PERUBAHAN BENTUK ARSITEKTUR

SEBUAH PENERAPAN KONSEP D'ARCY THOMPSON DIBIDANG ARSITEKTUR

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to describe a technique which can be usedas a tool in architechtural design. Based on the concept of figuraltransformation of D'Arcy Thompson, the technique employs amathematical terms tailored to transform a shape of a givenarchitectural object into a new form. The new form can be rnnsideredas a product of a design proces. The paper comprises of two mainparts. The mathematical background that are necessary to understandthe basic concept of the proposed design tool are explained in the firstpart of this paper. In the second part, as an example, the proposeddesign tool were used to produce a plan of T-45 house from a givenplan of T-70 house. From the example it can be concluded that theproposed design tool is effective enough to accomodate the objectiveand subjective consideration of most architectural practice.

RINGKASANDalam makalah ini penulis akan membahas suatu metoda yang diberi namaIDEA (Information Decision Enterprise Analysis). Metoda ini dibangun.berdasarkan Konsep Integrasi Transfungsional yang memandang organisasisebagai suatu sistem. Konsep ini bertitik berat pada cara berfikir bahwaorganisasi pada hakekatnya merupakan kumpulan aktifitas yang saling kaitmengkait. Hubungan antar aktifitas dijalin melalui jaringan: informasi,keputusan dan sumber daya. Konsep dasar penting lainnya yang melandasimetoda IDEA adalah konsep struktur organik yang memandang hubunganantar aktifitas tidak hanya dijalin melalui hubungan vertikal (hirarkis) saja,tetapi juga hubungan horisontal. Jadi dalam strukur organik, hubungan antardua aktifitas tidak hanya berpola pada hubungan antara majikan-bawahanyang biasanya direpresentasikan melalui struktur vertikal, akan tetapi dapatpula berbentuk hubungan mitra, biasanya direpresentasikan melalui strukturkomunal.

ABSTRACT

The conservation of historical publik place actually is a developmentmanagement process of public places such as traditional environment(=kampong), public p1aza, town square, public park node ofcrossingroads, public yard, cemetery, etc., for the purpose of thepreservation ofmeanings, cultural values, and architecture. In this case, thoseaeraings and value refer to spirit of the public place, or the localspirit that exist within the society. Jakarta has many of historicalpublic places, which could be conserved. However, firstly it must bedefine what is meant by conservation. Then, it must be identifiedwhat the pmblem is and how to solve it theoritically. By doing so, weinvestigated 45 public places that may get potential conservationvalues. Aa the final result, we concluded there are threeclassifications of the conservation, i.e.1). Class ,A, which means thata public place may not be allowed to be changed at all. Within thisclass both the basic form and the function may not be changed; 2).C1ass B, which means that the form of a public place to a certaindegree may be allowed to be changed. However, its function must bekept, 3). Class C, which means that the form or function of a publicplace is allowed to be changed. However the spirit of the place mustbe maintained This research also recommended a typicalorganisational structure of conservation development in Jakarta.

Abstrak∗

Analysis of daily surface temperatures measured by groundstations as well as bysatelite (lansat TM) show the formation of heat island that indicate temperaturedifference between areas of intensive human activities and the surounding areas oflesser human activities.This principle was applied to study the development of Jakarta.The results of the study show an extension of the heat island in southern, eastern andwestern directions, coinciding with developments in the same directions during theyears 1994 - 1998. Type of landcover and human activities influenced this rise intemperature. The extension of the heat island was not influenced by concentration ofparticle in the atmosfere.

AbstractLandscapes of Halimun Mountain in West Java Indonesia are quite specific.There are terraced rice paddies, tea plantation, and vegetable field around fewfarmhouses.The backgrounds of this landscape are fuel coppice woodland andnatural forest. It comprises of many artificial and natural elements.

Halimun Mountain has been declared a National Park. The Halimun NationalPark established in 1992 is the most important protected area.

In this study, we extracted some important landscape elements. We clarifiedstructural classes in the landscape and calculated the weights of its elements.By using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process).

Abstract

The information of unplanned settlement structures, including the structures of system ofits public facilities, could be determined by interaction within the collective planning,self-planning and self-organization. Settlement evolve based on a sort of organization-scheme, which leads or direct their interaction. Based on such organization-scheme, thesettlement is developed through "self-planning" individually, while the whole structure isdeveloped through interaction of individual processes in a series of adaptation anddevelopment processes. Through the description and interpretative (rationalistic)approach a model of organization scheme of public-facilities structure or system in urbanKampung of Jakarta could be developed (cristalized).

