LAMBANG DAERAH KOTA METRO
Lambang Daerah Kota Metro “Bumi Sai Wawai” disahkan berdasarkanPeraturan Daerah Kota Metro Nomor 1 Tahun 1999 tanggal 8 November 1999tentang Lambang Daerah.
Lambang Daerah berbentuk Perisai dengan warna dasar biru menggambarkantekad dan kesanggupan masyarakat yang majemuk yang mempertahankancita-cita Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Negara Kesatuan Republik IndonesiaTanggal 17 Agustus 1945 berdasarkan Pancasila dalam melaksanakanpembangunan daerah dalam upaya untuk mewujudkan tujuan Negarasebagaimana tertuang dalam Pembukaan Undang-Undang dasar 1945.
Makna lambang :
Pada Lambang Daerah, bagian bertuliskan ”METRO” berwarna merahdiatas dasar berwarna putih, menggambarkan Kota Metro bagian dariNegara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.
Garis Tepi yang yang melingkari Lambang Daerah bewarna kuning,menggambarkan tekad tulus untuk menegakkan serta membinapersatuan dan kesatuan bangsa.
Dalam Lambang Daerah bagian atas terdapat Siger , mencirikanbahwa masyarakat menjunjung tinggi kebudayaan daerah sebagaibagian dari kebudayaan bangsa.
Siger bewarna kuning keemasan dengan 9 (sembilan) buah mahkota,mencirikan bahwa Kota Metro terletak di Lampung.

Diatas siger terdapat Payung Agu ng , melambangkan pengayomanbagi warga daerah.
Payung Agung terbagi dalam 4 (empat) bidang besar, 27 (dua puluh
tujuh) bidang kecil dan berumbai dibagian bawah kiri dan kananmasing-masing 9 (sembilan) untai sebagai tanggal terbentuknya KotaMetro ( 27 – 9 – 1999).
Setangkai padi dan setangkai kapas, melambangkan kemakmuran dankesejahteraan rakyat.
9 (sembilan) buah biji kapas, dan 6 (enam) buah cincin pengikat serta37 (tiga puluh tujuh) butir padi merupakan Hari Jadi Ko ta Metro ( 9 – 6 – 1937).
Nyala api, pena, dan buku di tengah-tengah antara padi dan kapas
menggambarkan semangat warga daerah untuk mengarahkan Metromenjadi Kota Pendidikan.
Sehelai pita berwarna putih bertuliskan ”Bumi Sai Wawai” dalamaksara Lampung mengandung makna upaya yang terus menerusuntuk menjadikan daerah sebagai bumi yang bagus atau indah danasri.

REGIONAL SYMBOL OF METRO CITY
Urban Metro Coat Sai Wawai Earth "endorsed by a City Metro RegionalRegulation No. 1 of 1999 dated November 8, 1999 on the Regional Seal.
The shield-shaped emblem area with a blue base color describes thedetermination and ability to maintain a pluralistic society Proclamation of
Independence of the Republic of Indonesia On August 17, 1945 based on thePancasila in implementing regional development in an effort to realize the goalof the State as stated in the Preamble to the Act the basic 1945.
Symbol ism :
At the regional emblem, part reads "METRO" is red on a white base,Metro City illustrates part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
Line that circles the edges of the Regional Emblem colored yellow,depicting sincere determination to uphold and foster national unity.
In the Regional Coat the top there is Siger, characterizing that societyupholds the culture of the region as part of the nation's culture.
Siger colored golden yellow with a 9 (nine) of fruit the crown,characterizing that Metro City is located in Lampung.

Above there siger Great Umbrella, symbolizing shelter for localresidents.
Great umbrella is divided into 4 (four) major field, 27 (twenty seven) ofsmall fields and tufted at the bottom left and right respectively 9 (nine)strand as the date for the formation of a City Metro (27 - 9 - 1999).
Sprig sprig of paddy and cotton, symbolizing prosperity and welfare.
9 (nine) of fruit seed cotton, and 6 (six) rings binder and 37 (thirtyseven) of grain is the Anniversary of Metro City (9 - 6 - 1937).
Flame, pens, and books in the middle between the rice and cottonareas illustrate the spirit of the citizens to direct the Metro intoEducation City.
A piece of white tape labeled "Earth Sai Wawai" in Lampung script
contains some kind of meaning that continue to attempt to make thearea as good or beautiful earth and beautiful.

disusun oleh Badan Pusat Statistik Kota Metro.
Publikasi ini memuat gambaran umum tentang kondisi geografi,

Metro.

