Jangan bilang pernah ke Belitong, kalau belum memandang perairan Belitong dari atas mercusuar di Pulau Lengkuas. Pulau ini adalah satu dari ratusan pulau yang menge-lilingi Belitong. Mecusuar tua yang diba ngun oleh pemerintah Kolonial Belanda pada ta-hun 1882 itu masih berfungsi de ngan baik sebagai penuntun lalu lintas kapal yang melewati atau keluar masuk Pulau Belitong. Perlu niat besar untuk menaiki 18 lantai un-tuk mencapai puncak. Tapi semuanya terba-yar setelah kita menyaksikan istemewanya laut Belitong dari atas sana.

Lengkuas Island is one of the most ‘must vi-sited’ islands in Belitung. It is one of hundreds of islands surrounded Belitung. It has an old lighthouse with its fascinating view on top. It was built by the Colonial Government of Nether lands in 1882. It is still functioned well as a traffic guide for ships passing through, enter-ing and exiting Belitung Island. It is an 18-storey lighthouse and need a great effort to get to the top. But all the efforts are paid when you see the amazing view on top of it.

Sedikit saja kita mendekati pulau ini dengan perahu, maka ratusan bu-rung akan terbang ke udara. suatu hal yang menakjubkan bisa melihat langsung dari jarak dekat burung-burung camar laut terbang di atas kita dan kembali hinggap. Di sela-sela batu inilah burung-burung tinggal dan berkembang biak.

Sejauh mata memandang, batu-batu besar di Pantai dan Pulau-pulau kecil terus menghiasi mata. Batu besar tersebut menjadi ikon pantai di Pulau Belitong yang tidak bisa ditemui di tem-pat lain. Misalnya saja Pulau Batu Berlayar (Sailing Rock) dimana dua batu granit raksasa mem-bentuk sebuah formasi ibarat layar dengan pulau pasir putih sebagai kapalnya. Batu granite utama yang berdiri vertikal bisa mencapai tinggi 10 meter.

The huge granites are the icon of Belitung beaches which are not found in any other place in the world. Batu Berlayar Island (Sailing Rock Island) is one of the samples of an island with huge granites. It has two gigantic granites form as a sail on a boat made of white sand. The vertical one height reaches 10 meters.

Pulau lainnya yang menyimpan kemegahan batu granit ialah Pulau Batu Kepala Burung. Masyarakat menganggap batu yang seperti diletakkan begitu saja di atas batu lainnya menyeru-pai kepala Burung Garuda. Mereka menyebutnya Batu Kelayang. Menurut legenda turun temu-run, Batu kelayang diyakini memiliki kekuatan mistis. batu-batu besar yang saling bertengger satu sama lain berada di posisi konstan, menandakan Belitong aman dari pergeseran lempeng. Hanya satu kekuatan besar yang mampu meruntuhkan batu-batu tersebut ke bumi dan itu men-jadi pertanda kiamat.

Other island that keeps its splendid huge granite is Batu Kepala Burung Island. The inhabitants in this island consider it as a Garuda head. Garuda is a very special legend bird in Indonesia. They call that gra-nite as Kelayang Rock. According to a legend, Kelayang Rock has been believed having mystical powers. The other huge granites perch one to another at a constant position, signaling that Belitung is safe from tectonic plates shift. Only one great power that is able to break them down the earth and it means a sign of the end of the world.
