> Clause/klausa adalah kelompok kata yang memiliki subyek dan predikat. Terbagi menjadi 2, yaitu independent clause (induk kalimat) dan dependent clause (anak kalimat).

> Adjective clause/klausa adjektif adalah anak kalimat yang memodifikasi kata benda (menjelaskan, mengidentifikasi, atau memberikan tambahan informasi mengenai kata benda.)

> Selalu mengikuti kata benda (penjelasannya tepat berada di belakang/setelah kata benda yang akan dijelaskan).

> Diawali dengan kata ganti who, whom, which, whose, when, where, dan that. (which benda, that benda & orang)

CONTOH1. Penggunaan subject pronoun ‘who’

2. Penggunaan object pronoun ‘whom’a. The little girl is my neighbour.

I saw her at the park. The little girl whom I saw at the park is my neighbour.

b. I knew that man.I met him last week. I knew that man whom I met last week.

3. Penggunaan subject & object pronoun ‘which’a. The novel is good

It was written by Jane Austen. The novel which was written by Jane Austen is good.

b. The dress is lovely.Emily is wearing it. The dress which Emily is wearing is lovely.

c. I have a class.It begins at 08.00 a.m. I have a class which begins at 08.oo a.m.

d. My brother asked me a question.I couldn’t answer it. My brother asked me a question which I couldn’t asnwer.

4. Penggunaan possessive pronoun ‘whose’a. The woman was sad.

Her cat died. The woman whose cat died was sad.

b. Emma is my best friend. I borrowed her dictionary. Emma whose dictionary I borrowed is my best friend.

c. I met Andre.His car was stolen. I met Andre whose car was stolen.

d. I called Mr. Smith.I saw his dog on the street. I called Mr Smith whose dog I saw on the street.

5. Penggunaan ‘when’a. The year is 1980.

You wer born in that year. The year when you were born is 1980.

b. I’ll never forget the day.I met you on thet day. I’ll never forget the day when I met you.

6. Penggunaan ‘where’a. The building is very old.

He lives in that building. (there) The building where he lives is very old.

b. That is the restaurant.We will meet there. (at that restaurant) That is the restaurant where we will meet.
