Sifat CVT yang progresif ini memberikan kemampuan yang lebih untuk pemilihan gear ratio. CVT adalah sistem transmisi tanpa gigi yang prinsip kerjanya dengan memanfaatkan perubahan diameter antara pulley penggerak (driver pulley) dan pulley yang digerakkan (driven pulley). Dengan perubahan diameter tersebut mengakibatkan rasio juga berubah secara kontiyu mengikuti perubahan kedua diameter pulley tersebut. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan simulasi CVT dengan melibatkan berat kendaraan, daya dan kecepatan sehingga diperoleh dimensi CVT dan eksperimen model CVT. Eksperimen dilakukan untuk mengetahui kinerja CVT dalam hal ini rasio, putaran output pada driven pulley dan perpindahan secara translasi (A-x) dan pelaksanaan pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan parameter kecepatan dan beban. Hasil eksperimen pada kondisi tanpa beban atau torsi 0 Nm dengan kecepatan putar pengujian pada driver pulley 700 rpm dan 3000 rpm menunjukkan hasil sesuai dengan simulasi dan respon pada driven pulley berubah secara kontinyu baik A-x, diameter dan rasio. Dengan cara pengujian yang sama dan diberi beban torsi yang berbeda-beda yaitu 2 Nm dan 12 Nm dihasilkan hasil yang berbeda pula yang berupa slip antara belt dengan pulley. Akibatnya adalah rasio (i) ideal pada simulasi tidak tercapai dan berubah-ubah untuk setiap beban torsi yang berbeda. Nature of progressive CVT gives more ability for election of gear ratio. CVT is system of transmission without principal tooth its job exploited is change of diameter between pulley activator (driver pulley) and moved pulley (driven pulley). With change of the diameter result ratio also change by continue follow change of second diameter of the pulley. This research is conducted by simulation of CVT entangled heavy of vehicle, power and speed, so that obtained by dimension of CVT. Experiment done to know performance of CVT in this case the ratio, rotation of output of driven pulley and movement of translation (A-x) and execution of examination conducted by using parameter of speed and load. Result of experiment at condition without load or torsion 0 Nm with speed turn around examination at driver pulley 700 rpm and 3000 rpm show result as according to simulation and response at driven pulley change by continuously A-x, diameter and ratio. By same examination and given by load of torsion which different each other that is 2 Nm, 6 Nm and 12 Nm yielded a different result also which is in the form of slip of between belt and pulley.
