    INTRODUCTION

    GUARANTEE

    Euronda guarantees the quality of its equipment, if used in accordance with the instructions contained in this manual, according to the conditions indicated in the Certificate of Guarantee (see chap. 2.2).

    ATTENTION: the CUSTOMER must fill in all parts of the COUPON in the certificate of guarantee and send it to EURONDA S.p.A.

    The guarantee period starts from the delivery date of the unit to the customer; this date is confirmed by returning the guarantee slip correctly, duly filled in and signed. In the case of dispute, the date indicated on the purchase invoice, showing the serial number of the unit, will be considered as valid.

    CHAPTER 1

    1.1 - REFERENCE STANDARDS

    The autoclave complies with the essential requirements of Council Directives: Medical devices 93/42/EEC of 14/06/93, class II A it also complies with the national standards in their harmonised versions: CEI EN 61010-1 CEI EN 61010-2-040 CEI EN 61326 The boiler complies with the following standards: EN 13445 VSR Rev. 95 Ed. 99

    1.2 - STAFF REQUIREMENTS The staff authorised to use and service the equipment must possess the following requirements: - sufficient general culture to understand the contents of this manual; - knowledge of the machine and its place of installation; - knowledge of health, accident prevention and technical regulations. The main figures who operate and service the unit are shown below. The OPERATOR is the person who physically uses the unit for the purposes for which it has been designed. The RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITY is the person or group responsible for the use and ordinary maintenance of the unit and for operator training. The responsible authority is legally responsible for the installation, operation and use of the unit.

    1.3 - USING AND STORING THE MANUAL Intended use: this manual is an integral part of the product and must be kept near the unit for quick and easy consultation. This manual contains instructions for: - correct installation; - the safe and efficient operation of the unit; - continuous and regular maintenance. The unit must be used according to the procedures contained in the manual and only for the purpose for which it was designed. The occupational health and safety directives in force in the Country of destination of the unit must be known and applied in the place of use. The manual must be kept in a safe and easily accessible place for staff; it must also be handled with care. It is forbidden to remove, rewrite or modify the contents of this manual in any way. The drawings and any other documents delivered with the unit may not be divulged to third parties in that Euronda S.p.A. is the sole owner and reserves all rights to them. The partial or total photocopying of the text and illustrations is strictly forbidden. Euronda S.p.A. reserves the right to make modifications or improvements to the manual or equipment without notice and without being obliged to update previous production and manuals. The information contained in this manual refers to the unit the characteristics of which are specified in chap. 5.5 Rating plate. If the unit is resold, it must be delivered to the new owner together with this manual. In this case, the maker must be informed of the new owner (see chap. 8.2 Resale).

    3.4 - NOISE

    The unit has been designed and built to reduce noise to less than 50 dB(A).

    3.5 - RATING PLATE

    The rating plate (Fig. 5.5-1) indicates the main data and characteristics of the unit, the information required to identify it when ordering spare parts an/or when requesting information.

    SYMBOL DESCRIPTION

    SN "SERIAL NUMBER" The symbol must be accompanied by the manufacturers serial number. The serial number must be adjacent to the symbol.

    "PRODUCTION DATE" The symbol must be accompanied by the year. The year must be composed of 4 digits.

    "WARNING, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL"

    RECYCLING SYMBOL The symbol means that at the end of the life of the equipment you must dispose of it separately at an appropriate collection point and not place it in the normal domestic unsorted waste stream.

    4.2 - RECEIPT AND HANDLING On receipt of the machine, check that the packaging is intact (keep it for future despatches). Open the packaging and check that: - the supply corresponds to the technical specifications (chap. 6.2.1 Contents of pack); - there is no evident damage. If any damage or missing parts are discovered, inform the haulier, wholesaler or Euronda S.p.A. immediately, providing all details Handle the packed unit as described in chap. 4.3 Work environment: positioning (Fig. 4.3-2).

    4.3 - WORK ENVIRONMENT: POSITIONING

    The autoclave is packed as follows: sealed in a plastic film, protected by polycell mouldings and placed in a corrugated cardboard box.

    Lift the autoclave with care and do not turn it upside down.

