The recent emerging technology in the power system is the smart grid with assuredefficiency, reliability, interoperability, and security. This system is facing manychallenges based on constraints like advance measuring and sensing system, integrated communication system, advance grid components, advance control

methods, and advance interface and decision support. Information technology is usedby the smart grid which is a planned nationwide network and is used to deliver

electricity in a secure, reliable, and efficient way. The smart grid is also meant aselectricity with the brain which facilitates two-way communication, and flow of

energy and information to and fro.

Facilitate the integration of renewable energy resources that is intermittent, and also helps

in de-carbonizing the power systems.

It permits secure and consistent power and information flow through both ways.

Facilitates effective demand management, energy efficiency, and customer choice.

Self-healing through power disturbance measures, and

Function robustly against cyber and physical attacks.

The smart Grid is an electric power system that is used as an end-to-end cyber-enabled system. A Smart grid uses fuel source to production, transmission, supply, and end-use that will:

The best possible allocation and control decision of penetration of renewable energyresources into the grid helps to reduce the loss and cost of operating, therebyimproving the efficiency of the Smart Grid and their sustainability.

Structuring, control issues, and optimization are essential for the development of theSmart Grids.

The latest techniques such as mixed-integer programming, stochastic programming, heuristic method, adaptive dynamic programming or evolutionary programming canbe used to achieve optimization and control issues.

The infrastructure of the communication should be in place between the electricitymarket and the transmission system, generating facilities and the system operator.

Information on various power system parameters are collected using smart deviceslike special monitors, smart meters, sensors, and the collected information istransmitted to the controlling and monitoring equipment.

Information is transmitted by smart devices through the two-way communication path.

The medium of communication is radio frequency communications, power line carrier(PLC) communications, cellular communication, internet through WiFi networks, fiberoptic, satellite, etc or a hybrid network.

5G networks facilitate fetching high-quality services with improved scalability in theSmart Grid.

The conservative state estimation has limitations which show the computationalcomplexity and delay in communication, and are caused due to the dynamic andthe distributed power grids.

Therefore by implementing the 5G network, this can be easily ignored and also itfacilitates distributed and advanced state estimation schemes.

A smart grid is an electricity grid and integrates the actions and behavior of all entitiesconnected. Three types of entities are there in the SG.

They are generators that produce electricity, consumers who consume electricity, and theentities that can do both actions.

These entities together form a peer-to-peer network to make certain whether thedistribution of the electricity is efficient.

This network also helps to minimize the loss, produce high quality, and maintain low lossesand a high level of quality.

There are many communication technologies like wired andwireless communication technologies that are used in thesmart grid.

Smart Grid systems also help in improving the efficiency ofenergy sources, cost, utility, and emission.

The main goal of the smart grid is to improve the efficiency ofenergy, demand and supply, emission control, reduction ofoperation cost, and increasing utility.

One of the significant objectives in Smart Grid is the reductionof CO2 emission.

Conclusion

The 5G services in the smart grid help to create extensively and the significantacquisition of information sharing from the system at the exact timescale as well asinnovative computing techniques and huge storage backup.

This offers vast support for future smart grids which helps in monitoring the accessand improving the control amongst large networks.

This work establishes the emergence of the new age 5G networks with smart gridsand paves the way for the new researchers to work on emerging technology withsmart grids.
