A. Tinjauan umum

Lamiaceae, juga disebut Labiatae, keluarga mint dari tanaman berbunga,

dengan 236 genus dan lebih dari 7.000 spesies. Digunakan oleh manusia sebagai

tanaman herbal dan berguna untuk rasa, aroma, atau obat. Spesies dari Lamiaceae

terutama merupakan herba atau semak-semak dalam berbagai ukuran, jarang

berupa pohon. Siklus hidup dari anggota Lamiaceae mungkin tahunan atau abadi.

Batang biasanya persegi, terutama ketika muda, tegak atau berbaring di tanah.

Daun berhadapan atau melingkar, decussatus dan kelenjar-bertitik. Sering daun

sangat aromatic karena minyak ethereal yang terletak di rambut kelenjar. Bunga-

bunga tersebut diatur dalam cymes aksila kompak (verticillasters), misalnya

Herba tegak atau berbaring pada pangkal dan ditempat itu berakar

banyak, menahun, harum; tinggi 0,5 - 1,5 m. Batang berambut. Tangkai daun

2 - 9 cm; helaian daun bulat telur, dengan pangkal yang membulat atau bentuk

baji dan ujung yang menyempit, di atas pangkal yang bertepi rata beringgit

kasar, berbeda dalam cara berambut dan warna hijau (hijau sampai