Metro In Figures is an annual publication that has been compiled and
published by BPS - Statistics of Metro City.
This publication provides general picture of geographic condition,
government, socio-demographic and economic characteristic of Metro City.Metro In Figures will be continously improved to meet the need of data
users.
Highly appreciation is expressed for those who has involved and
contributed in preparing this publication, especially regional institutions as the
secondary data resources.
Comments and suggestions for future improvement will be pleased and
appreciated. Finally, it is our sincerely hope that the publication of Metro In

alluvium (campuran liat galuh dan
pasir) dengan tanah lotosol dan
podsolik.

Pada umumnya klimatologi Kota
Metro sama dengan klimatologi
Propinsi Lampung, yaitu :
a. Arus angin
Kota Metro terletak di bawahgaris khatulistiwa 5o Lintang
Selatan, beriklim tropis-humid
dengan angin laut yang bertiup
dari Samudera Indonesia dengan
dua arah angin setiap tahunnya,
yaitu:
1. Pada bulan November -
Maret, angin bertiup dari arah
Barat ke Barat Laut.2. Pada bulan Juli - Agustus,
angin bertiup dari arah Timur
dan Tenggara.
Kecepatan angin rata-rata
5,83 Km/jam.
b. Temperatur
Pada daerah dataran dengan
ketinggian 30 – 60 m, temperatur
minimum 22oC.c. Kelembaban Udara
Rata-rata kelembaban udara
sekitar 80% - 88% dan ternyata
akan lebih tinggi pada tempat
yang tinggi.

6. PENDUDUK
Jumlah penduduk Kota Metro
setelah pemekaran wilayah
tahun 1999 adalah sebesar
115.789 jiwa, terdiri dari 58.458
jiwa laki-laki dan 57.331 jiwa
perempuan, dengan sex ratio
sebesar 101,97.
Sedangkan menurut hasil
Sensus Penduduk 2000 yang
dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni
2000 oleh BPS tercatat jumlah
penduduk Kota Metro sebesar118.448 jiwa yang terdiri dari
59.678 laki-laki dan 58.770
perempuan dengan sex ratio
sebesar 101,55.
Penduduk Kota Metro pada
tahun 2010 berdasarkan hasil
Sensus Penduduk Tahun 2010
adalah sebesar 145.471 jiwa
yang terdiri dari 73.027 laki-lakidan 72.444 perempuan dengan
sex ratio sebesar, 101, 80.
7. ADAT ISTIADAT
Secara umum masyarakat adat
Kota Metro adalah masyarakat
adat pepadun, yang terkenal
dengan istilah Abung Sewo
Mego dan Pubian Telu Suku,
kalaupun ada masyarakat adatpeminggir hanya beberapa
desa saja.
Upacara-upacara adat pada
umumnya nampak pada acara
perkawinan/pernikahan dimana
dilakukan menurut tata cara
adat tradisional disamping
kewajiban memenuhi hukum
agama Islam.
6. POPULATION
The population of Metro City