AbstractJakarta as the capital city of The Republic of Indonesia is the tributary of 13 rivers. Since its establishment in the17th century Jakarta had functioned as a harbor. Until the 19th century the rivers in Jakarta were functioned as atransportation mode to bring the product from the interior to the harbor. However at present, the rivers onlyfunction as drainage systems. The rivers were considered as a backyard where most buildings let out its effluent. Inorder to give the river back its former function as front-yard of the city, this study we tried to look at the physicaland social history of the riverfront of the river systems in Jakarta. As an urban heritage then we look at the potentialof the riverfront as tourist attractions. Therefore we could give an economical reason for the maintenance of theriverfront in Jakarta as the front-yard of the city.

In this paper we decribed the result of surveys done after the erathquake truck Pandeglang, Banten in2000. From the surveys it could be understood the structural, characteristic of most building in theregion and it's inability to stand against eariquake. The surveys also tooked at the structuralcharacteristics of rebuild buildings of the eartquake and pant of the structural mistakes that exist in thebuilding. Finally in the paper we propose several structural characteristics that are need to make a moreearthquake resistant building.

AbstractHuman settlement and housing sector in Indonesia can not be separated from human settlement andhousing development policy as a part of broader development policy, with economic growth as thedevelopment paradigm. The objectives of economic growth have made human settlement and housing sectordevelopment as one of sectors in economic development. Problems in human settlement and housing sectorcaused by that policy stimulate development paradigm change from economic growth to sustainable humandevelopment and good governance. In this context, new ideas and concepts of human settlement andhousing policy and strategy are very important. Critical analysis of strategic issues in human settlementand housing sectors, which could be the basis of those new ideas and concepts development andformulation, have to be made. Issues of unbalance development between urban and rural area andunbalance land use planning are parts of unfair and conflict issues in human settlement and housingsector, which need close intention. Those issues are crystallised from phenomenon in human settlementand housing sector with sustainable human settlement and good governance paradigm as the point of view.

AbstractPilotis can be considered as a significant architectural component in most Le Corbusier’s designs. In thispaper the author discussed the characteristics of pilotis in Le Cobusier designs. From the discussion it isknown there are four types of pilotis in Le Corbusier’s design. Some are used to form public spaces andfunctions as sunbreaker. Therefore, the pilotis on Le Corbusier design also function as a climaticcomponent. The author stated that Indonesian Architects should study Le Corbusier’s architecture.

Tidak ada seorangpun yang dapat menjamin ketika usianyabertambah tua tidak akan menderita penyakit Alzheimer,gangguan nervous dan selanjutnya gangguan dalam hidup di harituanya. Kajian-kajian di bidang ini menunjukkan banyak oranglanjut usia menderita gangguan mental daripada orang-orangmuda. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah mengkaji tentang (1)epidemiology gangguan mental pada orang-orang lanjut usia, (2)usia sistem cerebrovascular pada orang lanjut usia dan bagaimanakaitannya dengan depresi, (3) perbedaan gender dalam depresi,dan (4) pengobatan dan terapi termasuk penggunaan obat-obatanpada orang lanjut usia.

AbstractIn Indonesia, geriatric research has not been done properly,especially in the field of oral and dental health. This analyticobservational epidemiological study with cross sectional designwas done to know about the oral and dental health status ofelderly in West and South of Jakarta. The multistage randomsampling was applied in this study. Oral and dental health statuswas examined based on the condition of oral hygiene (OHI-Sindex), dental caries (DMF-T index), periodontal diseases (GIindex), oral mucosa lesions, masticatory function (based onanamnesa, teeth mobility, maxillary edentulous area, andocclusal contact). The total data collected for oral mucosa status,dental caries (DMF-T index), periodontal disesases (GI),masticatory function, and dental hygiene (OHI-S) were 201, 185,185, 185, and 169 respectively. Most of respondents have caries,periodontal and masticatory problems.Key words : elderly, oral and dental health.

