Financial Performance: The Company went trough year 2008 with a better performance than in 2007. The Company has managed to book net income of IDR2.631 trillion in 2008, rising from IDR1.973 billion in 2007. The net income increase was in line with the net sales which stepped up from IDR5.960 trillion to IDR8.161 trillion.

Brief History: As a member of the Astra International Group, the company has grown and expanded into one of the largest oil palm plantations in Indonesia. Among noteworthy events in the course of its history since its establishment in 1988 was its listing in both the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Ex-changes in 1997, offering a total of 125.8 million shares to the public, as well as the issuance of corporate bonds in 2000. To-day the company is the proud owner of 188,831 hectares of cultivated palm oil estates, accounting for 92.7% of the total 203,780 hectares plantations area. The remaining 7.3% of the plantations area comprises rubber, tea, and cocoa.

Financial Performance: Net profit was stepped down in 2008 to IDR173.568 billion compared to IDR206.575 billion in 2007. Foreign exchange loss soaring to IDR243.037 billion from IDR80.306 billion.

Brief History: The history of the company can be tracked to as early as 1911, when NV Hollandsch Amerikaanse Plan-tage Maatschappij, a rubber plantation company was estab-lished. In 1986 Bakrie Group acquired the whole ownership from Uniroyal Sumatera Plantations, which was then owned by Uniroyal Inc.,

USA, and changed the name into United Sumatera Planta-tions (UNSP). At that time, the company was exclusively en-gaged in the rubber plantation business. That year marked the entrance of Bakrie Group into Agribusiness. The year 1990, the company offered 30% of its ownership to public through the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchange, and then the company changed its name to PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk. To differentiate its products, the company has developed superior products as cream latex known as NC 358, to be marketed to specialized rubber industries producing products such as surgical gloves, condoms, and adhesive materials. In addition, the company also produces a chain processed rubber products for specialized applications such as centrifuged latex NC 405, NC 411, and Standard Indonesia Rubber (SIR). Starting 1990, the company expanded its core-business into oil palm platation by establishing its subsidiary PT Bakrie Pasaman Plantations at Pasaman, West Sumatera. In the following year, an existing oil palm company in Jambi by the name of PT Agrowijaya was ac-quired. In 1992, the company also started converting a part of its rubber plantation in Kisaran into oil palm plantation. Besides their nucleus oil palm plantations, PT Bakrie Pasaman Plantation and PT Agrowiyana also developed plasma estates that belong to the local communities. In 1996, PT Bakrie Pasaman Planta-tions built a Palm Oil Mill with 30 tons Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) per hour capacity. The capacity is expandable to 60 tons FFB per hour. The company also owns Kilang Vecolina a cooking ail refinery (MSM) in Karawang, West Java, which uses crude palm oil (CPO) as its raw material.

Financial Performance: The Company recorded net prof-it at IDR398.406 billion in 2008, rising from IDR150.192 bil-lion in 2007. The net profit increase was supported chiefly by higher net sales which climbed up to IDR1.627 trillion from IDR889.588 billion.

Brief History: The company was established in 1983, it had produced and sold 92 superior varieties of corn, vegetables and fruits seeds. The firm currently has the capacity to pro-duce 15,000 tons of field crop seeds and 4,000 tons of fruit and vegetables seeds each year. The company has built 11 experi-mental farms in North Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, Central Java, East Java and West Nusa Tenggara to test new seed va-rieties. To support its ongoing research and development, the company has also built a biotechnology research laboratory in Sumber Agung village, Kediri Regency, East Java. The number of farmers working to grow the company’s hybrid rice and corn has reached more than 45,000, on more than 15,000 hectares of land. In 2002, just 15,000 farmers used 4,900 hectares to test the crops. Most of the farmers live in areas close to the company’s main facilities in East Java and Lampung. Last Decem-ber 2006, the Company purchased a 54.2 percent stake in PT Tanindo Subur Prima for Rp 50.3 billion and a 99.99 percent stake in PT Multi Sarana Indotani at Rp 11.9 billion. Multi Sa-rana, established in 2005 in Mojokerto, East Java, is a pesticide formulation plant that produces more than 30 kinds of fertil-izer, insecticide, herbicide, and fungicide. With the production capacity of 14,000 tons of herbicide per year and 1,500 tons each of granular, liquid and powdered insecticides per year, Multi Sarana controls an 8 percent share of the national pes-ticide market and 3 percent of the specialty fertilizer market. Tanindo Subur Prima is responsible for distributing all of Bisi’s products under the “Cap Kapal Terbang” brand.

Financial Performance: The Company booked net profit at IDR54.750 billion in 2008, or jumped from IDR25.803 billion in 2007. Net sale was in-creased from IDR132.795 billion to IDR290.790 billion. Brief History: The Company was established with name PT. Surya Gemilang Sentosa (SGS) on October 1st 2001 in Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur. On December 19th 2007 the Company has been change the name with PT. Financial Performance: The Company has managed to book net profit at IDR927.555 billion in 2008, rising from IDR564.034 billion in 2007. The net profit increase was in line with the net sales which stepped up from IDR2.929 trillion to IDR3.846 trillion.

Brief History: PT Perusahaan Perkebunan London Su-matera Indonesia Tbk (Lonsum) is one of Indonesia’s leading estate companies, with operations in seed and seedling produc-tion, estate crops, and processing facilities for oil palm, rubber, cocoa, coffee, and tea, while also selling coconut, oil palm, and rubber seedlings.

On July 5, 1996, Lonsum listed on the Jakarta Stock Ex-change. As a company producing commodities traded world-wide, Lonsum has an extensive marketing network both in Indonesia and overseas, encompassing Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Lonsum’s Bah Lias Research Station also produces high quality oil palm seedlings and is a key asset contributing to the company’s market advantage. At December 31, 1999, Lonsum had over 85 thousand hectares of mature and immature plant-ings in various areas of North and South Sumatra, Java, Kalim-antan, and Sulawesi.

The company has launched an ongoing program to strengthen its Information Technology with projects aimed at improving communication, remote access, and problem solving capability. The major operational/financial centers viz. Jakarta-Medan-Palembang, now from the new Wide-Area Network. Lonsum now has its own domain on the internet and a newly develop website (www.londonsumatra.com). As of 31 Decem-ber 2000, Lonsum operates mature and immature plantations with total area of more than 60 thousands hectares in North and South Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, supported by 17 processing facilities and over 26 thousand employees.

Financial Performance: The Company suffered net loss at IDR365 million in 2008, versus net profit at IDR130 million in 2007. The loss profit decrease was caused by net sale de-creased to IDR147 billion from IDR153 billion.

Brief History: The company was founded in 1993 under the name of PT Golden Phoenix and commenced operations in the trading of agricultural and fisheries products. In 1996, PT Golden Phoenix changed its name to PT Wahana Yuda Man-diri. In the year 2000, it changed name again, this time to PT Wahana Phoenix Mandiri.
