their best performance. They seemed happy and laugh, but not for Princess Charlita. She was just silent and still looked sad.

King Fernando started to give up. No one amused his daughter. Then, there came a young handsome man. “Excuse me King Fernando. I would like to join your competition. But, would you mind if I took Princess Charlita for a walk?” said the young man gently. “As long as you make my daughter be happy again, it will totally alright.” said King Fernando.

The young handsome man took Princess Charlita for a walk in a beautiful blue lake with a green forest around it. Princess Charlita smiled and looked happy after that. Every body looked happy, too. “I know why are you so my beautiful daughter. Now, I promise I will environment green. I regret for always destroying it. Finally, the environment around the kingdom became so beautiful and green, full of plants. Then, the young handsome man got a prize from the king. “I will marry you off my daughter.” said him. “That is the prize I promise for you. Thanks for keeping our environment well. Thanks for making my daughter happy again.”

The Legend of Rawa Pening

Once upon a time, there was a little poor boy came into a little village. He was very hungry and weak. He knocked at every door and asked for some food, but nobody cared about him. Nobody wanted to help the little boy.

Finally, a generous woman helped him. She gave him shelter and a meal. When the boy wanted to leave, this old woman gave him a “lesung”, a big wooden mortar for pounding rice. She reminded him, “please remember, if there is a flood you must save yourself. Use this “lesung” as a boat”. The “lesung” was happy and thanked the old woman.The little boy continued his journey. While he was passing through the village, he saw many people gathering on the field. The boy came closer and saw a stick stuck in the ground. People challenged each other to pull out that stick. Everybody tried, but nobody succeeded. “Can I try?” asked the little boy. The crowd laughed mockingly. The boy wanted to try his luck so he stepped forward and pulled out the stick. He could do it very easily. Everybody was dumbfounded.

Suddenly, from the hole left by stick, water spouted out. It did not stop until it flooded the village. And no one was saved from the water except the little boy and the generous old woman who gave him shelter and meal. As she told him, he used the “lesung” as a boat and picked up the old woman. The whole village became a huge lake. It is now known as Rawa Pening Lake in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia.

The Smartest Parrot

Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot like it. The parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not say the name of the place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.

The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand why the parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano however the bird kept not saying the word.

At the first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry. “You stupid bird!” pointed the man to the parrot. “Why can’t you say the word? Say Catano! Or I will kill you” the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”. The bird kept not to say the word of Catano.

One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner “You are as stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them” Said the man angrily. Then he continued to humble; “You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn, I will eat you too, stupid parrot”. After that he left the chicken house.

The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were three death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly and screaming at the last old chicken; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”.

The Monkey and The Crocodile

One day there was a monkey. He wanted to cross a river. There he saw a crocodile so he asked the crocodile to take him across the other side of the river. The crocodile agree and told the monkey to jump on its back. Then the crocodile swam down the river with the monkey on his top.

Unluckily, the crocodile was very hungry, he stopped in the middle of the river and said to the monkey, “My father is very sick. He has to eat the heart of the monkey. So he will be healthy again.”

At the time, the monkey was in dangerous situation and he had to think hard. Then he had a good idea. He told the crocodile to swim back to the river bank. “What’s for?” asked the crocodile. “Because I don’t bring my heart,” said the monkey. “I left it under a tree, near some coconuts in the river bank.”

The crocodile agreed and turned around. He swam back to the bank of the river. As soon as they reached the river bank, the monkey jumped off the crocodile’s back. Then he climbed up to the top of a tree.

“Where is your heart?” asked the crocodile. “You are foolish,” said the monkey to the crocodile. “Now I am free and I have my heart.

Snow White

Once upon a time there lived a little, named Snow White. She lived with her aunt and uncle because her parents were died.

One day she heard her aunt and uncle talking about leaving Snow White in the castle because they wanted to go to America and they didn’t have enough money to take Snow White with them.

Snow White didn’t want her uncle and aunt to do this. So she decided to run away. The next morning she run away from home when her aunt and uncle were having breakfast, she run away into the wood. In the wood she felt very tired and hungry. Then she saw this cottage. She knocked but no one answered so she went inside and felt asleep

Meanwhile seven dwarfs were coming home from work. They went inside. There, they found Snow White woke up. She saw the dwarfs. The dwarfs said; “What is your name?”. Snow White said; “My name is Snow White”. One of the dwarfs said; “If you wish, you may live here with us”. Snow White told the whole story about her. Then Snow white ad the seven dwarfs lived happily ever after.

