veryfty the netwrkHow do I set up a LAN using the VSAT technology, and what is the upper limit to the terminals that can be connected? VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) refers to fixed-position satellite terminals with small diameter antenna dishes (0.6 to 3.8 meter) that participate in two-way or receive-only wireless communication. VSAT topologies include point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and larger on-demand networks. The maximum number of terminals varies by topology and application. According to "VSAT Technology Explained" by Quantum Prime Communications states, point-to-multipoint VSAT networks can include 30 to 40 terminals, depending upon network loading parameters, while Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) networks use a pool of transponder space to support shared access by many more terminals.