    The packaging and the autoclave are fragile, handle with care. Transport as fragile. THE HANDLES ON THE PACKAGING (1 of Fig. 6.3-1) MUST ONLY BE USED FOR VERTICAL LIFTING. Keep in a dry and protected place. The packaging must be kept for the whole guarantee period.

    N.B.: keep the original packaging and use it to transport the unit. The use of different packaging may damage the product during transport.

    The sterilizer must be removed from the packaging and positioned by two people at the same time (Fig. 4.3-2).

    ATTENTION: following the indications shown in figure 4.3-2.

    - The unit should be installed inside a laboratory, which is accessible only to authorised personnel. - Position the autoclave on a flat and horizontal surface (Fig. 4.3-3). - Leave a space of at least 20 cm around the autoclave to allow sufficient air circulation (Fig. 4.3-3). - Do not place the autoclave near sources of steam or where it could be splashed by water, which could

    damage the internal electronic circuitry. - Do not install the autoclave where there is poor air circulation (Fig. 4.3-4). - Do not place the autoclave near sources of heat (Fig. 4.3-4). - The area where the unit is placed must be lit in accordance with standard UNI 10380. - Acceptable environmental conditions: temperature from 5 to 40C max. humidity 85% without condensation.

    4.4 - INSTALLING THE UNIT

    Installation is a fundamental operation for the subsequent use and correct functioning of the unit. This unit has been designed for use in a normal environment and therefore does not require excessive care in the installation phase. However, it is necessary to follow the advice given. - Install the unit so that the power lead does not kink or become squashed but has a free run to the socket. - Install the autoclave by connecting the external discharge valve as shown in chapter 6.5. - The unit must be placed so that the plug is accessible. - Place the autoclave at a height that will allow the user to inspect the entire sterilization chamber and - clean it with ease. - Do not place trays, newspapers, containers of liquids, etc. on the unit: the ventilation grilles must not be - blocked. - Do not lean on the door when it is open. - When emptying the discharge tank directly into the waste pipes, position the unit at a height above the

    drain. Once installed and connected to an electrical power point, the unit is ready to use.

    ATTENTION: if the external tank is not connected correctly, it may cause leaks and/or burns.

    4.4.1 - Electrical connections Electrical connections must be made by a specialised fitter.

    - Check that the power supply voltage indicated on the rear label (1 of Fig. 4.4.1-1) corresponds to that

    available at the point of installation. - The autoclave must be connected with an overload cut-out switch (2 of 4.4.1-1) to a system fitted with an

    adequate earth system that conforms to the standards applicable in the country of installation. - The system must be connected according to current standards. - A differential switch (3 of 4.4.1-1) featuring the following characteristics must be installed upstream of the

    autoclave power socket (4 of 4.4.1-1): nominal current: 10 A differential sensitivity: 0.03 A. - Connect the supplied cable to the rear of the unit. - Position the unit so that the plug is accessible.

    Do not allow the lead to bend tightly and do not place any object on it Do not use extension leads.

    Only use the original lead. ONLY USE ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS.

    If the autoclave does not work correctly, please refer to chap. 7.4 Troubleshooting of this manual for possible causes. For further information or repairs please contact your supplier or the technical department of Euronda S.p.A..

    WARNING. The autoclave conforms to the electrical safety requirements of the Standards Institute and comes supplied with a two-pole plug that ensures the unit is earthed. A fundamental safety requirement is to check that the electrical system is adequately earthed and that the capacity of the system and the sockets are suitable for the power of the unit indicated on the label. Have the system checked by qualified personnel. EURONDA S.p.A. DECLINES ALL LIABILITY IF THE ABOVE IS NOT OBSERVED.

    CHAPTER 5

    5.1 - CONTROL PANEL

    A description of the control panel follows (Fig. 5.1-1) 1. Pressure gauge 2. CYCLE button for selecting the type of cycle. 3. LED's indicating the type of cycle that has been selected. 4. LED's indicating the cycle phases. 5. ALARM LED 6. START / STOP button 7. USED WATER MAX LED 8. OVERHEAT LED 9. POWER button for switching the unit on and off.

    1. PRESSURE GAUGE Shows the pressure level in the chamber.

    Always make sure the pressure gauge reads 0 bar before opening the door.

    2. CYCLE BUTTON Selects the pre-set type of cycle which may be at 121C or 134C. Depending on the selected cycle, the relative LED (3 of Fig. 5.1-1) lights up.

