Target Audience Conclusion

We undertook some further research into our target audience and took a look at the kind of people that were leaving reviews on films

that are similar to our own. From this research combined with the rest we could come to a conclusion on who our target

audience is.

Audience Reviews From Our Film Genre

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

“If you can relate to the underlying theme of love longed for, love given and received, and love lost, this is a great film. If you have come to understand that acceptance can -sometimes- be a great thing and not a compromise or a 'settle for' - this is a moving film.”

This review can be assumed to come from a woman's perspective. She’s moved by the romantic side of this film and finds it quite clearly moving. Women maybe more concerned with the romantic elements of our film.

“The story is a twisted and complicated tale from the same man who brought movie-going audiences such award-savvy features as Being John Malkovich and Adaptation."

This review is written by a man who is more concerned with trying to understand the twisted storyline most likely watched the film because they had seen films from this particular director and enjoyed their work and figured they would enjoy the complicated story line.

“This is the best film I have seen all year, and I saw just about every good film to hit theatres in 2013. I think it's because it is so representational of what it's like to be human.”

This review doesn’t focus on the romantic side of the film but instead on how it delves into what it’s actually like to be a human being. The person is most likely male and is concerned with the inner workings of the character rather than the love story.

“While the idea behind the movie is sorta-kinda unique (Smart House, anyone?), the actual romantic plot line was so poorly executed I couldn't even believe it.”

This a review from a woman who is clearly more concerned with the poorly executed romance rather than the film concept that takes on a slightly different approach to romance

BirthFrom the haunting opening to the heart-breaking ending... this film is an absolute masterpiece

Nicole Kidman's performance for starters, an intriguing premise and a beautiful score. But this is a partial birth. Nothing is taking to completion. Scenes seem to start and then we're left with nothing.

This is a review from a woman who remembers mostly heartbreak after watching the film. The use of the word ‘heartbreak’ clearly illustrates the gender behind the review. Such language wouldn’t be used by a man to describe a film.

This review takes a more artistic approach to the film and analyses the scenes and the plot rather than sad story that is being illustrated to them, most likely a review written by a man.

ConclusionAfter analysing and looking at all of the research we have undertaken when

looking at or target audience we have come to the conclusion that our target audience is women aged 16-24 with a secondary age group of 30- 40. Men are also a secondary target audience ranging from the same age group. The

demographics are BD&E Our targets audiences psychographics will be mainstreamers, strugglers and explorers. By using interviews and researching

into films that our similar to ours we have clearly identified with our target audience. The women interested in a film like ours will be more concerned with how the romance in our film is executed whereas men will be more

concerned with the subverted side of the storyline.
