PEMANFAATAN KOMPOS DAN AIR KELAPA SEBAGAI MEDIA PERTUMBUHAN DALAM TEKNIK PERBANYAKAN TANAMAN

ABSTRAK

Teknik kultur in vitro meskipun memberikan banyak keuntungan namun tidak mudah untuk dilaksanakan, bila biaya terbatas. Untuk dapat mengatasi akan sulitnya biaya dalam pembelian medium, perlu dicarikan alternatif pengganti bahan medium pertumbuhan yang diharapkan tetap mampu menumbuhkan potongan jaringan. Kompos merupakan hasil dari fermentasi sampah organik mudah untuk didapatkan dan kandungan senyawa kimia kompos juga merupakan hara dalam bentuk garam mineral. Air kelapa yang merupakan hasil samping dari budi daya kelapa juga jumlahnya cukup banyak didapatkan di lingkungan sekitar, dan kandungan senyawanya selain unsur hara, vitamin juga mengandung zat pengatur tumbuh antara lain, auksin, sitokinin dan giberelin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dasar yang akan mencari komposisi kompos dan air kelapa yang tepat untuk menumbuhkan potongan jaringan. Hasil menunjukkan makin tinggi konsentrasi kompos makin tinggi persentasi potongan jaringan yang tumbuh menjadi tunas. Penambahan air kelapa meningkatkan persentasi pertumbuhan eksplan dan penyaringan kompos juga meningkatkan persentasi pertumbuhan eksplan menjadi tunas. Namun pada penelitian ini belum menunjukkan adanya perbanyakan tunas. Kata kunci : kompos, air kelapa, media tumbuh, perbanyakan tanaman, kultur in vitro

USE OF COMPOST AND COCONUT WATER AS MEDIA FOR PLANT GROWTH IN VITRO PROPAGATION

ABSTRACT

In vitro culture techniques provide many advantages though but not easy to implement, if the cost is limited. To be able to overcome difficulties in the purchase cost of the medium, the need to find alternative materials growth medium is expected to remain able to grow explant. Compost is the result of the fermentation of organic waste is easy to obtain and the chemical content of the compost is also a nutrient in the form of mineral salts. Coconut water is a byproduct of coconut cultivation is quite a lot available in the neighborhood, and the content of compounds other than nutrients, vitamin also contains substances such as growth regulators, auxin, cytokinins and gibberellins. This research will look for the composition of compost and coconut water right to regenerate explant. The results showed higher concentrations of the higher percentage of compost explant that grow into shoots. The addition of coconut water increases the percentage growth of explants and screening compost also increased the percentage growth of explants to shoot.
