1.0 INTRODUCTIONS

Entrepreneur is as people who is work up the industry namely entrepreneur. Entrepreneur

intended as job by industry or trade on big scale job. Apart from entrepreneur is a businessman

that should be taking risk combine factors of production including capital, labor, material and

receive reward through profit from the good's market value. In easy words, an entrepreneur going

to act as people who manage something economic activity especially organize, own, manage and

bear a business risk and is one innovator which could cause to something new innovation.

Entrepreneur also is a manager that led the business and gets all proprietorship authority up to

that business. As such it bears business risk. An entrepreneur has the vision and should expand

business for society's prosperity. Entrepreneur also would be someone that wants to have

freedom in their business, make own decision and further want to success on their own effort.

In conclusion, an entrepreneur also a dealer which involves with self effort to create own

products, give priority to success and satisfaction not just thinking about profit only by follow all

Date of Passed Away: 2 Mei 2008 di Los Angeles, California, Amerika Syarikat.

Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin was born around year 1955. He ever interested on car and

automobile industry. He receive early education in Sekolah Rendah Tunku Munawir from 1961

until 1966. He also receive education in Sekolah Menengah Tuanku Muhammad, Kuala Pilah,

Negeri Sembilan.

3.0 EARLY INVOLVEMENT

In year 1974, when he is 19 years old, he already saved RM 80,000 in the bank account as a

result from helping his father as a contractor and he saved the salary. He starts his automobile

business with a provision Approved Permit (AP) to import foreign manufacture car. The

profitability of this job results worth a million ringgit in a year.

Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin is one of the malay businessmen and entrepreneur that had

succeed in Malaysia. He is the Kumpulan Naza Managing Director which was established in

year 1979. He involved in various types of business such as motor business, hotel, plantation,

engineering, freight service, machine tool, manufacturing, agency insurance and so on.

In that year, Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin showed his business ability when he decided to import car -

Japanese car where at the time made car Japan is popular among Malaysian people. He has to

face several challenges, including financing and how to get customers' confidence - customer to

buy the used car when many between Malaysian less interested in foreign car. However the

enthusiasm and belief in the business making his business continue to strive for direct success.

can be seen when he bought 20 AP ( Approved Permit ) pass to Japan, where he finish three

months and bring back first 20 units Japan used car which successfully sold in the course of three

months. He starts automobile business in a shop at Taman Maluri and sell 10 to 15 unit car in a

month. In year 1979, he opens his new branches in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur to further his

retailing business and sell 40 to 60 unit cars in one month. Through this experience, he acquire

efficiency to find and identify the business opportunity that exists and capable to expand through

the market. This competency was a important factor in success and a business endurance also

extended the business life.

Tan Sri Nasimuddin is one who got the self believe which is important factors in a

entrepreneurship. This case can be seen through his interest to buy 40 % interest and take over

national car industry Malaysia, PROTON that reportedly faced finance crisis. He said that he

already outline the plan to restore Proton if Malaysian governments allow him buy that company

importance of control. This attitude can be seen when a person in entrepreneur are not afraid to

try at any risk that will be faced. With well-read and collecting knowledge especially in fields

that specialized is one of the method increase the self confidence. Having belief on self ability to

achieve something that had been wishing for by expressing feelings and believe on the ability in

working something out or answer the challenge.

4.3 Import Permit Issue

Naza have been criticized before by Parliament members and former Prime Minister, Tun Dr.

Mahathir because had caused loss national owned company, PROTON suffer losses due to Naza

brought in foreign car on a large scale are mainly from South Korea purportedly cheaper

compared PROTON made's car. Naza also criticized by Tun Dr. Mahathir because has been

granted Approved Permit (AP) which many from the government. Dr. Mahathir state a company

not could bring in imported car on a large scale. Opposition leader have convicted Minister of

International Trade and Industry, Rafidah Aziz who is also in-laws parents to Nasimuddin

involved in APs grant that too many to Naza and all this while have invoked power that he there

is to develop Naza. However most that permit approved during Tun Mahathir rule itself and this

criticism carried out after his withdrawal.

