    Motorola recommends you alwaysuse Motorola-branded batteries andchargers. The warranty does not coverdamage caused by non-Motorolabatteries and/or chargers. Caution: Useof an unqualified battery or chargermay present a risk of fire, explosion,leakage, or other hazard. Improper

    battery use, or use of a damagedbattery, may result in a fire, explosion,or other hazard.

    Important: Motorola mobile devices aredesigned to work best with qualifiedbatteries. If you see a message on your

    display such as Invalid Battery or Unable toCharge, take the following steps:

    Remove the battery and inspect itto confirm that it bears a Motorola

    Original Equipment hologram; If there is no hologram, the battery

    is not a qualified battery;

    If there is a hologram, replace the

    battery and retry charging it; If the message remains, contact a

    Motorola Authorized ServiceCenter.

    New batteries or batteries stored for along time may take more time tocharge.

    Charging precautions: Whencharging your battery, keep it near

    room temperature. Never exposebatteries to temperatures below 0C(32F) or above 45C (113F) when

    charging. Always take your mobiledevice with you when you leave yourvehicle

    When storing your battery, keep it in a

    cool, dry place. It is normal over time for battery life to

    decrease, and for the battery to exhibitshorter runtime between charges or

    require more frequent or longercharging times.

    Avoid damage to battery and mobiledevice. Do not disassemble, open,

    crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred,or submerge the battery or mobiledevice. Avoid dropping the battery ormobile device, especially on a hardsurface. If your battery or mobile

    damage, take it to a MotorolaAuthorized Service Center beforeusing. Donotattempt to dry it with an

    Use care when handling a chargedbattery: Particularly when placing it

    inside a pocket, purse, or othercontainer with metal objects. Contactwith metal objects (e.g., jewelry, keys,beaded chains) could complete anelectrical circuit (short circuit), causingthe battery to become very hot, whichcould cause damage or injury.

    Promptly dispose of used batteries inaccordance with local regulations.Contact your local recycling center forproper battery disposal.

    Warning: Never dispose of batteries in afire because they may explode.

    1 Pull out the connector cover, and insert

    the charger into the accessory connectoron your phone as shown.

    2 Plug the other end of the charger into theappropriate electrical outlet.

    When you charge the battery, the batterylevel indicator at the upper right of the screenshows charging progress. At least onesegment of the indicator must be visible toensure full phone functionality while charging.

    charge from your computer

    You can partially charge your phonesbattery by connecting a Motorola-approvedUSB cable from your phones mini-USB port

    to a high power USB connector on acomputer (not a low-power one, such as theUSB connector on your keyboard or bus-powered USB hub). Typically, USB high-

    power connectors are located directly on yourcomputer.

    Note: The phone will be charged at a slowerrate than it is charged with the rapid charger.

    Your computer must be turned on, and youmust have correct software drivers installedon your computer. If the Phone is off when

    the USB cable is connected between thecomputer and the phone, the phone willpower up in charging mode. This mode allowsthe phone to charge fastest and quickest.

    Note: If the battery is very low, the phone willnot turn On, but it will continue to charge at alow rate. The phone will power up in chargingmode when the battery has been charged toapproximately 5% of its capacity. For fastercharging under a very low battery condition, itis recommended to use the rapid chargersupplied with the handset.

    If the phone is turned on while charging from

    a computer, it will not fully charge the battery.In this case, the battery charge will bemaintained approximately between 80% and95% of the battery's capacity. Cables and

    software drivers are available in MotorolaOriginalTM data kits, sold separately.

    Tip: Motorola batteries have circuitry thatprotects the battery from damage fromovercharging. Of course, unplugging thecharger from the wall will prevent the batteryfrom overcharging.

    5 Enter the number for the entry and pressa under Done to save the entry.

    Tip: Before saving the entry, you can savemore information. You can store E-mailaddresses, IP addresses, or Talkgroup IDs.You can assign each number a speed dialnumber and voice name. You can also create

    Contact entries that are groups of Private IDscalled Group IDs and/or SDG lists.

    After you have saved the number, the newContacts entry is displayed.

    Auto Clean Up: Set this option to On if you want

    your phone to delete sent messages.If you set Auto Clean Up to On, select Clean Up Afterto set the number of days after which sentmessages are deleted or the number ofmessages to be kept.

    Quick Notes: Quick notes are short, pre-writtentext messages that you can create, edit,and send in your text messages. You canstore up to 20 quick notes. A quick note

    may be up to 30 characters long.You can create a [New Note] or pressaunder Editto change the pre-written quicknotes.

    1 Set this option to On or Locked.Setting this option to On lets you turnVibrate All off by pressing the up volumecontrol. Setting this option to Locked

    requires you to press and hold the upvolume control to turn Vibrate All off. TheLocked option helps prevent you fromaccidentally turning Vibrate All off.

    To set Vibrate All to On or Locked using the volumecontrols: Press the volume controls to turndown the volume as far as possible to setVibrate All to On. Continue to hold the downvolume control to set Vibrate All to Locked.
