Dear Colleagues,It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this prestigious 17th National Congress of Pediatric (KONIKA) 2017 in conjunction with the 11th International Congress Tropical Pediatrics (ICTP), organized by Indonesian Pediatric Society - D.I. Yogyakarta Branch. This Congress will be held on August 6-11, 2017 at Mataram City International Convention Centre (MICC), The Alana and Convention Centre Yogyakarta.

The theme of the Congress is "Implementing Advances In Pediatrics For Better Child Health”. We provide Key note Speech, Plenary Session, Plenary Symposia, Parallel Symposia, Breakthrough Symposia, Lunch Symposia, Breakfast Meeting and Free Paper Symposia. The scientifi c congress gives pediatric professional a forum to advance the understanding of pediatric diseases, to improve diagnosis and quality of care for patients. We are certain that all participants will be inspired to put what they have learned into practice.

We do hope that your proposed to visit Yogyakarta will be one of your unforgettable moments. Yogyakarta province is known as a center of classical Javanese fi ne art and culture such as batik, silver, ceramic, ballet, drama, music, poetry and puppet shows. There are many valuable heritages that can be seen today as the inheritance of the past kingdoms (Mataram). Yogyakarta serves many tourism choices, including: natural tourism (such as Lava tour, Pindul Cave etc), historic tourism (such as Sultan’s Palace, Taman Sari Water Castles, Prambanan Temple etc), educational tourism, and the newest tourism, “night tourism”, such as night festivals and art exhibitions.

Moreover, Yogyakarta is famous for its great food with a large international community and great local recipes. The city off er plenty of culinary options for visitors and Gudeg is the famous one in Jogjakarta that you can have it all around the city.

Dear colleagues,

Please allow us to cordially welcome you to The 17th Indonesian Congress of Pediatrics (KONIKA XVII) in Yogyakarta which will be held from August 6-11, 2017.

As Indonesian pediatricians, we share the same vision with members of Asia Pacifi c Pediatric Association (APPA) as well as International Pediatric Association (IPA) to ensure that all children attain good health so that they can grow, develop, and fulfi ll their human potential. KONIKA is the largest meeting in Indonesian Pediatric Society which is held every three years. It is an excellent forum to learn, discuss evidence-based knowledge in child health and share our experiences, expertises, results of research studies, and what we can do better in order to bring that vision into reality.

This year’s theme addresses the importance of “Implementing Advances in Pediatrics for Better Child Health”. In an eff ort to equip every Indonesian pediatrician with required skills, essential knowledge, and ethical conduct. We hope that each of us can serve as leaders in building our community health. Therefore, topics related to Sustainable Development Goals such as stunting, the fi rst 1000 days of life, immunization, adolescent health, and noncommunicable diseases will be discussed here. KONIKA XVII will also be held in conjunction with The 11th International Congress of Tropical Paediatrics.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to reap benefi ts from this event and apply better practices in child health settings. GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH PAPER AWARD SUBMISSIONThe deadline for full paper submission is on April 1, 2017

1. The 17th Indonesian Congress of Pediatrics in Yogyakarta organizes Research Papers Award that is open for ALL MEMBERS OF INDONESIAN PAEDIATRIC SOCIETY, i.e. either paediatrician or paediatric resident.

2. Paper sent by a pediatric resident should have a cover letter sent by the head of the study program (IPDSA). In the cover letter, the head of the IPDSA should certify the investigator to be the student of the respective IPDSA. Paper sent by a pediatrician should mention his/ her IPS membership number (NPA IDAI).

3. The paper should be presented by the principal investigator.

4. The principal investigator should be registered as the 17th Indonesian Congress of Pediatrics ‘s participant to be able to submit paper(s).

5. The research paper is written in Bahasa Indonesia and is written in accordance to the Sari Pediatri in-house style (available at saripediatri.idai.or.id/pedoman.asp).

6. Full paper must be submitted online into the provided system (www.konika17jogja.com)

7. The deadline for full paper submission is on April 1, 2017 at 23.59 WIB

8. All papers will be reviewed by appointed juries. The selected top 10 (ten) fi nalists will be invited to present their paper in the Award Papers Presentation Session.

Prognostic factors at birth for stunting at 24 months of age in rural Indonesia

Background: The problems of stunting are its high prevalence as well as the complexity of its risk factors. Identifying the modifiable prognostic factors at birth may reduce the shortterm as well as longterm effects of stunting in later life.

Objective: To estimate the influence of prognostic factors detected at birth for stunting at 24 months of age and the occurence of reversal of stunting at 24 months of age among children in a rural area of Indonesia.

Methods: Subjects (n=343) were born to mothers participating in a randomized controlled, double-blind, community-based study of vitamin A and/or zinc supplementation during pregnancy and followed from June 1998 to October 2000. The children were followed prospectively from birth until 2 years of age with monthly measurements of length from birth to 12 months, and again at 18 and 24 months. Data on potential prognostic factors detected at birth, i.e., maternal, child, and household facilities, were collected by trained field workers at home visits. The incidence and risk ratio were calculated to assess the influence of the possible prognostic factors detected at birth on stunting at 24 months of age among these children.

Results: Boys who were born prematurely had significantly higher risk of stunting at 24 months of age compared to girls born maturely. The incidences of stunting at 24 months of age according to gender, and gestational age were 33.9% boys vs. 22.5% girls (RR 1.80; 95%CI 1.06 to 3.09), and 33.3% premature vs. 27.6% mature (RR 7.11; 95%CI 2.07 to 24.48), respectively.

Conclusion: Boys who were born prematurely have significantly higher risk to become stunted at 24 months of age. The occurrence of reversal of stunting at 24 months of age is low.

ULLEN SENTALU MUSEUM

Ullen Sentalu Museum is a Javanese culture and art museum located in Kaliurang highland, Yogyakarta. The museum displays relics and artifact from royal houses and Kraton of Java of the Mataram Dinasty (Kasunanan Surakarta, Kesultanan Yogyakarta, Praja Mangkunegaran, and Kadipaten Pakualaman), with batik collection both from Yogyakarta and Surakarta.