4.4 National Car Issue

Rafidah Aziz and government has been criticized by Dr. Mahathir because has given Kereta

Nasional standard namely Malaysian made car to MPV that generated by Naza, Naza Ria. Dr.

Mahathir said Naza Ria could not be granted Kereta Nasional standard because it ratted on

Kereta Nasional classification that is fixed by the government. Either reason why Dr. Mahathir

criticise the status conferral to Naza Ria are because many of the vehicle components produced

in Korea and stand out a mile it is made car Korea not Malaysian made car. Naza management

just kept shut and has not issued any the statement this criticism.

Naza alleged be successfully a company which successfully because the existence of Rafidah

Aziz that can influence decisions Cabinet in the economic matter especially automotive affairs. It

refuted by Rafidah Aziz by stating all opportunities achieved by Naza given fairly and free from

the wrong use of power.

Perseverance attitude that residing within Tan Sri Nasimuddin make his company got 14

business division which covered various industry such as cigarette distribution, credit and rental,

engineering, hotel, insurance, engine spare part, manufacturing, automotive, property, transport,

and dare to act although forced to face resistance from other party. He ever involved in import

permit controversy in year 2005, when titled "Raja AP". There is claim that he and three most

important industrialists is being monopolize import permit production that produced by

government to Bumiputra entrepreneur to import car. The government claimed to produce tens

thousands vehicle import document to him for free each year that sold with AS$8,500 price each.

This controversy heated Parliament and UMNO General Assembly. His firmness in facing this

controversy has led the compromise where, Malaysian cabinet have stop the import permit

system and work with a new automobile policy.

As appreciation on service and his contribution, SM Nasimuddin conferred several awards and

title, including Panglima Setia Mahkota award ( P.S.M. ) by DYMM His Majesty Baginda Yang

DiPertuan Agong, which brought title Tan Sri. Apart from that, he also awarded the Industry

Service Medal, South Korea President, from Son SangHa, the ambassador who come to

Malaysia on behalf of South Korea President. That award was given because his contribution on

automotive industry. He is the first Malaysian that was given award from that country.

7.0 CONCLUSION

The conclusion that we got based on our paper project topic, Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin,

is by through interest on something, it can urge success such as his words, For achieve succeed

you must like what you doing and you must know what you will going through. You must have

some plan and had direction and in your business, it must be start from small and walk step by

step.

Apart from that, he have perspective plan and short-term by gathering some money as much as

RM 80,000 at the age 19 years by helping his father that work as contractor to buy the used car

from Japan. He also clever in taking the opportunities by selling Japans carwhich at that time,

the Malaysian like to use Japan product and hold Malaysian franchise to South Korea for Kia's

cars and French for Peugeot's cars. He also holds the import permit for Mercedes Benz's and

Mazda.

His behavior as an entrepreneur successfully shows in making decision and giving some

opinions. This attitude was shown when he denies the case which ten thousands production

controversy imported car permit document given to him by the government with certain value.

Self-confidence inside himself was benefit the country and save national pride by buying 40

percent the stake of national car production company, PROTON that experience economic crisis

result financial problem and was saved that company.

Through successes that are achieved by him he also is awarded by some title, including Panglima

SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin has been appointed the NAZA Group of Companies ChiefExecutive Officer, taking over the role from his father Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin who

passed away on May 1 2008. The announcement, made by Puan Sri Zaleha Ismail, the wife ofthe late tycoon, noted that the appointment was in line with the wishes of the former CEO.

SM Nasarudin, 25, will also assume the post of Groups Executive Chairman. He is the secondson in the family and prior to this appointment, he was already involved in a variety ofsubsidiaries of the family-owned group of companies which was established in 1974.

Though best known in Malaysia for its automotive business, the Naza Group is also involved inmanufacturing, transport services, machine tools & parts, engineering, plantations, cigarettedistribution, credit & leasing, watercrafts, properties, food & beverage outlet, hotel operationsand insurance.
