Kata Sambutan

Kami menyambut baik dengan diterbitkannya publikasi Bitung Dalam Angka 2014 yang

disusun atas prakarsa Badan Pusat Statistik Kota Bitung. Kota Bitung Dalam Angka 2014 inisangat diharapkan dapat digunakan baik oleh masyarakat Kota Bitung maupun di luar Kota

Bitung secara luas untuk mengetahui dan mengenal kondisi dan keadaan Kota Bitung.

Dalam era globalisasi serta penyelenggaraan pemerintahan dengan visinya yakni Terwujudnya

Bitung Kota Industri, Maritim dan Bahari, yang memiliki SDM handal, mandiri dan SADAR

(Sejahtera, Aman, Demokratis, dan Religius), maka keberadaan buku yang berisi kumpulan

data menyangkut potensi dan pembangunan Kota Bitung sangat relevan untuk menjadi bahan

evaluasi pelaksanaan visi tersebut. Selain itu pihak investor baik dari asing maupun domestik

dapat memanfaatkan buku ini sebagai acuan dalam melihat gambaran Kota Bitung

sesungguhnya baik dari aspek kualitatif maupun kuantitatif.

Foreword

The Mayor of Bitung warmly welcomes the publication of Bitung City in Figures

2014 that was composed of initiative by BPS-Statistics of Statistics (BPS) of BitungCity. It is hoped this publication can be used very well by the people of Bitung itself

and generally by the other in order to know the condition and situation of Bitung City.

Behalf of globalization era and held the local governance with vission that is To Be

Bitung, as Manufacture City, Maritime and Ocean that has excellent human

resources, standing alone and SADAR (prosperous, secure, democracy, and

religious), so existency of some book which cover collection of data about potency

and development in Bitung City it’s so relevant as a matter of evaluation about

programme to get the vission. The other side, investment from overseas, as well as

domestic can use this book as a referency for describing Bitung City in real condition

from the quality and quantity aspects.

However, at this moment sincere thanks to BPS-Statistics of Bitung City for the hard

working to compose this publication. Also lots of thanks to the whole Bitung

Government such as Office, Service, Board and other units for many information and

data have completed this publication.

Giving thanks and praise to God for BPS-Statistics of Bitung City have

finished the publication of Bitung City in Figure 2014.

In this moment we are deeply grateful for the assistance and attention given by

the Mayor of Bitung City to publish this publication also a knowledge all private and

state institutions that have given support and made this publication exist. May the

existing corporation be continued and improved.

It’s hoped that all of the data can describe Bitung City totally situation in

2013. Recent edition use title year 2014 like as previous year published, it’s publish

year where into publication use 2013 data. Publication of Bitung City in Figures

2013 issued in the frame work as one of matter to evaluate of development progress

and also can be used as basic information for regional development planning in all

ARTI LAMBANG KOTA BITUNG EXPLANATION OF BITUNG CITY SEAL

Bentuk dan penggunaan lambang

daerah Kota Bitung, diatur dalam Peraturan

Daerah Nomor 1 Tahun 1991.

Bentuk, warna dan bagian-bagianlambang :

a. Lambang Daerah berbentuk segi lima, bis luar berwarna merah dengan warna

dasar biru laut.

b. Di tengah lambang terdapat gambarsetangkai daun pohon bitung berjumlah

17 helai berwarna hijau, dihubungkan

oleh 8 lingkaran kecil berbis hitam

dengan setangkai mayang bunga kelapa

yang belum mekar berjumlah 45

berwarna kuning emas. Di tengahnya

terdapat sketsa yang terdiri dari :

Symbol was wrote in Local Government

Regulation No.1, 1991.

