Impact of HVAC Cleaning on COVID-19mmihomeimprovement.com/2020/04/18/impact-of-hvac-cleaning-on-covid-19

Home is one place that needs to be pitch-perfect as this is the place where you can relax

and enjoy. In this hard time where people have been requested to stay back home due to

the spread of COVID-19, it is important that they should get their HVAC cleaned. People

might not be aware of the impact of HVAC cleaning on COVID-19 thus we have listed

down the details that people should know.

It has been noted that people spend almost 90% of their life indoors due to which

pollutant levels can reach up to 100 times the level. Facts state that polluted indoor air

quality is one of the top environmental hazards in the modern era.

Currently, our attention is diverted to the spread of Corona Virus and it is the reason we

are now thinking to take necessary precautions that are required to lower the chances of

coming in contact with the virus. HVAC professionals are well aware of the fact that

Coronavirus is currently the only virus that we need to fight within our homes. It’s not

only COVID-19 that we have to combat as we need to fight with other viruses and germs

that also spread via the HVAC system. The best way people can fight out these viruses and

germs by ensuring the fact that they are well aware of the Indoor Air Quality.

We can categorize people into four groups that need the best possible air quality at home.

Infants to 16-years-old

Adults, age 60 plus

No age restriction: Such people include immune conceded persons, antenatal

women. Moreover, people who suffer from chronic respiratory disorders and

patients who are recuperating from surgical procedures or illness

People living with pets such as dogs, cats and birds.

The scientist has come up with the conclusion that the major mode of transmission of

Coronavirus is made through respiratory droplets. These droplets travel from someone

who is suffering from cough or sneeze. As per the instructions revealed by WHO people

who suffer from cough or sneeze should cover their mouths and try to isolate them in

their houses so that they don’t spread this virus among others. But when we talk about

our home these residual contaminants can travel through the HVAC system, which

enables us to circulate the air and can contribute to the spread of this virus. Coronavirus

is quite similar to other viruses such as cold, flu, sore throat and the major threat from

this virus is that it spreads from person to person.

When it comes to controlling the virus the very first step when you have to deal with IAQ

instructions such as mold, dust or odor and even viruses. There are numerous remedies

when you have to keep your house clean. There are a few products that range from a

higher Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rated filter, electronic air cleaners,

and ultra-violet sterilization systems. There is significant proof that the HVAC system can

play an important role in spreading unwanted pathogens in the air. It is not due to the fact

that the system came contaminated from the factory but it is so because the air became

contaminated and the same air is being circulated in your house.

Bacteria, Fungi, and viruses are a few types of tiny pathogens that spread in the air and

make your air contaminated. The major difference between bacteria and viruses is that

the bacteria and virus are that the virus is much smaller and is unable to survive without a

host. Facts state that people are mostly affected by viruses and proof of this is the current

situation where a huge number of people are being affected by a virus.

Moreover, to the spreading of the virus via the HVAC system another problem that we

face is mold and biological growth. Mold is a term that is part of the “dust to dust”

program. We all know about the fact that every living thing will die one day whether it is a

might oak tree or your favorite leather bag.

Your HVAC system can prove to be ground to the biological growth of these viruses. There

are three items required for biological growth. Food is the biggest source of supporting

biological growth. The biggest example of this is food sources in skin cells that have flaked

off and floated into the HVAC system. The next item that supports organic growth is

moisture which is vastly available in the HVAC system.

So when the ultra-violet system is utilized correctly and installations have been made

according to the guidelines it definitely proves to be useful. It has proved to be useful

because it disassembles the DNA of the organics. It assists in reducing the nitrogen and

oxygen. We have also seen that these rays are most effective as they are also used to

sterilize medical instruments.

It is important that the contractors should properly inform the customers about the value

of cleanliness of HVAC system. The guidelines include an inspection of your HVAC system

at least twice a year. In such a challenging time when emotions run high, and everyone is

concerned about the future it is significant that the HVAC professional should shine as a

beacon of truth and good faith. Thus quality maintenance and good hygiene will certainly

play a very important role in ensuring that you are your family is safe from these deadly

viruses.