    4. CYCLE PHASE LED The individual phases of the sterilization process are shown by the LED's on the control panel. These are: - HEAT: Starts the sterilization cycle. Shows whether the heater is working. - STER: Sterilization phase. - DRY: 17,5 minute heat drying phase. - END: Cycle successfully completed. 5. ALARM LED General alarm. This lights up: 1. if the pressure level required to perform the cycle is not reached. 2. if the mechanical and electrical safety devices do not cut in. See chap. 9.4 "Troubleshooting". 6. START / STOP BUTTON The START/STOP button is used to: 1. start the previously selected cycle with the CYCLE button. The yellow LED next to the START/STOP button indicates that the cycle can be started or interrupted; 2. interrupt the cycle at any point by pressing it once. The manual stop procedure involves discharging the pressure of the boiler; the door electromagnet only

    disengages 90 seconds later. The alarm signal will only be cancelled and the initial conditions reset when the door is opened.

    ATTENTION: the door can only be opened 90 seconds after the manual stop, when the door lock disengages. This prevents damage being done to the closing system. Attempting to open the door with the door safety device applied may seriously damage the closing system. ATTENTION: LOAD NOT STERILE, HANDLE WITH CARE

    7. USED WATER MAX LED This LED lights up when the external used water tank is full. See chap. 6.6 "Using the tank". 8. OVERHEAT LED This LED lights up to signal an overheat alarm. See chap. 7.4 Troubleshooting. 9. POWER BUTTON This is the main switch, positioned at the bottom right of the control panel. It is used to switch the machine on and off. When the machine is on, the green button lights up. When the unit is off, the green button is not lit.

    5.2 - START-UP

    The unit is packed with the door ajar. - Open it as shown in the figure. - Take out the equipment from the sterilization chamber and remove the

    packaging. - Connect the external discharge valve as shown in chapter 6.6. - Connect the unit to the power socket following the safety instructions

    described in chap. 4.4.1 "Electrical connections". - Switch on the autoclave with the POWER switch (9 of Fig. 5.1-1) 5.2.1 - Filling with distilled water for the first time 1. Fill the supplied jug up to the mark (approx. 900 ml). This is the amount of water required

    for a cycle.

    2. Pour the water directly into the boiler before performing the cycle.

    WARNING: only use good quality distilled water (chap. 5.2.2 Quality of water).

    NOTE 1: The use of water for generating steam containing contaminants at higher levels that those shown in this table may considerably shorten the working life of a sterilizer and may invalidate the maker's guarantee. NOTE 2: The condensate is produced by the steam that was formed by the empty chamber of the sterilizer.

    5.2.3 - Preparation for sterilization Cleaning the instruments The instruments to be sterilized must first be cleaned, be free from residual material, blood, incrustations, etc.. The above residues can cause damage to the material to sterilize or to the components of the autoclave, furthermore they do not guarantee perfect sterilization.

    Follow the following general instructions:

    - Clean the instruments in cold water after use to eliminate all residues. - Use an ultrasound unit, with a solution of detergent and distilled water. The cleaning cycles must be at

    least 10 minutes. - Follow the manufacturers instructions regarding the use of products and for the cleaning and lubrication

    of instruments after using ultrasound equipment. - Dry the instruments so that no non-demineralised water remains on them, which can cause oxidisation or

    stains due to residual lime-scale. - Wash, rinse and dry also the trays that are supplied.

    WARNING: only sterilize those instruments that can be sterilized with steam from 121C to 134C. ATTENTION: risk of pathogenic contamination, use suitable protective equipment.

    Placing items on the trays For perfect sterilization results and to keep the instruments and objects used in perfect condition, read the following instructions. - Ensure that instruments of different materials are separated and placed on different trays. - Cover the tray with the relative pieces of paper to prevent the instrument from coming into direct contact

    with the tray. - Mirrors should be placed glass side down. - For improved sterilization, open instruments such as pincers, scissors or other composite instruments. - Position the instruments sufficiently distant from one another so that they remain separate during the

    whole sterilization cycle. - Do not stack instruments on the trays: overloading could compromise sterilization. - Empty receptacles must be placed upside down to avoid any accumulation of water inside them. - Do not stack the trays on top of each other, but use the tray support. It is necessary to leave a space

    between each tray to allow for the circulation of steam during the sterilization phase and then to facilitate drying.