City Symbol formed a pentagonal, with

the red color at border and fill color is

b. At the middle of symbol there is picture

of leaf stalk of bitung tree numbered 17

leafs colored green, chained by 8 small

circle has black border. There are

coconut blossom numbered 45 golden

color blossom. At the middle there is a

scat that contents of:

SEJARAH KOTA BITUNG

THE HISTORY OF BITUNG CITY

Munculnya Bitung ke medan sejarah

tidak terlepas dari perjuangan seorang yang

bernama Simon Tudus sebagai Tunduang

Wanua Bitung. Berawal dari satu tekad

untuk membuka sebuah huma di kawasan

yang terletak di tepian pantai. Simon

mendirikan sebuah gubuk di bawah pohon

besar di antara sekian banyak pohon bitung

yang tumbuh subur di daerah rawa. Pohon

itu tumbuh di rentang pagar Pos I Pelabuhan

Bitung sekarang dan kurang lebih 30 meter

dari tepian pantai saat air pasang naik.Keberadaan gubuk di huma tentunya

menjadi tempat berteduh khususnya ketika

laut kurang bersahabat. Setiap orang yang

mencari tempat berteduh, Simon Tundus

akan menjawab di gubuk bawah pohon

bitung.

Suatu ketika Simon Tudus sedang

berteduh setelah menyaksikan banyaknya

nelayan berdatangan secara bergantian, tidak

saja dari sekitar Tonsea, Sangihe Talaud danMaluku, Habibu dan Papagami yang

beragama Islam, ia melihat suatu hal yang

mengagumkan yakni bermacam-macam

burung silih berganti hinggap di pohon

bitung. Atas peristiwa ini ia berfirasat bahwa

suatu waktu tempat ini akan didiami oleh

banyak suku bangsa.

Dalam Kamus Sangirees-Nederlands

Woordenboek yang diedit oleh Mr. K.G.F.

Stellen dan Drs. W.Aerbersold dari penulis N. Adrian, 1893, cetakan terakhir tahun

1959, kata Bitung adalah nama sebuah

pohon, Stevige Koroestige Boom. Dalam

bahasa botani disebut Hivia Hospital.

The appearance of Bitung in history

was not apart from struggle of Simon Tudus

as a Tunduang Wanua Bitung. Started from

hard desire to open a farm field infinity of

coastal beach. Simon built a hut under of

tree by named bitung that grew fertile on

coastal area. The plant grew along the gate

of Post I Bitung Port now and it’s about 30

Meter from beach border at the sea level

rose.

However, existence of Simon’s hutbecame shelter place especially when the sea

was choppy. Everyone looked for the place

for took a rest, Simon Tudus would answer,

in hut bellow bitung tree.

Once time, Simon Tudus was taking

a rest after saw many of fisher came over

there, from Tonsea, Sangihe, Talaud,

Moluccas, Habibu, and Papagami as

Moslem fisher. He saw exiting happened,

many kind of birth perched on bitung tree byturns. Base on that event he had intuition

that sometime that place will be settled by

many person from many ethnics.

On dictionary of Sangirees –

Nederland’s Woordenboek edited by Mr.

K.G.F. Stellen and Drs. W.Aerbersold from

the author was N. Adrian (1893), last

published in 1959, the terminology of Bitung

is the name of the tree, Stevige Koroestige

Boom. In botany terminology was called Hivia Hospital.

Dari sekian banyak pertemuan para

nelayan maka kata bitung (Witung) sudah

beralih makna dari nama pohon ke

penunjukan tempat. Akhirnya makna ini

berkembang sampai sekarang.

Para pemukim beragama Kristen

terdiri dari Elias Lontoh Sompotan, Daniel

Mais Pongoh, Hendrikus Langie Langelo,

Martinus Langelo, Andries Rompis, Mais

Pantow, Benyamin Wangi, Andries Hendrik

Dulang Kansil dan Yesaya Malalutan.

Mereka inilah antara lain penduduk Bitung

pertama setelah Simon Tudus yang

merupakan perintis terbentuknya Desa

Bitung (Negeri Bitung).

Pada tanggal 1 Januari 1918 Bitung

diakui oleh Pemerintah Belanda sebagai

suatu negeri, walaupun pengesahannya baru

pada tanggal 1 Januari 1928 setelah

dikeluarkan beslit oleh pemerintah.

Tahun 1926 Theopilus Bawotong,

Frederik Tidatu dan Hendrik Dulok Kansil

mewakili penghuni Desa Bitung menghadap

Hukum Besar Tonsea di Aermadidi.

Tahun 1927 Bitung menjadi desa di bawah Kehukumtuaan Madidir dengan Elias

Lontoh Sompotan, cucu mantu Simon Tudus

diangkat menjadi kepala jaga tuduan. Tahun

1927 Elias Lontoh Sompotan diangkat

menjadi Hukum Tua sampai tahun 1928, dan

diganti oleh H.L.Langelo. Pada 1 Juli 1947

Bitung menjadi distrik bawahan yang berdiri

sendiri terpisah dari distrik bawahan dengan

luas wilayah 19.870 Ha, terdiri dari 13.428

jiwa tersebar pada 11 desa.

