Forum Grafika Digital (FGD)is a non-profit organization for graphic arts practitioners, keen graphic observers and academic institutions. It also includes experts in professional graphic design, photography, advertising, publishing, pre-press work, along with printing, post-press and packaging services; converting companies in Indonesia. While FGD’s Vision and Mission is in fact to promote graphic arts industry, science and technology in digital development, it has also founded strong and mutually-rewarding relationships with international graphic institutions.

The Development Of Graphic Industry in IndonesiaOpportunities and ChallengesAs a developing country with a population of more than 220 million, spread throughout a vast archipelago, Indonesia currently shows significant growth and increasing needs for numerous graphics products. This can be observed from a variety of indicators directly related to the graphics industry, such as advertising, paper consumption, graphics companies and the packaging industry.

AdvertisingOver the years, there has been a steady increase in retail advertising revenues, both in private and governmental sectors, as clearly displayed in the following chart:

Forum Grafika Digital (FGD) Sebuah organisasi nirlaba untuk pelaku industri grafika, pengamat grafika, dan institusi akademik, juga para pelaku industri yang terdiri dari desain grafis, fotografi, periklanan, penerbitan, pra cetak, percetakan, pasca cetakan, pengemasan, dan perusahaan converting di Indonesia. Visi dan misi FGD adalah untuk memperluas industri grafika, serta ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi di dalam perkembangan digital. FGD juga membina hubungan dengan institusi grafika internasional.

Perkembangan Industri Grafika di IndonesiaPeluang dan TantanganSaat ini, sebagai negara berkembang dengan jumlah penduduk lebih dari 220 juta orang yang tersebar di seluruh kepulauan, Indonesia telah menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang signifikan atas peningkatan kebutuhan akan produk-produk grafika. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari berbagai indikator yang berkaitan langsung dengan industri grafika, seperti:

PeriklananDari tahun ke tahun terjadi peningkatan jumlah belanja iklan baik sektor swasta maupun pemerintah. Peningkatan tersebut dapat dilihat dalam grafik di bawah ini:

Konsumsi Kertas Kenaikan kebutuhan kertas diperkirakan rata-rata 5% per tahun dari 2004 – 2009, sebagaimana yang ditunjukkan melalui grafik berikut ini:

Paper ConsumptionPaper requirements are rising steadily, with an annual increase averaging 5% since 2004 and are expected to keep increasing until 2009 [projected]. The following chart illustrates the current and expected increase in paper consumption:

Graphics CompanyPPGI or the Indonesian Graphics Industry Association, states that there are approximately 25,000 companies dealing in graphics-related industry since 1997. By 2010, it is predicted that the number of companies will increase to 27,500.

Packaging IndustryFPI (Federation of Indonesian Packaging Companies) has concluded that packaging businesses in Indonesia has grown steadily due to expansion of plants as well as new investments. These packaging plants answer the increasing demand in consumer goods among Indonesians.

Perusahaan GrafikaMenurut catatan PPGI (Persatuan Perusahaan Grafika Indonesia), sejak tahun 1997 terdapat sekitar 25.000 perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang grafika, yang pada tahun 2010 nanti diprediksikan mengalami pertumbuhan hingga mencapai angka 27.500 perusahaan.

Industri PengemasanFPI (Federasi Pengemasan Indonesia) mengungkapkan bahwa minat pelaku usaha untuk melakukan penanaman modal atau ekspansi produksi mereka di Indonesia menunjukkan peningkatan yang cukup drastis. Hal ini disebabkan oleh peningkatan jumlah penduduk Indonesia dan tingkat konsumsi masyarakat yang semakin tinggi.

FGD-EXPO Semenjak diadakannya FGD-Expo pada tahun 2003, 2005, dan 2007 FGD-Expo telah mendapatkan tanggapan yang baik dari para pelaku grafika. Hal ini terbukti dengan bertambahnya jumlah peserta dari ketiga pameran FGD-Expo tersebut.

FGD-EXPO Since its inception in 2003 with the launch of FGD Expo 2003 at the Semanggi Expo Ground, and subsequently followed by the launch of FGD Expo 2005 & 2007 at the Jakarta Convention Center, the Organizing Committee of FGD Expo has received numerous praise and favorable response from the Indonesian graphic arts industry.