    - Place a chemical sterilization indicator on each tray. After following the above warnings, put the tray holder and trays into the sterilization chamber.

    WARNING: insert the tray support and the trays, paying particular attention not to damage the door gasket.

    CHAPTER 6

    6.1 - AVAILABLE PROGRAMMES

    The autoclave has various programmes available, suitably optimised for the sterilization of different materials. The correct choice of programme is essential to obtain a perfect result.

    If the unit is already hot, the total time takes about 6-7 minutes less. N.B.: the above times are indicative and may vary according to how much material is put into the autoclave.

    6.2 - MAXIMUM LOAD

    Do not exceed the max. load specified in the tables in chap. 6.1 Available programmes.

    - Always observe the maximum load, established and checked by Euronda S.p.A., for each solid material to

    sterilize. - The maximum internal load of the machine is shown in the above tables. - The unit is tested and only provides the indicated performance levels if the internal load does not exceed

    the above values for the maximum full load.

    6.3 - STARTING THE CYCLE

    Before beginning to operate the machine, carefully read all the warnings indicated in this manual, especially chap. 4 Safety and chap. 8.6 Using the tank.

    1. Switch on the machine with the POWER button (10 of Fig. 5.1-1) and open the door (Fig. 6.3-1).

    Fig. 6.3-1 2. Insert the trays holding the material to sterilize into the autoclave. 3. Close the door: pull the handle towards you while pushing the door in, and then turn the handle back

    towards the autoclave. 4. Select the cycle type. 5. Press the START/STOP button (6 of Fig. 5.1-1) to start the cycle.

    N.B.: a vent valve expels the air in the chamber during the cycle. It is therefore normal to hear a hiss similar to a leak during operation.

    After the drying phase, the cycle ends with a long audible signal and the END LED lighting up. The safety pin releases at the same time. Only at this point is it possible to open the door and remove the trays and sterilized material with the relative extractor tool.

    WARNING: wait 10 minutes before starting a new cycle.

    ATTENTION: DANGER OF BURNS. When the autoclave finishes the sterilization cycle and the door is opened to remove the sterilized instruments, the inner parts of the boiler and door are still very hot. Do not touch these directly in order to avoid getting burnt (chap. 2.4 Residue risks). Use the relative extractor tool. ATTENTION: DANGER OF BURNS. Do not lean over or stand in front of the door when opening it as there is a risk of scalding from escaping steam (chap. 2.4 Residue risks). Use the relative extractor tool.

    WARNING: at the end of the work cycle, e.g.: in the evening, leave the door ajar.

    6.4.1 - Door release

    ATTENTION: a safety pin automatically locks the door when the cycle starts. The pin automatically returns to its home position only at the end of the cycle. Attempting to open the door with the door safety device applied may seriously damage the closing system. Always wait for the audible end-of-cycle signal and the END LED to light up before opening the door.

    6.5 - USING THE TANK

    The autoclave is fitted with an external tank for used water which is collected at the end of the cycle. The used water drain is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the rear of the unit (1 in fig. 6.5-1). The maximum used water level connector is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the rear of the unit (2 in fig. 6.6-1).

    2) Carefully close the plug of the tank.

    4) Connect the discharge hose to the adaptor on the

    plug of the tank.

    5) Connect the maximum used water level connector (2

    in fig. 6.5-1) to the connector on the tank plug.

    ATTENTION: once monthly, check the hose connecting the external discharge tank. If broken, it should only be replaced by qualified technical staff.

    When after turning on the steriliser or at the end of a cycle, is reached the maximum level in the used water tank (USED WATER MAX LED - 7 in Fig. 5.1-1) sterilisation cycles cannot be performed. The relative LED lights up and remains on until the tank is emptied.

    The USED WATER MAX LED (7 of Fig. 7.1-1) on the control panel lights up whenever the external used water tank is full; it must be emptied before the machine can be used again.

    To perform sterilisation cycles once again, proceed as follows: unscrew the large plug of the external used water collection tanks and drain the tank. Do not drain it completely, but always leave about 3 litres of water (notch n 3).