Tahun 1964 dengan SK Gubernur

Kepala Daerah Tingkat I Sulawesi Utara

Nomor 244 Tahun 1964, Bitung ditetapkan

menjadi satu Kecamatan dengan jumlah

penduduk 32.000 jiwa tersebar pada 28 desa

dengan luas wilayah 29,79 km².

as a builder of Bitung Village (Bitung

Country).

At January 1st , 1918 Bitung claimed

by Dutch Colonial Government as a statealthough officially at January 1st ,1928 after

published government letter.

In 1926 Theopilus Bawotong,

as representative of Bitung Village

population faced Tonsea High Law Office in

Airmadidi.

In 1927, Bitung became village

under commando of Madidir Old Law Office

where Elias Lontoh Sompotan, grandson bylaw of Simon Tudus directed as head of part

of village (jaga tuduan). In the same year, he

directed as head of village (Old Law) until

1928 and over by H.L. Langelo. At July 1st ,

1947 Bitung as autonomy district release

from other district with wide area 19,870

Hectare contents of 13,428 person spread

over 11 villages.

In 1964 based on Letter of Governor

as Head of North Sulawesi Province No.244,1964, Bitung officially became a district with

number of population 32,000 persons spread

over 28 villages and wide area was 29.79

kilometers square.

Tahun 1967 dibentuklah Kantor

Penghubung atau Wakil Bupati Minahasa di

Bitung, sebagai koordinator seluruh

Pemerintahan dan Pembangunan. Tahun

1968 Gubernur Propinsi Sulawesi Utara

membentuk Badan Koordinasi PelaksanaanPembangunan Bitung.

Awal April 1971 Bupati Minahasa

menetapkan Struktur Organisasi dan Tata

Kerja dari Penghubung Bupati Minahasa di

Bitung.

Pada tanggal 2 Juli 1974, Gubernur

Propinsi Sulawesi Utara mengangkat Wempi

A. Worang sebagai kepala atas 3 lembaga

yakni Penghubung Bupati, Camat danKepala Dinas Pembangunan Bitung.

Berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah

Nomor 4 Tahun 1975, maka pada tanggal 10

April 1975 Kecamatan Bitung diresmikan

sebagai Kota Administratif yang pertama di

Indonesia, dengan luas wilayah 304 km²

terdiri dari 3 kecamatan dan 35 desa. Dengan

semakin berkembangnya Bitung yang

kemudian dijuluki Kota Serba Dimensi yaitu

Kota Pelabuhan, Kota Industri, Kota

Perdagangan, Kota Pariwisata dan Kota

Pemerintahan, pada tanggal 10 Oktober 1990

Kota Administratif Bitung meningkat

statusnya menjadi Kotamadya Daerah

Tingkat II Bitung berdasarkan Undang-

Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 1990, dengan luas

wilayah 304 km², 3 kecamatan dan 44

kelurahan. Drs. S.H. Sarundayang

merupakan Walikotamadya Kepala Daerah

tingkat II Bitung yang pertama.

Pada tahun 1995, sesuai dengan

dengan PP Nomor 43 Tahun 1995 tanggal 6

Desember 1995 terbentuklah Kecamatan

Bitung Timur hasil pemekaran dari

Kecamatan Bitung Tengah. Dengan

demikian Kota Madya Bitung menjadi 4

wilayah kecamatan.

In 1967 was built Representative

Office of Minahasa Regent in Bitung, as a

coordinator of all governmental and

developing activity. In 1968 Governor of

North Sulawesi formed Developing Holder

Coordinating Agency of Bitung.

In the beginning of April 1971 the

Regent of Minahasa formed Organization

Structure and Task Order of Minahasa

Regent Agency in Bitung.

At July 2nd , 1974, North Sulawesi

Governor directed Wempi A. Worang as

Head under 3 agency were Regent Agency,

Head of District and Head of Bitung Developing Service.