The knowledge of microorganism characteristics andinfluence factors of microorganism growth would help to designan effective and efficient bioreactor. That’s why is needed to dothe research of microorganisms isolation and identification fromAnaerobic Circulating Bed Reactor (CBR) in Acidogenesis phasethat treated palm oil industry’s wastewater.Dominant microorganisms rolled in degradation of palm oil industry’swastewater from Anaerobic Circulating Bed Reactor (CBR) inAcidogenesis phase are Clostridium butyricum, ClostridiumClostridiiforme, Bacteriodes ovatus.

Temperature influence on growth of dominant microorganism in glucoseliquid and palm oil industry’s wastewater. From the research could beknown that temperature 37 °C is optimum temperature for anaerobemicroorganism growth. This result in line with Sixt and Sham, 1987 andSpeece, 1996 who mentioned that optimum temperature for anaerobicprocess is 37 °C.

Abstract

The change in status of hospital X into Government Company (PERJAN) enables it to bemore competitive in the health care industry. It is important for hospital X management todetermine performance indicators of patient care, education and research, formanagement control and strategic planning to become a more competitive hospital.Medical personnel was 1,968 consisting of 625 medical staff, 1,109 residents and 234specialists. Problems faced by hospital X are medical staff workload. The study was asurvey using sampling technique (n=75). The parameters measured were description ofactivities according to work category and time allocation, proportion of time consumedfor each activity, pattern of work related to work hour, category of energy, socialdemographic characteristics, and work load. The results of the study were productivity(52.31%), patient care activity (22.53%), education (26.27%) and research (3.50%). Whilenon-productive activity was 47.69%.Keywords: Hospital, productivity, work sampling, PERJAN.

AbstractHistorical and archaeological building must be protected from extinction because thosebuildings constitute a country’s national heritage. For this purpose, RI government hasenacted Law number 5-year 1992 on preservation of national culture. The question, whicharises, is whether this law has been fully implemented? The study is a descriptive analysisusing primary and secondary data source. The results of the study showed that Lawnumber 5 years 1992 has been regulated from aspects of authority and ownership,protection and maintenance, exploitation and control. However, its implementation is stillnot effective, due to violations of the law by the regional government or owners of thebuildings.

AbstractSmall industry in Indonesia are numerous, among those are the laundry industry. A large industrial estate islocated in south Sukabumi, Jakarta. This sub district has 34 laundries with capacity of 1,000-5,000 pieces ofcloths for each laundry. Water demand average per day for this industry are 90 m3. An alternative forwastewater treatment is biofilter process using ceramics media. Biofilter process used in this research iscombination processes of anerobe and aerobe. Optimum removal efficiency without coagulants occurs in 72hours detention time with effluent concentration of COD, TSS and color are below Effluent Standardsaccording to the standard of KEP-51/MENLH/10/1995 and Kep Gub KDKI Jakarta No. 582 year 1995,classification B. While optimum removal efficiency with Alum – Soda coagulants (9:1) occurs at 400 mg/L,with COD effluent concentration, TSS, and color below standard quality. Identification result shows thatdominant microorganisms rolled in degradation of organic matter and color from biofilter using ceramicsmedia are Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aueruginosa, and Staphylococcus albus.

AbstractThe pollution level in Ciliwung River is predicted to increase annually, due to increased human activities.While regional government (PEMDA) regulations restricting settlement areas near river vicinity has notbeen properly enforced. Water quality is measured by Water Quality Index (WQI) using several parametersrelated to water quality. The range of WQI is 55.17 – 57.75 (medium/average) in 1996, 50.12 – 56.38(medium/average) in 1997, 40.81 – 52.18 (fair - medium/average) in 1999, 48.12 – 51.08 (fair -medium/average) in 2000, 50.46 – 59.44 (medium/average) in 2001. At present WQI of Ciliwung river iscategorized as fair – medium.

AbstractObservation was done on community mosques in northern coastal areas ofJava. This form of mosque is known as Tajug. Most of these mosques do not usedome roof. Tajug form is the first form of mosques in Java and specialprototype of this mosque is the glorious mosque of Demak. The question raisedis whether this type of mosque form is entirely influenced by local culture. Thisarticle will address the relation between Islamic values and its mosque buildingelements as well as the culture and history of the Javanese community. Theobservation has been conducted in community mosques of northern coastalarea of central Java namely Pekalongan, Batang, Tegal and Brebes districts.

