Latar Belakang: Di negara sedang berkembang seperti Indonesia, 80-90
mempunyai hubungan yang bermakna ( p<0,05) dengan partisipasi wanitadalam program skrining kanker leher rahim, yaitu: rewards intrinsic(OR =3,79; 1,43<OR <10,08), rewards extrinsic (OR =3,77; 1,43<OR <9,95),
persepsi keparahan (OR =5,34; 1,28<OR <22,26), persepsi kerentanan(OR =0,28; 0,09<OR <0,84), response efficacy (OR =0,29; 0,09<OR<0,93),
self efficacy (OR =7,92; 2,59<OR <24,23) dan response cost (OR =0,27;0,10<OR <0,72).

Background: In developing countries including Indonesia, 80-90% cancer
patients usually can not be cured because they are already in latestadium. If it was found in early stadium, more than half of them could be
prevented, or even can be cured. Screening program of cervical cancerwith pap smear test is one of prevention of cancer which aimed todecrease the mortality rate caused by cancer. Therefor, active
participation of women is expected as the threat of cervical cancerconsidered as number one of types of cancer that affected women. In
fact, pap smear test is not yet becoming need that causing lowparticipation of women in the screening program of cervical cancer.
Objective: To appraise the association between threat and coping factorswith women participation in the screening program of cervical cancer in theBereau of Cancer Consultation Kuçala Foundation Yogyakarta.Methode: This is an observational research with case control study
design. The subjects of this research were women who did pap smear test(screening) for the first time ini Kuçala Foundation during the 1st of October
2003 to the 10th of January 2004 that were considered as cases and theirneighbor considered as controls. The subjects consisted of 68 cases and
68 controls (1:1). The examined dependent variable was womenparticipation in the screening of cervical cancer. Independent variableswere intrinsic rewards, extrinsic rewards, perception of severity, perception
of vulnera- bility, response efficacy, self efficacy and response cost. Datawas analyzed in univariat, stratification and multivariat methods.Result: The result of this research showed that all independent variables
had significant relationship (P<0,05) with the women participation in thescreening program of cervical cancer, that intrisic rewards (OR=3,79;
1,43<OR<10,08), extrinsic rewards (OR=3,77; 1,43<OR<9,95), perceptionof severity (OR=5,34; 1,28< OR<22,26), perception of vulnerability
(OR=0,28; 0,09<OR<0,84), response efficacy (OR=0,29; 0,09<OR<0,93),self efficacy (OR=7,92; 2,59<OR<24,23) and response cost (0,27;0,10<OR<1,27). There was also one control variable that was social
economic (OR=6,25; 1,38<OR<28,42).Conclusion: The three main threat factors were intrinsic and extrinsic
rewards, perception of severity and one main coping factor was selfefficacy as well as social economic.
