Definition

Modal Auxiliaries digunakan untuk

menambah makna khusus pada katakerja utamanya (main verb). Misalnya:menunjukkan kemampuan (ability), ijin

(permission), kemungkinan (possibility),keinginan (willings), dan keharusan(obligation)

-menyatakan masa depan (future)

Shall digunakan untuk menyatakan masadepan dengan syarat subyeknya adalah Iatau We. Selain itu, shall digunakan untukmeminta saran atau pendapat.

Example:

I shall attend the meeting.

Shall I go despite the rain?

Kegunaan CAN untukmenyatakan kemampuan/ketidakmampuan

(ability/possibility)

- izin informal (informal permissionExample:

-I can do what she does now, even better!

Kegunaannya untuk menyatakankeharusan dan kesimpulan. Untukmenyatakan keharusan, bisa digantikan

dengan have to.

Example :

-Rian must see a doctor today.

-I have to study hard tonight.

-Sarah should have been sleepy when shedrove so the accident happened.