Tata cara dan upacara perkawinan
adat pepadun pada umumnya
menurut garis keturunan patrilinial
terlihat dari adanya “jujur” yakni
berupa pemberian sejumlah uang
dari pihak mempelai laki-laki
kepada pihak mempelai wanita, dan
adanya “sesan” yakni berupa alat-
alat rumah tangga komplit sebagai
bawaan mempelai wanita untuk
menuju hidup baru bersama
suaminya. “Sesan” tersebut akan
diserahkan pihak keluargamempelai wanita kepada pihak
keluarga mempelai laki-laki pada
saat upacara perkawinan
berlangsung yang sekaligus
sebagai penyerahan formal (secara
adat) mempelai wanita dari
keluarganya kepada pihak keluarga
mempelai laki-laki. Dengan
demikian secara hukum adat makaputus pula hubungan secara adat
(bukan secara kekeluargaan) antara
mempelai wanita dan keluarganya.
Upacara perkawinan adat pepadun
pelaksanaannya dapat dengan cara
adat Hibal Serba, Bumbang Aji, Ittar
Padang, Ittar Manom (cakak
manuk) dan Sebambangan.
Prinsip-prinsip dalam kehidupansehari-hari menunjukkan suatu
corak keaslian yang khas dalam
hubungan sosial antar masyarakat
Lampung yang disimpulkan dalam 5
(lima) prinsip, yaitu:
a. Piil Pesengiri
b. Sakai Sambaian

“ Pii l Pesengir i ” diartikan sebagai
segala sesuatu yang menyangkut
harga diri, perilaku dan sikap yang
menjaga dan menegakkan nama
baik dan martabat secara baik dan
martabat secara pribadi maupun
berkelompok senantiasa
dipertahankan. Dalam hal-hal
tertentu seseorang (lampung)
dapat mempertaruhkan apa saja(termasuk nyawa) demi untuk
mempertahankan piil pesengiri
tersebut. Selain itu, dengan piil
pesengiri nya seseorang dapat
berbuat sesuatu atau tidak berbuat
sesuatu meskipun hal itu akan
merugikan dirinya sendiri secara
materi.
“Sakai Sambaian ” mengandungmakna dan pengertian yang luas,
termasuk diantaranya tolong
menolong, bahu membahu dan
saling memberikan sesuatu
kepada pihak lain yang
memerlukan. Dalam hal ini tidak
terbatas pada sesuatu yang
sifatnya materi saja, tetapi dalam
arti moral termasuk sumbangantenaga, pikiran dan lain
sebagainya.
“Nemui Nyimah ” berarti bermurah
hati dan ramah tamah terhadap
semua pihak baik terhadap orang
dalam satu klan maupun di luar
klan dan juga

" Pi i l Pesengir i " is defined as anything
related to self-esteem, behaviors and

but in the moral sense, including
donations of energy, mind, and so
forth.
“Nemui Nyimah ” means generous
and warm-hearted towards all parties
both to the people in one clan andoutside clan and also

terhadap siapa saja yang
berhubungan dengan mereka. Jadi
selain bermurah hati dengan
memberikan sesuatu yang ada
padanya kepada pihak lain, juga
sopan santun dalam bertutur kata
terhadap tamu mereka.
“Nengah Nyappur ” adalah tata cara
pergaulan masyarakat Lampung
dengan sikap membuka diri dalam
pergaulan masyarakat umum agar
berpengetahuan luas dan ikutberpartisipasi terhadap segala
sesuatu yang sifatnya baik dalam
pergaulan dan kegiatan masyarakat
yang dapat membawa kemajuan
dan selalu bisa menyesuaikan diri
terhadap perkembangan jaman.
“Bejuluk Baedek” adalah salah
satu tata ketentuan pokok yangdiikuti (Tittei Gamettei) dimana
seseorang disamping mempunyai
nama juga diberi gelar sebagai
panggilan terhadapnya. Bagi orang
yang belum berkeluarga diberi
julukan (bejuluk) dan setelah kawin
diberi adek (baedek) yang biasanya
pemberian adek ini dilakukan atau
dilaksanakan di dalam rangkaianupacara atau waktu pelaksanaan
perkawinan/ pernikahan.

8. SEJARAH SINGKAT
a. Jaman Belanda
Wilayah Kota Metro sekarang pada
waktu jaman pemerintahan Belanda
merupakan Onder Distrik Sukadana
pada tahun 1937 yang termasuk
dalam Marga Nuban. Masing-
masing Onder Distrik dikepalai oleh
seorang asisten Demang,
sedangkan Distrik dikepalai oleh
seorang Demang. Atasan Distrik
adalah Onder afdeling yang
dikepalai oleh seorang Controleurberkebangsaan Belanda.
Tugas dari asisten Demang
mengkoordinir Marga yang dikepalai
oleh Pesirah dan didalam
pelaksanaan tugasnya dibantu oleh
seorang Pembarap (wakil Pesirah),
seorang Juru tulis dan seorang
Pesuruh (opas). Pesirah selain
kepala marga juga sebagai KetuaDewan Marga. Pesirah dipilih oleh
Penyeimbang-penyeimbang
Kampung dalam marganya masing-
masing.
Marga terdiri dari beberapa
kampung yaitu dikepalai oleh
Kepala Kampung dan dibantu oleh
beberapa Kepala Suku. Kepala
Suku diangkat dari tiap-tiap suku dikampung itu.