Abstract⋅This research aims to analyze: the impacts of land and forest fires,compares the econo-mical valuation method of the forest fire impacts,total economic value of plantation and forest losses (tangible andintangible), the economical losses of haze and its political impacts, thecorrelation between natural factors and human activity (socio-economic)which affects forest fires, economic losses in terms of forest area and landfunction, and a model of land and forest fires. Sample of land and forestfire are 42 ha and 250 people were interviewed. The economic valuationof the fire impact used : market price, productivity, replacement costs,income losses, health costs, transfer benefit and contingent valuationmethod, canonical correlation and regression analysis, and systemanalysis.The total economic loss (12.923,82 ha) was Rp. 54,30 billion, consist of: forest resources(82,69%) and plantation (1,59%), the cost of fire control amounted (0,19%), and hazeimpact (15,53%). Simulation model will decrease the averages of land and forest firesin every year, and the optimistic scenario model is the fire using decreased 20% andincreasing 20% of rainfall, and effort of fire mitigation is the best model for controllingland and forest fires.

AbstractThe Public has known and been familiar with house hardware made of copper, suchas dandang (a large metal vessel for steaming rice), tempayan (large water jar),kencheng (friying pan), etc. Copper has special characteristics, such as easy to beformed and bended, has a good strained strength, can be carved, and easy to bemixed with other metals. It could also be produced with various colours. Thus, coppercould be used and formed as arts or crafts, which would have functional anddecorative value. For example : cooper could be made into a flower pot / vase,umbrella stands, wall lamps, hanging lamps, wall decorations, and souvenirs. Coppercrafts, which have special and unique characteristics of a certain region, are as one ofvarious assets from natural culture wealth and Indonesian people have to substainand develop these crafts, so they could be more familiar and the community would bemore interested in these crafts. Tumang village in Cipogo, Boyolali - Central Java, isone of villages where most of its people (80%) work as copper craftman, whereas theirskills came from tlreir fore fathers. It is simply defined as a way of civil dispute resolution outsidethe court that is based on the arbitration agreement made by several parties who areinvolved in the dispute. From this definition, there are three important elements (1)Arbitration as a process of adjudication, (2) Privacy, and (3) Problem solving byarbitration based on agreement.The dispute that might occur in the capital market has a unique character whichdemands knowledge and skills in the field of capital market. Dampak Perubahan Penggunaan LahanTerhadap Erosi dan Hidrologydi DAS Besai-Lampung Barat

AbstractMany conflicts over the use of land resources involve competing interestgroup with various different reasons. These different interests causeconflict in upstream and down stream management in watershed. Inupstream, population pressure on land causes landuse changes. Changesfrom forest to coffee plantation cause increase in soil erosion, run-off andfluctuation in stream dis-charge. In 1975 when 42, 6% of watershed areaare forested, soil erosion was low (12,08 ton/ha/year), stream dischargehad not fluctuated. In 1997 when forest area decreased to only 8,4% andcoffee plantation become 71,2 % of watershed area, erosion was 49,93ton/ha/year and stream discharge, greatly fluctuated. Researeh showedthe irnpact of land-use changes could be rnanaged by using soil urrdwater conservation. This practice decreased soil erosion rnore than 80%.Key words : Landuse change, erosion, run-off and discharge

AbstractFear of Crime can be considered as an urban phenomenon. In this paper theauthor describe a research on the concept of Fear of Crime (FOC) in Jakarta,Indonesia. In 2004 a Telephone Survey were conducted to thousandrespondents in Jakarta. Questions were asked to the stratified randomlysampled respondents. By using several variables which includes priorvictimization, indirect experience, gender, age, occupation and context, FOCindices where constructed. As a result two type of FOC indices whereextracted. The first factor is the Direct FOC Index that account for the directinfluence of crime to FOC. The second factor is the Indirect FOC Index. In Besai watershed increasing population causes the degradation ofwatershed de-gradation. Many conflicts over the use of land resourcesinvolve competing interest group for very different reasons. Thesedifferent interest from each stakes holder causes conflict in upstream anddown stream management in watershed. In upstream, populationpressure in land causes land-use changes. Using unsustainable farmingsystem. Farming can inflict off-site cost on low-land economies throughthe processes of erosion and sediment-tation and changes thehydrological patterns and water quality. The costs are not internalizedand affect downstream landowners and other water users. The off sitecosts and benefits are not reflected in farmer decision, but they are anintegral part of the economic impacts of land-use changesits effect arepotentially far reaching, not only for the agriculture sector and in termsof market failure.

