These examples.. verbs was struck and has been found in the form of passive voice.

Subject ball and gold refer to things receiving the actions described verbs.

B. Formation indicate Mood of Passive Voice

For every tense in the active voice, there is a link in the passive tense voice. In passive

voice, the verb to be functioning as an auxiliary. Passive voice of the verb tenses English

linkages formed from conjunctions to be followed by the past participle form of the verb.

1. Simple Present Indicative

Example, simple present indicative form of to be, and simple present indicative form of

passive voice verbs to show dikonjungsikan as follows:

Simple Present Indicative of To Be Simple Present Indicative of Passive Voice

of To Show

I am I am shown

you are you are shown

he is he is shown

she is she is shownit is it is shown

we are we are shown

they are they are shown

2. Indicative tenses other

Similar, other indicative tenses of the passive voice form, the verb to show conjunctions as

shown in the following table. Linkage form of verb tenses to be included for purposes of

comparison.

Indicative Mood formation of Passive Voice

Simple Present am/is/are past participle

Present Continuous am/is/are being past participle

Present Perfect have/has been past participle

Present Perfect Continuous** have/ has been being past participle

Simple Past was/were past participle

Past Continuous was/were being past participle

Past Perfect had been past participle

Past Perfect Continuous** had been being past participle

Simple Future will (shall) be* past participle

Future Continuous** will (shall) be being past participle

Future Perfect will (shall) have been past participle

Future Perfect Continuous** will (shall) have been being past participle

Note :

* Other auxiliaries capital form as will and shall conjunctions.

** Present perfect continuous, past perfect continuous, future continuous, future perfect

and continuous tenses of the passive voice complicated and rarely used. Only the simplest

form tenses of the passive voice will be discussed.

Examples of passive voice sentences:

1. Passive Voice [Simple Present Tense]

-Pattern = Subject + to be + Verb3

Example :

A : They buy a food ev eryday

P : A food is bought buy them

2. Passive Voice [Present Continous Tense]

-Pattern = Subject + to be + being + Verb3

Example :

A : She is drinking a glass of tea

B : A glass of tea is being drunk by her

3. Passive Voice [Present Perfect Tense]

-Pattern = Subject + have/has + been + Verb3

Example :

A : We have done our homework

B : Our homework have been done by us

4. Passive Voice [Simple Past Tense]

-Pattern = Subject + to be (was were) + Verb 2

Example :

A : I swept the floor yesterday

B : The floor was swept by me

5. Passive Voice [Past Continous Tense]

-Pattern = Subject + to be (was were) + Verb3

Example :

A : We were typing a letter

B : A letter was been typed by us

1) Change the following affirmative statements into questions.

example:

You are required to attend the meeting.

Are you required t o attend the meeting?

She is being ignored.

Is She being ignored?

1. They should be notified.

2. He might have been allowed to come.

3. You had been told about it.

4. They will be needed.

5. It has been adjourned.

6. They were being prepared.
