In electrical world and electrical industry, we have known many thing of electrical measurement. For example are Volt Meter, Ampere Meter, Cos Phi Meter, Watt Meter , etc. And now we will discuss about Watt Meter. We are as electrical student must know many thing about measuring equipment especially Watt Meter. We can measure power with Watt meter. The power that we know as P is equal to Current time Volt. And we can write it P = V x I. With this formula we can explain how the Watt Meter work. Watt Meter has two coils. A current coil and a voltage coil. The current coil is in series with the source and the voltage coil must in parallel with load. In this case, Watt meter is the same with combination of Ampere meter and Volt Meter but in a frame. When the current and the voltage through the coil the needle will move to the right side. If we use the digital one we can read the result easier.After we talk about what the Watt meter is and how does the Watt meter work, we will talk about the part of the Watt meter. The part of Watt meter is:a. Frame.Frame is the case of Watt meter. It protect us from electric shock because the material of frame usually made by isolator from example are plastic, mica, and atom . Beside that, frame make the Watt meter look nice. b. Current CoilCurrent coil used to measure the current in the circuit.c. Voltage CoilVoltage coil used to measure the voltage in the circuitd. Terminal supplyTerminal supply is the place we can put the cable supply for measuring. e. Terminal coilThere are limite measuring there, it show the capasity or the rate of coil.f. AdjustmentWe can calibrate the needle of watt meter using the adjustmentg. Analog or digital displayThe result of measuring is showing hereh. NameplateWe can read the spec and the multiplier of watt meter from name plate.There are two kind of Watt meter, they are analog and digital. Watt meter usually use in many industry especially in electricity enclosure. And also use in many power plant, in workshop, etc.
