Hukum laju
Laju keseluruhan dari suatu reaksi kimia pada umumnya bertambah jika konsentrasi satu pereaksi atau lebih dinaikkan . Hubungan antara laju dan konsentrasi dapat diperoleh dari data eksperimen.
Disebut hukum laju atau persamaan laju dengan K adalah tetapan laju X dan Y dapat merupakan bilangan bulat, pecahan, atao nol. Hukum laju diperoleh secara eksperimen dan tidak bergantung pada persamaan stoikiometri. Hukum laju dapat diungkapkan dalam bentuk differensial dan bentuk integral.

Laju rata-rataadalah menyatakan perubahan konsentrasi dalam selang waktu tertentu. Sedangkan laju sesaat adalah laju reaksi pada waktu tertentu. Laju sesaat dari suatu reaksi tidak dihitung tetapi diperoleh dari aluran perubahan konsentrasi terhadap waktu. Untuk mengukur laju reaksi, perlu menganalisis secara langsung maupun tak langsung banyaknya produk yang terbentuk atau banyaknya pereaksi yang tersisa setelah penggal-penggal waktu tertentu.