AbstractCiliwung river as water body has many functions. The changes of allotment inwater catchment area will directly or indirectly change the water quality, andalso decreased its benefits as well. For 30 years (1970-200), the width of thewetland area and water body decreased to 55% (5,774 Ha). Water Quality Index(WQI) of Ciliwung river was decreased to 33,38% during 12 years. Generally,the decreasing of WQI shows that the Ciliwung river water quality decreasedcause by landuse alteration.Keywords: landuse, water quality

AbstractJakarta province has experienced rapid development in various sectors. Thisgrowth has caused various new problems, among others, limited absorptiveareas due to increase of closed areas.

This article based on research rainfall intensity distribution and filtrationcapacity distribution adjusted to climate condition and geology, within closedareas in Jakarta. Optimal area use should be reconsidered, so that government

policy in sustainable development does not conflict with environment capacity.

The compares locations with high infil-tration distribution value and climatedistribution with location high rainfall, by using adjusted Landsat imagingusing band 4, 5 and 7 and indicates Area Distribution and Absorptive Potentialof Jakarta Province.

As result, it can be concluded that soil condition in Jakarta province is capableof water absorption with long duration of rainfall but with low intensity. SouthJakarta is an area that is capable of containing rainfall with intensity and arealand use is based on capacity and support system of its immediate envi-ronment.

The concept of this integrated waste managementcenter is the proces-ses of resources recovery and treatment prior to disposal.The investigation of the monitoring system, technology of stabilizationprocess, construction of landfill and management shows that PT. PPLI is inneed of improve-ment. The subtitution of hazardous waste for fuel does notalways go well. In order to eliminate thatdisabilities that exist within the Law no 24, 1992, in this paper the author propose adialectics process in spatial planning. This paper talks about the landscape heritage in Indonesia – withfocus on its cultural identity in the landscape, and emphasis onthe island of Java. There are more than 300 ethnic groups inIndonesia; each one has its own unique tradition and culture. AbstractMultivariate analysis is used to analyze a group of data where more than onemeasurement exists in each individual. With this analysis, it is possible to explore andextract information from a group of multivariate data --where interdependence amongmeasurements normally exists – without enforcing a boundary condition.

Multivariate analysis enables pattern detection of a random sample of data and thepossibility of drawing correlation between individuals. More information can beextracted using this method compared to individual comparison and observation of eachobject, enabling appropriate conclusion to be drawn. Since multiple measurements inone object exist in every aspects of life, multivariate analysis is an appropriatetechnique to apply.

Multivariate analysis was first introduced in the 1930s, but its application was stilllimited due to the complex computation. With the development of computer technologyin the last thirty years, multivariate analysis has now become an easier tool to use instatistics.

The techniques in multivariate analysis emphasize the importance of geometricpresentation and is not associated with a specific stochastic model and thus neglectingthe question whether a result will be observable at the end. One technique that has beenwidely used is to reduce the dimension of data and represent the data graphically in atwo-dimensional space.

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to investigate the concentration of certainpolution of heavy metal such as Cadmium(Cd), Chromium(Cr), Lead(Pb), andseveral other metal such as Arsenicum(As), Iron(Fe), Phosphate(P04-),Mangan(Mn), Nitrate(N02-), Cyanide(Cn-) and other polutants in the ground-water at Jakarta. As a result, it can be seen that the concentration of thosepolutants are mostly ten times above the standard established by The IndonesianDepartment of Health. From the maps of polution drawn by the team it isknown that Northern and Western part of Jakarta are the most poluted area inJakarta.

Due to the intensity of motor vehicle usage, air polution in urban area hasbecame a major problem. Vegetation such as trees are known to have the abilityto excerbate air polution. Therefore in this study we intent to investigate thesensivity of certain tree species to air polution. As a result, it is known thatcertain tree such as F. decipiens and P. dulce are less sensitive to air polution, whileothers such as M. champaca is more sensitive. With that knowledge theappropriate species can be proposed to be applied as air polution control inurban area.