Pengertian News Item

News item is a text which informs readers about events of the day. The events are considered newsworthy or important. (News item adalah teks yang memberikan informasi tentang kejadian / peristiwa harian. Peristiwa harian ini dianggap pantas dijadikan berita atau [bisa dibilang] penting)

Artinya, jika ada suatu peristiwa penting yang patut diketahui oleh banyak orang, maka peristiwa ini pantas dijadikan berita. Nah, teks berita itulah yang dinamakan dengan news item. Namun, jika ada peristiwa yang tidak pantas diketahui oleh orang banyak, maka peristiwa tersebut jelas tidak layak dijadikan berita.

Pamekasan student wins math contest in Romania

Alyssa Diva Mustika, a student from Pamekasan Junior High School, East Java, won the gold medal at the International Mathematics Contest held in Romania between March 22 to 29, Antara news agency reported.

Speaking to journalists, Diva said she was glad that she had been able to win the competition, which she said had been very tight. “Thank God I won. I will study harder,” she said.

Indonesia sent 10 students to the competition in Romania. Diva is not the first Pamekasan student to win an international science competition. Oktavian Latief, a student from SMA Negeri 1 Pamekasan won gold at the International Physics Olympiad in 2006. Another student, Shohibul Maromi, won the same award in 2010.

“I thank Diva for giving a good name to Indonesia and Pamekasan on the international stage,” Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman said as quoted by Antara.

Quake victims play waiting game

Thousand of quake survivors cramped makeshift shelters in Manokwari on Monday as aftershocks continued to rock the region a day after two powerful earthquake flattened hundreds of buildings and killed four people.“For the time being, there are 14,000 refugees,” West Papua Governor Abraham Atururi said, adding that 17 camps had been set up for displaced in the provincial capital of Manokwari.

                The National Disaster Mitigation Body said the quake had killed two people, injured 35 other and damaged hundreds of buildings. As said started to arrive Monday, hundreds of aftershocks continued to rattle the coastal city which had been hit by 7,6 and 7,5 magnitude quakes early Sunday, cutting power and prompting a brief tsunami warni. Atururi said a 10 year old girl had been killed in the quakes. Hundreds of government and private buildings were also damaged, as well as seven bridges, two of which collapsed, he said.

                Jayapura’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) office said West Papua had been hit by 842 aftershocks over a period of 29 hours after the first quake, including 54 strong after shocks all rated at more than 5 on the Richter scale. “It keeps on shaking,” Papua BMG spokesman, Mujahidin said.Evacuees erected tents along the road near their homes despite the nearby refugee centers.“We will stay in the tents until the government issues an official statement stating the condition is safe,” La Atin, 45, an evacuee from Wirsi village, told The Jakarta Post.

                Atin and 10 other families from Wirsi said they preferred to continue living in tents erected along the road because they feared more aftershocks and tsunami would strike. “During the earthquake in 1996, our home were swept away by tidal waves. The water at one point rose, prompting us to seek shelter on higher ground,” said Atin, whose house is located near a beach.

                He left for shelter with his family and their belongings, including mattresses, mats, stove and rice. “We have not received relief aid from the government but we can still eat because we brought rice from home,” said Ria, Atin ’s wife.

                Following Monday’s aftershocks that rocked Manokwari city, Sorong city, and Sorong regency. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono dispatched to the region four ministers armed with cash aid and supplies. The ministers are Social Minister, Bachtiar Chamsyah, Health Minister, Siti Fadilah Supari, Public Works Minister, Djoko Kirmanto, and Transportation Minister, Jusman Syafii Djamal to West Papua.

                The ministers brought with them Rp 1 billion (US$93,023) in cash, 600 tons of rice, medical supplies, an ambulance and a car to carry refugees to shelters. Bacthiar called on victims who had not received aid to remain patient, adding there was an insufficient number of relief works in the region.

                Tangerang detective chief, Adj. Comr. Zulkifli, said, as quoted by Antara, that Police strongly suspected she had been killed by her close friend. They have still been investigating the case to confirm what happened. The body of Sri Mulyanti, 18, was found by neighbor, Topan, around 300 meter form her employer’s house.

                The employers, Anti and Eko, said they realized Sri Mulyanti was not sleeping in her bed in their house the night she died, but they did not suspect anything. Anti said, Sri Mulyanti, who had worked for the family for a year, was well behaved and did her jobs diligently.

