Footwear Design Intern- Kids TeamWorked with the Kids and Studio teams. Generated colorways, rendered shoes using photoshop and keyshot, dabbled with shoe modeling software, ideated for SS16 & FW16, created trend boards, learned how to stitch a shoe, helped drive the aesthetics for a new bottom and two new uppers. Had too much fun.

Toy Design Intern- Nerf Rebelle TeamWorked closely with design and marketing teams to develop products and explored new IP through sketching and rendering. Created image boards, foam core mock-ups of blasters and packaging, and blue sky concept ideation. Got paid to play.

Toy Design Intern- Boys Toys TeamWorked on Battroborg and Pokemon plush products. Created foam core mockups, graphic design decals, communication documents, concept work, market research, and visual assets for presentations.

Reebok VentureflexReebok Spring Internship Personal Project

How can we applly the growing sneaker moc trend to children’s footwear?

Sneaker mocs everywhere.

Design a sneaker moc that is comfortable, minimal, and trendy for on-the-go kids.

Fusion of a fashionable and functional athletic shoe for a 10-12 year old girl who’s pretty, pretty tough.

Nike Fusion

Nike Flywire UpdatePersonal Project

Design a running shoe for young female athletes that fuses fashion and function.

We Run This.

Apply lacing function of vintage boots to the Nike flywire tech in order to create a NU design for the Nike free 5.0 bottom.

Pastels, color changing materials, simple black & white graphics.

Neo Pop

Under Armour BagPersonal Project

Under Armour has been increasing their female market by signing inspiring female athletes. Create an athletic bag for the fashion conscious female athlete.

I Will What I Want.

Design a studio gear bag fusing fashion and sport while incorporating innovative footwear materials. Focus on using all black materials, playing with materials and finishes.

Black is the new black.

Nike Shell TechYouth Football Concussion Prevention

Current adult and youth football protective gear is essentially the same, despite key differences in their anatomy.

These are not the same.

Can redesigning their gear help reduce the risk of concussion in youth players?

Talked to local youth football coaches, athletic trainers, and attended youth football games to gain more insight into the needs of youth players.

Learning From the Pros

Research for DaysAfter doing extensive primary and secondary research I found that the solution wasn’t in the helmet, but in the neck.

At age 12, a youth’s head is 95% that of an adults, while their neck is only 85%. Also, their spine is still developing and mostly consists of cartilidge, causing it to be more flexible.

Stabalize the neck.

Can stabilizing or strengthening a youth’s neck help decrease their risk of concussion?

Incorporating armour aesthetics into the design to make it more appealing to kids.

Prepare for Combat

Shell Tech provides strength and support for the spine

Hot melt on neck mimicks neck muscle, provides lateral

movement support

Made various prototypes out of foamcore and fabric to test how the design should flex. Experimented with laser cuting Poron foam. Explored with layering materials.

3D Visualization

*no brothers were harmed in the development of this pattern.

Dabbled in rudimentary pattern development to nail down the final design.

Ready. Set. Sew.

NIKE SHELL TECHTM

uses advanced cushioning technology to mimize head movement if a strong impact occurs. Laser cut Poron foam helps absorb impacts and protect the spine. Hot melt TPU extends across the sides of the neck, mimicking neck muscles and reducing the impact of lateral forces

Worked with Reebok CAD developers and patternmakers. Learned shoemaker, made 3d prints, experimented with cominbining 3d prints and materials.

Development & Prototypes.

Omni UpdatePersonal Project

Incorporate the Reebok Pump Omni design language into a fresh, more contemporary space.

Out with the old, In with the new.

Mars Landing 2035Product Design Studio SU15 (WIP)

Astronauts are expected to land on Mars by the year 2035. How can NASA and Nike collaborate to design a boot that is well insulated, lighweight, has agressive tooling, and is durable enough to withstand the harsh climate of Mars.
