Asma $ronkial ter%adi aki$at adan&a hiperreakti'itas( edema dan spasme otot $ronkial
&ang kesemuan&a merupakan e)ek dari in)lamasi saluran napas* +n)lamasi terse$ut ter%adi
melalui $e$erapa %alur( &aitu akti'asi sel , helper( peningkatan akti'itas -F./B( dan
ter%adin&a stres oksidati)* Akti'asi sel , helper akan memerintahkan interleukin dan sitokin
untuk mem$uat sel.sel plasma memproduksi mediator.mediator in)lamasi* Enim.enim
proin)lamasi seperti 123 dan 423 $erperan sangat penting dalam produksi mediator
in)lamasi terse$ut* +nterleukin dan sitokin %uga mengakti'asi -F./B* -F./B ini selan%utn&a
memproduksi $an&ak produk.produk proin)lamasi* PPAR5 merupakan pengham$at langsung
dari akti'asi -F./B dan enim.enim proin)lamasi seperti 123 dan 423* Pada asma
$ronkial %uga ditemui peningkatan akti'itas R2S* Peningkatan R2S men&e$a$kan ter%adin&a
akti'asi sel , helper( akti'asi -F./B dan ter%adin&a stres oksidati)* 1ur6umin mampu
mengakti'asi ekspresi PPAR5 karena strukturn&a &ang merupakan agonis dan ligand dari
PPAR5 ( mengham$at 123.7 melalui pelepasan ikatan antigen dengan AP.!( dan
menetralisir R2S karena struktur $is.8.9.unsaturated 9.diketone &ang mampu merusak rantaioksidan* Dengan kemampuan inter'ensi terhadap %alur PPAR5 ( 123.7 dan R2S( 6ur6umin
mampu $erperan se$agai tatalaksana asma $ronkial* ,atalaksana asma pada i$u hamil saat ini
masih memiliki $an&ak e)ek samping( sedangkan 6ur6umin ter$ukti tidak menun%ukkan e)ek
samping dalam $e$erapa penelitian*