    ATTENTION: DANGER OF CONTAMINATION. The used water in the discharge tank may, if not properly sterilized, contain contaminated residues: wear latex safety gloves when draining (chap. 2.4 Residue risks).

    ATTENTION: DANGER OF BURNS. When draining the tank, take care if the cycle has just finished as the water could still be very hot.

    NEVER REUTILISE USED WATER.

    ATTENTION: before transporting the machine, fully drain the external tank according to the above instructions.

    ATTENTION: if the tank is disconnected from the unit (for draining or transport), always reconnect the hose before starting a new sterilisation cycle.

    6.6 - STOPPING THE UNIT

    6.6.1 - Emergency stop The sterilization programme can be stopped at any time by turning off the main POWER switch (9 of Fig. 7.1-1) of the autoclave. 6.6.2 - Power blackouts A mains power blackout may occur during the machine cycle. If a blackout occurs during the sterilization cycle, the machine automatically resets and is ready to restart the cycle when power returns.

    ATTENTION: if the green END LED (4 in fig. 5.1-1) is off but the machine is ready to resume the cycle, the sterilisation cycle has not been successful and must be started again.

    The parts in contact with the material to sterilise could contain contaminated residues; it is therefore advisable to use protective rubber gloves during draining and handling operations in order to prevent the risk of pathogenic contamination (see chap. 2.4 Residue risks). 6.6.3 - Long periods of inactivity 1. Disconnect unit from the mains supply. 2. Fully drain the external tank. 3. To drain the external tank, follow the relative instructions (see chap. 6.6 Using the tank). 4. Leave the door ajar. 5. Cover the unit with several sheets to protect it from humidity and dust.

    CHAPTER 7

    7.1 - SAFETY WARNINGS

    Before performing any maintenance operations, carefully read the following safety instructions and, especially, chap. 4 Safety.

    WARNING: When replacing components that directly or indirectly affect safety, it is essential to only use ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS.

    WARNING: DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE STARTING WORK. Non-observance may cause serious injury to people.

    DANGER: HIGH INTERNAL VOLTAGE.

    DANGER: Use suitable personal protective equipment for all maintenance activities

    ALL MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS MAY ONLY BE PERFORMED BY THE RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITY OR THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE. - Observe the intervals prescribed or shown in this manual. - It is forbidden to eliminate the safety devices installed on the machine. Check them at regular intervals. - If an effective danger situation arises, press the POWER button (9 of Fig. 5.1-1) immediately. - Unauthorised people must stay at a safe distance from the machine during maintenance operations. - Any maintenance operations that are not mentioned in this manual may only be performed after informing

    Euronda S.p.A. and receiving its agreement. After maintenance and before starting the unit, the responsible authority must make sure that work has been done correctly, that the safety devices are active and that no-one is already working the unit.

    7.2 - ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Just like all electrical units, this unit must be correctly used, serviced and checked at regular intervals. These precautions will ensure the unit works continuously, safely and effectively. To prevent operator hazards, the unit must be subject to regular checks and servicing by the technical assistance service. - To maintain the unit in good working order, periodically clean all the external parts using a soft damp cloth

    and normal, neutral detergent (do not use corrosive or abrasive products). - Do not use abrasive cloths, pads or metal brushes (or anything abrasive) to clean the metal. - Before starting each cycle, clean the door seals carefully using a damp cloth. - The formation of white stains on the base of the chamber shows that the demineralised water used is of

    poor quality.

    Routine maintenance programme

    FREQUENCY OPERATION

    DAILY Cleaning of the door seal. General cleaning of the external surfaces. General cleaning of the internal surfaces.

    WEEKLY Cleaning of the sterilization chamber. Cleaning of the trays and the support. Cleaning of the external surfaces.

    MONTHLY Cleaning the vent hole. Checking the external tank connecting hose. EVERY 2 YEARS Replacement of the seals. AFTER 10 YEARS Structural control of the sterilization chamber.

    WHEN NECESSARY Adjustment of the closing mechanism. 7.2.1 - Cleaning

    Cleaning the door seal Clean the door seal with a soft cloth (Fig. 7.2.1-1), dampened with water or vinegar, to eliminate traces of lime-scale. Cleaning should be carried out to remove any impurities that could cause a lack of pressure in he sterilization chamber and possible cuts in the seal.