Pada jaman Jepang, Residente
Lampoengsche Districten diubah
namanya menjadi Lampung Syu,
yang dibagi menjadi 3 (tiga) ken,
yaitu :1. Teluk Betung Ken
2. Metro Ken
3. Kotabumi Ken
Wilayah Kota Metro sekarang, pada
waktu itu termasuk Metro Ken yang
terbagi dalam beberapa Gun, Son,
marga-marga dan kampung-
kampung.
Ken dikepalai oleh Kenco, Gundikepalai oleh Gunco, Son dikepalai
oleh Sonco, Marga dikepalai oleh
seorang Margaco dan Kampung
dikepalai oleh Kepala Kampung
c. Jaman Indonesia Merdeka
Setelah Indonesia merdeka dan
dengan berlakunya Pasal 2
Peraturan Peralihan UUD 1945,maka Metro Ken menjadi
Kabupaten Lampung Tengah,
termasuk Kota Metro di dalamnya.
Berdasarkan ketetapan Residen
Lampung No. 153/d/1952 tanggal 3
September 1952 yang

Menghapuskan daerah marga-
marga dalam Keresidenan
Lampung; 2) Menetapkan kesatuan-
kesatuan daerah dalam Keresidenan
Lampung dengan nama “Negeri”,
sebanyak 36 Negeri; 3) Hak milik
marga yang dihapuskan menjadi
milik Negeri yang bersangkutan.
Dengan dihapuskannya
Pemerintahan Marga maka
sekaligus sebagai gantinya dibentukPemerintahan Negeri. Pemerintahan
Negeri terdiri dari seorang Kepala
Negeri dan Dewan Negeri. Kepala
Negeri dipilih oleh anggota Dewan
negeri dan para Kepala Kampung.
Negeri Metro dengan pusat
pemerintahan di Metro (dalam
Kecamatan Metro). Dalam praktek,
dirasakan kurangnya keserasianantar pemerintahan, keadaan ini
menyulitkan pelaksanaan tugas
pemerintahan, oleh sebab itu
Gubernur Kepala Daerah Tingkat I
Lampung pada tahun 1972
mengambil kebijaksanaan untuk
secara bertahap Pemerintahan
Negeri dihapus, sedangkan hak dan
kewajiban Pemerintahan Negeriberalih pada Kecamatan setempat.
d. Berdirinya Kota Metro
Pada jaman pemerintahan Belanda,
Kota Metro masih merupakan hutan

juga terbentuk onder distrik yaitu
Pekalongan, Batanghari, Sekampung,dan Trimurjo. Kelima onder distrik ini
mendapat rencana pengairan teknis
bersumber dari Way Sekampung yang
pelaksanaannya dilaksanakan oleh
para kolonisasi-kolonisasi yang sudah
bermukim di bedeng-bedeng dimulai
dari bedeng I bertempat di Trimurjo
dan Bedeng 62 di Sekampung, yang
kemudian bedeng tersebut diberinama (contoh bedeng 21
Yosodadi).Pada jaman Jepang,
pengairan teknis masih terus
dilanjutkan karena pada waktu
pemerintahan Belanda belum juga
terselesaikan.Setelah Indonesia
merdeka, pengairan tersebut masih
terus dilanjutkan sesuai dengan
pengembangan teknis yangdirencanakan hingga sekarang.“Mitro”
yang berarti sahabat, hal tersebut
dilatarbelakangi dari kolonisasi yang
datang dari berbagai daerah di luar
wilayah Sumatra. Pada jaman
kemerdekaan nama