Based on Government Regulation

No.4, 1975, that at April 10th ,1975, District

of Bitung officially became first

Administrative City in Indonesia, with area

304 kilometers square contents of 3 districts

and 35 villages. Developing progress of

Bitung as Many Dimension City were Port

City, Industrial City, Trade City, Tourism

City and Governmental City, at October10

th , 1990 Bitung Administrative City

increase the status to be Municipality

(Kotamadya) Level II Region of Bitung

based on Act No.7,1990, with area 304

kilometers square, 3 districts and 44

villages. Drs. SH. Sarundayang was a the

first Mayor of Bitung Municipality.

In 1995, relation with Government

Regulation No.43 dated December 6 th

1995

formed Bitung Timur District as a part

release from Bitung Tengah District. So

Bitung Municipality contents 4 districts.

Memasuki era otonomi daerah,

penyebutan kotamadya dirubah menjadi

“kota” sehingga menjadi “Kota Bitung”.

Pada tanggal 14 Desember 2001 berdasarkan

Surat Keputusan Walikota Bitung Nomor

100 Tahun 2001 Kecamatan Bitung Tengahmekar menjadi dua kecamatan bertambah

Kecamatan Bitung Barat sehingga sejak saat

itu jumlah kecamatan di Kota Bitung

menjadi 5 kecamatan. Jumlah kelurahan juga

mekar menjadi 60 dari sebelumnya yang 44

kelurahan. Dan akhirnya pada tanggal 10

Oktober 2007 kembali Kota Bitung

mengalami pemekaran sehingga menjadi 8

kecamatan dan 69 kelurahan

Kota Bitung dipimpin oleh seorangWalikota yang memiliki masa jabatan 5

tahun. Nama-nama Walikota yang pernah

districts and 60 villages. And finally onOctober 10th 2007, Bitung City spare so thatbecome 8 district and 69 chief of village.

GEOGRAFI

Kota Bitung terletak pada posisi

geografis 1°23'23" - 1°35'39" LU dan

125°1'43" - 125°18'13" BT. Wilayah daratan

Kota Bitung mempunyai luas 33.279,10 ha,terbagi dalam delapan wilayah kecamatan

serta 69 kelurahan, yang sebelumnya terbagi

atas lima kecamatan. Kecamatan-kecamatan

tersebut yaitu Kecamatan Ranowulu,

memiliki 11 kelurahan, kecamatan Matuari

memiliki 8 kelurahan, Kecamatan Girian

memiliki 7 kelurahan, Kecamatan Madidir

memiliki 8 kelurahan, Kecamatan Maesa

memiliki 8 kelurahan, Kecamatan

Aertembaga memiliki 10 kelurahan,

Kecamatan Lembeh Utara memiliki 10

kelurahan, dan Kecamatan Lembeh Selatan

memiliki 7 kelurahan.

Dilihat dari aspek topografis,

keadaan tanah sebagian besar daratan

Bitung atau

45,06 persen

berbukit dan

32,73 persen

bergunung.

Hanya 4,18

merupakan

dataran landai

serta sisanya

berombak.

Mulai dari

bagian Timur,

dari pesisir

secara fisik dapat dikembangkan sebagai

wilayah perkotaan, industri, perdagangan

dan jasa serta pemukiman.

GEOGRAPH I CAL

Bitung City were geographically

located at 1° 23'23" - 1° 35'39" North

latitude and 125° 1'43" - 125° 18'13" East

longitude. The land area of Bitung are33.279,10 hectares, divided into 8 districs

and 69 villages. Those districs are :

Ranowulu contain 11 villages, Matuari

contain 8 villages, Girian contain 7 villages,

Madidir contain 8 villages, Maesa contain 8

villages, Aertembaga contain 10 villages,

North Lembeh contain 10 villages and South

Lembeh contain 7 villages.

From the topographical aspect point

of view, most of land part of Bitung formed

hilly type (45.06 percent) and 32.73 percent

was

mountainous.

It’s only 4.18

percent formed

slope area andthe rest (18.03

percent) is

undulate area.

From the

eastern part of

Bitung, started

from

Aertembaga’s

coast, until

Tanjung

Merah in thewestern part,

the land was

relatively flat

with 0 – 15

degree declivity, so physically it can be

developed as urban, industrial, service and

trade, and also settlement area.