Gold tumbles to more than 2 month low as risk grows

               

Gold dropped to its lowest in more than two months as investor risk appetite  increased, reducing the metal’s appeal as a heaven.

                Bullion has tumbled 5,2 percent in three days on growing optimism that the world financial crisis maybe easing. Asian stocks advanced for a fourth day after Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben S. Bernance, said policy responses were helping to unfreeze credit markets. The metal has dropped 6,5 percent in the past month as the benchmark MSCI Asia Pacific Index surged 21 percent. “ The gold price came off from US$920, $930 because the equity market has been performing better,” said Bob Takai, general manager of financial services at Sumitomo Corp. in Tokyo.

                Gold for immediate delivery fell for a third day, sliding as much as 2,1 percent to $874,98 an ounce, the lowest since January 23, before trading at $878,57 an ounce at 2:09 pm in Singapore. June delivery gold dipped 1,9 percent to $880.20 an ounce on the comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. “We may be through the worst, but we are not yet out of the woods,” Takai said in a Bloomberg Television Interview, Monday. “I recommend people holding gold positions at the moment to sell. Keep it just in case something happens.”

                Investment in the SPDR Gold Trust, the biggest exchange traded fund backed by billion, declined for the first time since March, 23. The fund held 1,127.37 tons of gold as of April 3m down from 1,127.44 tons on April 2, a level which had been unchanged for four days. Still, gold may rebound this week on concern that consumer prices may increase. Spurring demand for the precious metal as a hedge against inflation.

                Twelve of 17 traders, investors, and analysts, or 71 percent surveyed by Bloomberg News, said gold would climb. Four people or 24 percent forecast lower prices and one was neutral. Price of goods imported into the US Probably rose 0.9 percent in March, the first increase since July, according to the median estimate of 18 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News. The Labor Department report is set for release April 9.

                “You never know if this financial crisis is going to be over, and you ever know if the equity rise is going to continue, so you need to buy the insurance,” said Takai.

                Hedge fund managers and other large speculators increased their net long position in New York gold futures in the week ended March 31 by 1 percent, according to US Commodity Futures Trading Commission data.

Rossi Sweeps to Australian GP Victory

                World champion Valentino Rossi erased a 10 second time penalty to storm to victory in the Australian Moto Gp at the Phillip Island circuit on Sunday.

                The 24 years old Italian Repsol Honda rider won his eight GP of the season and 58th overall to claim the 120 kilometer race by 5,2 seconds from Italy’s Ducati racer Loris Capirossi and American Honda rider Nicky Hayden.

                It was Rossi’s 21st consecutive podium result and came despite incurring a ten second penalty for passing under yellow flags early in the race. Only Giacomo Agostini has had a longer run in the premier class with 22 straight podium results during the 1967-1969 seasons.

                Rossi, who claimed his third consecutive world title in Malaysia last weekend, moved to 332 points, 75 points ahead of Spaniard Sete Gibernau with one race left in Valencia, Spain, in a fortnight. Marco Melandri, Hayden dan Rossi all diced for the early lead and Australian Troy Bayliss, who was also pressing, crashed out on lap four after touching  a wet and slippery white line on the outside of the asphalt at the Honda hairpin.

                The Ducati rider feel heavily and was knocked unconscious but medical staff said later he was suffering only bruising and slight concussion. Bayliss was to have precautionary checks in hospital later on Sunday.

                On the next lap, Rossi passed Melandri at the corner where Bayliss came to grief, and not seeing the yellow flags was informed of a ten second penalty several laps later when he was leading by three seconds from Capirossi. Knowing he had to make up 10 seconds, Rossi roared off like a man possessed, taking the flag 15 seconds ahead of Capirossi, but five seconds in front on corrected time.

                “I saw the board after nine or 10 laps and it said minus 10 seconds and I didn’t understand,” Rossi said.

                The joust for third went down to a last lap showdown between Hayden and Gibernau, with the Spaniard pulling off an aggressive passing move on one of the fastest parts of the circuit to hold on to second by just four hundredths of second. Repsol Honda had two riders on the podium with young rookie Hayden looking like a worthy replacement for Rossi if the world champion decides to change teams for next season.

                The championship, leading trio of Rossi, Gibernau, and Max Biaggi, who finished 17th and was almost lapped, cannot be displaced from their standings heading into the final race at Valencia.