Metro menjadi Kabupaten yang

Dalam perkembangannya, 5 (lima)
desa di seberang (sebelah selatan)
Way Sekampung dibentuk menjadi 1
(satu) kecamatan yaitu Kecamatan
Metro Kibang dan dimasukkan ke
dalam wilayah pembantu Bupati
Lampung Tengah wilayah Sukadana
(sekarang masuk menjadi Kabupaten
Lampung Timur). Pada tahun yang
sama terbentuk 2 (dua) wilayah yaitu
Sukadana dan Gunung Sugih. Dengan
kondisi dan potensi yang cukup besarserta ditunjang dengan sarana dan
prasarana yang memadai, Kota
Administratif Metro tumbuh pesat
sebagai pusat perdagangan,
pendidikan, kebudayaan dan juga
pusat pemerintahan. Maka wajar bila
dengan kondisi tersebut Kota
Administratif Metro ditingkatkan
statusnya menjadi Kota Madya Metro.Harapan untuk memperoleh Otonomi
Daerah terjadi pada tahun 1999,
dengan dibentuknya Kota Metro
sebagai daerah otonom berdasarkan
Undang-Undang Nomor 12 Tahun
1999 tanggal 20 April 1999 dan
diresmikan pada tanggal 27 April 1999
di Jakarta bersama dengan Kota
Dumai (Riau), Kota Cilegon dan KotaDepok (Jawa Barat), Kota Banjarbaru
(Kalsel), dan Kota Ternate (Maluku
Utara). Kota Metro pada saat
diresmikan terdiri dari 2 (dua)
kecamatan,

I . GEOGRAFI
Secara geografis, Kota Metro
terletak pada 105o17’ – 105o19’ BT
dan 5o6’ – 5o8’ LS, dengan batas-
batas wilayah sebagai berikut:
Sebelah Utara berbatasan dengan
Kabupaten Lampung Tengah dan
Lampung Timur
Sebelah Selatan berbatasan
dengan Kabupaten Lampung Timur
Sebelah Timur berbatasan dengan
Kabupaten Lampung Timur
Sebelah Barat berbatasan denganKabupaten Lampung Tengah
Pada tanggal 27 April 1999, Kota
Metro diresmikan sebagai daerah
otonom berdasarkan UU No. 12 Tahun
1999. Pada saat diresmikan, Kota
Metro terdiri dari 2 (dua) Kecamatan
yang meliputi 6 (enam) Kelurahan dan
6 (enam ) desa.
Kemudian berdasarkan Perda Kota
Metro No. 25 Tahun 2000 tentang
pemekaran Kelurahan dan Kecamatan
di Kota Metro, wilayah administrasi
pemerintah Kota Metro mekar menjadi
5 Kecamatan yang meliputi 22
Kelurahan.
Luas wilayah Kota Metro adalah
6,874 Ha, dengan pembagian sebagai
berikut:

On April 27 th 1999, Metro city was
inaugurated as an autonomous region
under Law no. 12, 1999. At
inaugurated, Metro City consists of two
(2) District which includes 6 (six)
Village (Kelurahan) and 6 (six) villages
(desa).
Then based on Regulation No.
Metro City. 25 of 2000 on the division
of Village and district in Metro City,
Metro City government administrative
region blossom into 5 sub-district that
includes 22 Kelurahan.
The total area of Metro City is
6,874 ha, with the division as follows:

II. PEMERINTAHAN
Kota Metro terdiri dari 5
Kecamatan dan 22 Kelurahan. Padatahun 2014, jumlah RW dan RT di
Kota Metro, masing-masing adalah 38
dan 179.
Sedangkan anggota DPRD KotaMetro berjumlah 25 orang yang terdiridari 18 orang laki-laki dan 7 orangperempuan. Ketua DPRD Kota Metro
periode tahun 2015-2020 adalah AnnaMorinda, S.E., M.M.
Jumlah Pegawai Negeri Sipil(PNS) di Lingkungan Pemerintah KotaMetro adalah 4.853 orang yang terdiridari 2.098 orang laki-laki dan 2.755orang perempuan.
