Mrs.Sellers has inspired me to stay true to myself
when making decisions in and out of school, and she is the type of person I strive to
be when I am older.
Dr. Barr [has inspired me because he] showed us wha t
its like to be in college because he doesn't just give us the
answers he makes us go find them so we actually learn.
Coach Schulte inspires me, because she takes time to
make sure her students understand and actually learn and benefit from the activities
we do.
Mrs. Eberhardt inspires me, because she has taught me a lot about being able to play
sports and get good grades at the same time.

With five AP and
weighted classes, senior Reilly Allison is no stranger to a difficult course load. I'm in AP French, AP Physics, AP English, AP Calculus and Human Body Systems this year. I have been taking weighted and AP
classes since sophomore year. Allison said. Through her four years in high school, Allison has established a system that allows her to handle the difficult course load. Make sure to read everything that
you are supposed to and give yourself plenty of time to do it. Also, don't try to do
the work for one class in another, because it will only put you more behind, Allison
said. k. lammert

English teacher Jeremy Boesch shared his expertise towards high school classes and gives his tips for success.
Basically my hardest class is my
Honors Biology class. I get the most
work done in this class, and I have to
study harder for tests. My advice is to
not procrastinate and to take good
notes in class.

What is the advantage to taking more difficult classes?
Higher level classes provide an environment for students that is conducive to pure learning, and it offers a certain kind of challenge that allows students to thrive. What do you think is the most important thing for an AP student to keep in mind?
I often refer in AP classes to something called the 'grit test.' I [tell students] that AP challenges your tenacity to succeed in spite of all the challenges and the hard work that are thrown at you. I want them to know that these classes can be a chance for self discovery.
What are your tips for students in these classes?
I always tell students that it is to their advantage to ask for help when they need it. Many kids struggle through a class that they don't understand, and they don't ask for help where there are teachers that are there for that very reason. Our goal is to help support them and make them feel successful.

One of my hardest classes this
y ear is AP Biology. To survive
t he class, I studied my notes
a nd asked many questions. if I
c ame across something
c onfusing in the homework I
w ould make sure to ask our teacher
the next day. It also helped to have
people I knew in the class that could
help me in labs.

What helps me the most in
AP physics is actually doing
the homework. The tests are
rigorous, and they cover a
broad yet detailed area of
content. You have to do the
problems every night or you
will fall behind.

French teacher Laura Kaiman gave her tips for being successful in a foreign language class.
What are some skills needed to take a high level language class?
You need to be an independent learner and take responsibility for your own learning. The teacher teaches, YOU are the one that is responsible for the learning! No one becomes fluent in a language just by coming to class. You have to spend time outside of class regularly reviewing the material or you will not succeed.
What resources would you recommend to students taking a foreign language?
I give a variety of methods and ideas for students to memorize and practice French so they can find what best works for them. I love [to] use quizlet as my main tool for learning. It has six or seven different games [and] activities for learning material.

A lot of what I do is
writing note cards. You
have to be at least decent

definitely don't expect