Pada bagian utara, keadaan topografi

semakin bergelombang dan berbukit-bukit.

Bagian utama dari lahan tersebut merupakan

kawasan pertanian, perkebunan, hutan

lindung, taman marga-satwa dan cagar alam.

Di bagian Selatan terdapat sebuah

pulau yakni Pulau Lembeh. Keadaan

tanahnya secara umum kasar dan ditutupi

oleh tanaman kelapa, hortikultura serta

palawija. Pulau Lembeh memiliki pesisir

pantai yang indah dan mempunyai potensi

untuk dikembangkan menjadi daerah wisata

bahari.

Di Kota Bitung terdapat delapan

buah gunung, yaitu Gunung Duasudara(1.351 m), Gunung Tangkoko (774 m),

Gunung Batuangus (1.099 m), Gunung

Klabat (1.990 m), Gunung Woka (370 m),

Gunung Lembeh (430 m), Gunung TemboanSela (430 m), Gunung Wiau (861 m).

Gunung Batuangus masih tercatat sebagai

gunung berapi namun tidak aktif. Juga

terdapat lima buah sungai kecil yang

bermuara di Selat Lembeh, yaitu Girian,

Sagerat, Tanjung Merah, Tewaan,

Rinondoran.

In the northern part, the

topographical condition was more hilly and

undulate. The main parts of the area are

farmfield, botanical garden, protected forest,

nature park and animal protection park.

In southern Bitung there is an island,

which is called Lembeh Island. It soil

characteristic generally was coarse and

covered by coconut plants, horticultures

and others crop planted. Lembeh Island has

a beautiful beach and very potential to be

developed as marine tourism area

There are eight mountains in Bitung

City ; Mount Duasudara (1,351 M), MountTangkoko (774 M), Mount Batuangus

(1,099 M), Mount Klabat (1,990 M), Mount

Woka (370 M), Mount Lembeh (430 M),

Mount Temboan Sela (430 M), Mount Wiau(861 M). Mount Batuangus was still

classified as a volcano, but it is inactive.

There are also five small river which ended

in Lembeh Strait; Girian, Sagerat, Tanjung

Merah, Tewaan, and Rindondoran.

IKLIM

Seperti daerah lainnya di Indonesia,

di Kota Bitung hanya dikenal dua musim

yaitu musim kemarau dan musim penghujan.

Keadaan ini berkaitan erat dengan arus angin

yang bertiup di wilayah ini. Pada bulan

Oktober sampai dengan bulan April biasanya

terjadi hujan. Hal ini disebabkan karena

angin bertiup dari arah Barat/Barat Laut

yang banyak mengandung air. Sedangkan

Hal ini terjadi karena dipengaruhi oleh arus

angin dari arah Timur yang tidak banyak

mengandung air.Secara umum suhu rata-rata per

bulan hasil pengukuran Stasiun Meteorologi

Bitung pada tahun 2013 adalah sebagai

berikut : suhu terendah terjadi pada bulan

November yakni 24,2OC dan tertinggi

33,6OC di bulan Maret.

Sebagai daerah tropis Bitung

mempunyai kelembaban udara relatif tinggi

dengan rata-rata per bulan pada tahun 2013

berkisar antara 75 sampai dengan 80 persen.

Jumlah curah hujan di Kota Bitung

cukup beragam menurut bulan. Menurut

catatan Stasiun Meteorologi Bitung curah

hujan tertinggi selama tahun 2013 terjadi

pada bulan Februari yang mencapai 326,0

mm. Sedangkan pada bulan Oktober curah

hujan mengalami titik terendah yakni hanya

26 mm. Di bulan April diwarnai dengan hari

hujan terbanyak yakni 26 hari. Keadaan

iklim Kota Bitung secara lengkap dapatdilihat pada Tabel 1.5.1 s/d Tabel 1.5.6.

CL I MATE

Like as others place in Indonesia,

Bitung City has only two seasons ; dry and

wet. This condition was strongly related withthe wind flow in this area. In October until

April, the season was usually rainy. It is

caused by the wind which blew from

west/north west that contained a lot of water.

On the contrary, June until September

usually is a dry season. It’s happened

because it was influenced by the wind flow

from East, which not contain much water.

Station of Bitung in 2013 was: lowest

temperature, 24,2OC, occurred in
