And Antibacterial Activity Test Of Volatile Terpenoid Compounds From Turpuntine Oils Abstract Identification and antibacterial activity test of volatile terpenoid compounds from turpuntine oils. The natural products resources of turpuntine oils in Indonesia was abundant, but it was less explorated. The objectives of this research were to investigate an alternative of turpentine oil utility such as antimicrobial agent. The methods used to achieve were isolation of volatile terpenoid by means of fractional distillation under reduced pressure. Then, antibacterial acitivity test of fraction distilat yielded by using paper diffusion methods. The last, identification of the active fraction as antibacterial by means of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and infrared spectrom-etry (IR) method. The result indicated two volatile fractions were yielded in the fractional distillation and both of them exhibited antibacterial activity. Meanwhile, structure elucidation informed that composition of first fraction was alpha-pinene (100% purity). Composition fo the second fraction were delta-carene (91,11 %), beta-pinene (3,55%), and alpha-terpinolene (5,34%), respectively.
