    Product Description

Mobil SHC 600 Series oils are formulated using a Mobilunique and proprietary synthetic base oil technology andadditives that enhance oxidation stability, improve foam

control, maintain superior stability in the presence ofwater, and provide protection against rust, corrosion, andwear. Synthetic base oils provide longer oil life overconventional mineral oils. Mobil SHC 600 Series oils havea naturally high viscosity index (VI) compared to mineraloils, providing lower viscosity at lower temperatures andhigher viscosity at higher temperatures. This high VI

allows the oil to flow at cold temperatures so equipmentwill start. It also means viscosity will be maintained at hightemperatures to provide wear protection.

The low traction coefficient and high viscosity index of the

Mobil SHC 600 Series combine to reduce power consump-tion s ubs ta ntia lly. Lower equipment operating temperaturesmean that friction has been reduced and therefore, lesspower is consumed. This results in extended equipmentlife and allows for more economical equipment design andextended lubricant life.

    Applica tions

Mobil SHC 600 Series oils are recommended for industrialbearings and gears over the widest range of operatingtemperatures. They are particularly effective where high oiltemperatures result in short oil life and high maintenancecosts for parts replacement, system cleaning, and lubricantchanges.

Mobil SHC 627, 629 and 630 are suitable for Oil FloodedRotary Screw Compressors compressing natural gas, fieldgathering gas, CO 2 and other process gasses used in thenatural gas industry.

These wax-free, high-viscosity-index oils also provideunequaled lubrication of bearings and gears in extremelow-temperature applications. The Mobil SHC 600 Series

oils are compatible with mineral oils and with the followingseal materials: fluorocarbon, polyacrylate, polyurethaneether, silicone, ethylene/acrylic, chlorinated polyethylene, polysulfide, and some Buna N. There is the potential forsubstantial variations in the elastomers being used today. For best results, consult your equipment supplier, sealsupplier, or your local Mobil Territory Manager to verifycompatibility.

When changing to the Mobil SHC 600 Series, the systemshould be cleaned and flushed thoroughly to achieve themaximum performance benefits of the product.

    Advan tages

Mobil SHC 600 Series will provide the following advantagesover mineral oils:

Better high-temperature oxidation stability Improved low-temperature fluidity Lower operating temperatures Extended lubricant life Reduced power consumption Improved foam control Superior stability in presence of water (hydrolytic stability

and demulsibility) Outstanding rust and corrosion protection

    Health and Safety

Based on available toxicological information, these productsproduce no adverse effects on health when properlyhandled and used. No special precautions are suggestedbeyond attention to good personal hygiene, includinglaundering oil-soaked clothing and washing skin-contactareas with soap and water. Material Safety Data Sheetsare available upon request from your Mobil lubricantssales office, or via the Internet on www.mobil.com.