    Warning: do not allow residues of lime-scale or dirt to accumulate on the seal, since these can damage or break it over time.

    Cleaning and disinfecting external surfaces To maintain the unit in good working order, periodically clean all the external parts using a soft damp cloth and normal, neutral detergent or simply with water (do not use abrasive products).

    Do NOT wash the unit with direct sprays or high-pressure jets of water, since any infiltration into the electrical components could prejudice the working of the machine and the safety systems.

    Cleaning the sterilization chamber and accessories Clean the sterilization chamber thoroughly, after removing the tray support (Fig. 7.2.1-2), using a nonabrasive, damp cloth. To dampen the cloth use only and exclusively distilled or demineralised water. Follow the same procedure for cleaning the trays and their support. Cleaning the sterilization chamber is important for eliminating deposits that could compromise the good working order of the machine. To dismount the tray support: 1. lift until the lower part leaves its seat; 2. remove the support from the chamber. After cleaning, perform the above operations in reverse order.

    7.2.2 - Periodic maintenance Lubricating mechanical parts Carefully lubricate the hinge-pins, mechanical joints and closing mechanisms with silicone oil or a similar spray. Adjusting the closing mechanism The closing mechanism of the autoclave occasionally requires adjusting due to normal settling of the mechanical parts and wear on the seal gasket. This is particularly important as a poor seal may prevent the pressure increasing to the level set for the selected programme and therefore jeopardise the result of the cycle. Proceed as follows: 1. Open the door. Always work with the unit cold. 2. Fit the extraction and adjustment lever (supplied, Fig 7.2.2-2 ) between the door gasket and guard (Fig.

    7.2.2-3), holding it with its longest part. Slip the tip onto the nut in the middle of the door gasket.

    Cleaning the vent hole Open the door and unscrew the cap on the top left part of the front, taking care not to lose the copper washer. A wire is attached to this cap. Push this wire in and out several times. (Fig 9.2.2-5). Then screw back the cap after positioning the copper washer which acts as a gasket.

    ATTENTION: The machine may not work properly if the vent hole is clogged.

    Resetting the safety thermostat

    WARNING: the safety thermostat can only be reset by the responsible authority.

    WARNING: make sure the machine has been disconnected from the power supply.

    To reset the safety thermostat, proceed as follows. - Wait for about 10 minutes for the machine to cool down. - Unscrew the protruding cap (in the bottom left hand corner at the front of the unit) (6 of Fig. 3.1.1-2). - Press the red button (1) inside the hole with a pointed object (such as a screwdriver) (Fig. 7.2.2-6). - Screw the black cap on. The machine has now been reset.

    After resetting the safety thermostat, restart the cycle and make sure the fault has been eliminated.

    WARNING: if the fault persists, switch off the autoclave and call the Technical Assistance Service. Do not reset the thermostat again. Perform this operation just once.

    7.3 - EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE

    Any jobs not mentioned above are considered as extraordinary maintenance. In these cases contact specialists.

    WARNING: extraordinary maintenance must be performed by qualified staff only.

    7.3.1 - Rusting The autoclave is made from materials that make it impossible for rust to form on the instruments to sterilize. The formation of rust on the surfaces of the autoclave or instruments is caused by the introduction of rusty instruments, even if made from stainless steel, or of instruments in normal steel that cause galvanisation to take place. The introduction of a single instrument with a rust stain is often sufficient to form and develop rust on the instruments in the autoclave. If rust forms in the autoclave, clean the walls of the sterilization chamber and tray holder using special products for stainless steel, as described in chap. 7.2.1 Cleaning.

    WARNING: do not use metal sponges or brushes. Use a damp soft cloth to remove dirt stains.

    7.4 - TROUBLESHOOTING

    ATTENTION: the use of demineralised water containing acid substances can cause the following effects: - increased oxidisation on more sensitive materials - increase in lime-scale residues on instruments, trays, boiler.

    Whenever your autoclave does not function correctly, before calling the after-sales service department, check the following. PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE SOLUTION

    Power lead not plugged in or badly connected.

    Check the connection at both ends of the lead.

    No power arriving at the socket to which the machine is connected.

    Position the mains switches to ON.

    Fuses blown. Replace the blown fuses with others of the same type and amperage. If the fuse blows again, consult the technician.

    The main POWER switch does not work

    The power switch and/or differential switch are in the OFF position.

    Ensure that the socket into which the power lead is inserted is supplying the required power (see chap. 4.4.1 Electrical connection).

    The ALARM LED lights up a few seconds after the cycle stops.

    The door safety pin does not engage. The door micro does not work.

    Call the technical assistance service.

    Leak between the gasket and the chamber.

    Clean the gasket and the chamber with a damp cloth. Adjust the closing device as described in paragraph "Adjusting the closing mechanism" in chap. 7.2.2 "Periodic Maintenance" and start the cycle again.

    Too much material inside the chamber.

    Consult chap. 5.2.4 Preparation for sterilization.

    The ALARM LED lights up during the cycle. The required pressure is not reached within 45 minutes from the start of the cycle.

    Problem with heater. Call the technical assistance service.

    The safety thermostat has tripped. The sterilization chamber is overheating because:

    Wait for the chamber to cool for about 10 minutes and then reset the thermostat as described in Resetting the safety thermostat in chap. 7.2.2 "Periodic maintenance". Restart the cycle and makes sure the fault has been eliminated. If the fault persists, switch off the autoclave and call the Technical Assistance Service.

    1) clean the door gasket;

    Clean the gasket and the chamber with the damp cloth. Adjust the closing device as described in paragraph "Adjusting the closing mechanism" in chap. 7.2.2 "Periodic Maintenance" and start the cycle again.

    The OVER HEAT LED lights up on the control panel.

    2) fault in the hydraulic circuit. Call the technical assistance service.

    PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE SOLUTION

    The safety valve triggers, with steam coming out of the rear.

    Overpressure in the chamber. Pressure switch not working.

    Turn off the autoclave and call the technical assistance service.

    The door will not open because the handle does not turn. Door locked.

    After an alarm occurs, the door takes 3 minutes to automatically release. Wait and try again. If the autoclave is off, switch it on to release immediately.

    The door does not open. The handle turns but the door gasket remains attached to the chamber.

    Vacuum inside the chamber.

    Turn on the autoclave with the control panel switch, wait for the pressure to equalise and open the door. Pull sharply.

    Leak between the gasket and the chamber.

    Clean the gasket and the chamber with the damp cloth. Adjust the closing device as described in paragraph "Adjusting the closing mechanism" in chap. 7.2.2 "Periodic Maintenance" and start the cycle again.

    Presence of water where the autoclave is sited or on the floor around the autoclave.

    Pipes disconnected inside the machine Call the technical assistance service.

    Clogged chamber filter. Call the technical assistance service. The autoclave does not dry and assistance service. water remains inside the sterilization chamber after the door has been opened.

    Autoclave placed on an uneven surface.

    Place the machine on a flat surface (see chap. 4.3 Work environment: positioning)

    Too much material inside thechamber.

    Consult chap. 5.2.4 Preparation for sterilization. Too much condensation on the

    instruments. Clogged chamber filter. Call the technical assistance service.

    Demineralised water with chemical substances.

    Empty the clean water tank and fill with another type of distilled water.

    Organic residues on the instruments.

    Clean all the instruments with ultrasound equipment and rinse with demineralised water before placing them in the autoclave.

    Contact between different materials.

    Separate the different materials with pieces of cloth.

    Rust or stains on the instruments.

    Lime-scale residues on the surfaces of the chamber.

    Clean the chamber following the instructionsin chap. 9 Maintenance.

    CHAPTER 8

    8.1 - SCRAPPING INSTRUCTIONS

    The symbol on the appliance means that it must be disposed of as sorted waste. The user must therefore send (or instruct other people to send) the unit to one of the sorted waste collection centres set up by the local councils, or send it to the dealer against the purchase of an equivalent unit (European Union only). Sorted waste collection and the subsequent treatment, recovery and disposal operations facilitate the production of equipment using recycled materials and limit the negative environmental and health effects that may be caused by improper waste management. Abusive dumping by the user will be punished according to law.

    8.2 - RESALE If the unit is sold, hand over all the technical documentation to the new purchaser, inform him/her about any repair work carried out and how to use and service the machine. Also inform Euronda S.p.A. of the sale and provide it with data about the new purchaser.