Hal tersebut disebabkan anggapan parapengambil keputusan bahwa penguasaan bahasa Inggris lu lusan sekolah menengah telah memadai setelah diterimadi perguruan tinggi. Di perguruan tinggi mata kuliah bahasa Inggris diberikan sebanyak 2 kredit. Tujuan matakuliah tersebut kurang velas, bermuatan banyak seh ingga membingungkan dan menurunkan motivasi parapengajar. Hambatan lain adalah kurang adanya koordinasi perencanaan materi di sekolah menengah dan diperguruan tinggi. AbstractPenelitian institusional adalah penelitian yang ditujukan pada peningkatan kinerja institusi yakni

manusia, materi dan proses untuk mencapai sasaran akhir standar pendidikan tinggi yang unggul. Inisiatif yangbersifat inovatif sangat diperlukan supaya institusi pendidikan tersebut dapat bersaing di era globalisasimendatang. Dalam kaitan ini, Fakultas Kedokteran USAKTI telah menyelenggarakan program semesterpendek (PSP) dengan tujuan memberikan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa dengan nilai C ke bawah untukmeningkatkan Indeks Prestasi (IP). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengadakan evaluasi terhadap hasil outputprogram semester pendek tersebut yang dibandingkan dengan ujian semester genap tahun akademik 1996-1997(USG) dan hasil ujian perbaikan (UP) yang mengikutinya. Analisis dilakukan dengan menilai output dari 26mata kuliah yang mengikuti program semester pendek tersebut. Hasil itu dianalisa menggunakan teknik tabel2 x 2 dan tes chi. Secara keseluruhan, terjadi peningkatan sebesar 30% peserta yang mengikuti UPdibandingkan USG sebelumnya (p < .00001). Terjadi peningkatan sebesar 37% peserta PSP dibandingkan USGsebelumnya (p<.00001). Namun, hanya terjadi peningkatan sebesar 6% peserta PSP dibandingkan UPsebelumnya (p< ,01). Dengan demikian, strategi pemilihan program akan banyak ditentukan oleh kurikulummata kuliah yang disajikan, staf pengajar, fasilitas pengajaran dan relevansi mata kuliah tersebut terhadapkewajiban mengikuti ujian negara.Key words: research; institutional; evaluation; output, medical.

Computer Science is defina as a set of discipline in science and engineering that study the transformation of dataand information using automatic machines (computer). As one of the education unit in the Trisakti University, theComputer Science Department engaged in the education process especially to produce qualified Computer Sciencegeaduates.

Education process can be seen as a system that include students, curriculum, lecturers, material, equipment,supporting staff and management as its component. Mereka yang berminat untuk bersaing di tingkat Global perlumenguasai kedua ketrampilan tersebut. Perhatian para pendidik di Indonesia saat ini adalah bagaimanameningkatkan ketrampilan pengajaran di tingkat Global ini."



HUBUNGAN RUTINITAS BELAJAR MAHASISWA DENGANPEMAKAIAN STIMULAN

Damayani Farastuti "dan Nugroho Abikusno"AbstractThis survey was conducted to determine a relationship between routine study and stimulant use. Thisobservational study used a pre-tested questionnaire. Hundred-twenty respondents were randomlyselected from a total of 563 pre-clinical medical students of Trisakti University, Jakarta. The results ofthe study showed that 73% of respondents did not study routinely and there was no significantrelationship between routine study and aimulant use. It is recommended that medical lecturers shouldgive good examples of university study techniques and also give health promotion on the side-effectsof stimulants.Keywords: students; study; stimulants; medical; Indonesia.



CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION

BY NOERMALICHAABSTRAKTuntutan tentang pembaruan sistem pendidikan dewasa ini sangat marak. Sayangnya arah daripembaruan itu sendiri agaknya juga belum menemukan bentuknya, apalagi jati dirinya. Hasilpenelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh Mangunwijaya mengenai pendidikan di Indonesia memberikankesimpulan bahwa intelektualitas kita saat ini mundur kembali ke era 1900-an. Selanjutnya, padadasarnya sistem pendidikan kita lebih mendekati tempat pelatihan, dimana guru berperan sebagaiinstruktur, birokrat, penjinak, atau bahkan komandan. Sementara itu siswa kita bukan lagi sebagaipemikir melainkan kader-kader politik.Masih menurut Mangunwijaya, bahwa kelemahan terbesar dari sistem pendidikan kita adalah sistemperingkat. Hampir semua bentuk kompetisi dilandasi oleh peringkat, bukan berdasarkan daya nalar,sehingga kecurangan untuk memperoleh peringkat tersebut tidak dapat dielakkan. Akibatnya, disaatkrisis seperti saat ini nampaknya tidak ada hubungan antara jumlah sarjana yang telah dihasilkandengan sumbangan pemikiran untuk menghadapi krisis itu sendiri, jangankan menghadapipertarungan di era globalisasi.Di era persaingan bebas nanti, seseorang dituntut untuk menghasilkan pemikiranpemikiran inovatifjika ingin mempertahankan diri. Dari studi pustaka, ternyata ada hubungan yang erat antarainovasi dengan kreativitas seseorang. Lebih jauh lagi, kreatifitas yang selama ini diklaim sebagaipemikiran seniman saja, menurut pustaka lama, ternyata kreatifitas adalah milik semua orang.Sebab kreatifitas merupakan sistem kerja otak sebelah kiri dan sebelah kanan secara bersama-sama. Dimana otak sebelah kanan mengendalikan rasa berkesenian kita, dan otak sebelah kirimengatur kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan sains. Kedua hal ini tidak pernah dapat dipisahkan satudengan lainnya. Hubungan kedekatan antara seni dan sains telah digambarkan secara sempurnaoleh pasangan Watson dan Crick melalui hasil penelitian mereka mengenai teori "spiral model darirantai DNA".Selanjutnya, tulisan ini ingin memberikan masukan untuk pembaruan pendidikan di Indonesia.Melalui kajian pustaka mengenai hubungan kreatifitas, imajinasi dan inovasi, yang mungkin akandapat memberikan warna pada arah pendidikan. Tetapi semuanya terpulang pada para pakar yangberkompeten dalam masalah ini, apakah kita ingin mencetak sarjana dimana setiap orangmempunyai warna sendiri-sendiri atau sebaliknya sarjana yang sama warnanya untuk seluruhIndonesia. Sebab setiap arah akan memberikan konsekwensi yang sangat berbeda.'

Family Income, Ante Natal Care, Nutrition and IronSupplementation Factors inf luencing Pregnant Women

AbstractThe objective of the study was to determine factors influencing iron deficiency anemia inpregnan women. The method of study was an observational retrospective case-cortrol study.The cases were all pregnant women with anemia (hemoglobin < 11 g%) and controls were 29randomly sampled women with normal pregnancy (hemoglobin > 11 g%), at 2 subdistricts ofCilandak in 1996-1997. A closed-questionnaire with 34 variables was used in the survey.Nominal analysis was done by the ?+² test. The results showed that non-anemic mothers hadmore husbands with higher income compared to anemic mothers (p < .001). Non-anemicmothers had more ante natal visits (4 visits) than anemic mothers (< 4 visits; p < .0001). Non-anemic mothers ate a larger portion of food (> 3 x per day) compared to anemic mothers (p <.0001). Non-anemic mothers consumed iron pills regularly (1 per day) while anemic mothersconsumed iron pills irregularly (p . < .0001). Non-anemic mothers knew how to store iron pillscorrectly compared to anemic mothers who stored it incorrectly (p < .0001). In our study thefactors that influenced iron deficiency anemia were (1) husband income, (2) frequency of antenatal visits, (3) daily food portion during pregnancy, and (4) regularity of iron pillconsumption and appropriate storing of iron pills. We recommend that an effective strategy insafe motherhood health promotion should be directed to (1) increasing level of family income,(2) health cadres should focus on routine pregnancy examination, an adequate, well-balanceddiet and (3) regular consumption and proper storage of iron tablets by the pregnaan mother.Keywords: Women; Income; Pregnancy; Nutrition; Iron Supplementation; Indonesia.

Akibat dari minimnya penelitian yang ada maka dapat dipastikan pada akhirnya akanmempengaruhi kualitas pendidikan tinggi di indonesia. PKMK mempunyai pemusatan kajian pada (l) Pelayanan kesehatan masyarakattermasuk kesehatan gigi, (2) kesehatan kerja dan lingkungan, dan (3) studi kependudukan terutamapekerja wanita sosial ekonomi rendah, migran, dan lanjut usia. AbstractAt the end of a semester, students in a university await for their lecturers to announce each subjectattended. All the student final grades including the grade point average (GI'A) of the last semester aresummarized known as KHS. Almost at the same period, after knowing the last semester outcome, thestudent has to register himself for the next semester by filling out a form known as KRS (form ofstudy plan). This process is repeated twice a year.The number of students usually increase from year to year causing the delay of study results andregistration process that require numerous man hours to accomplish. Since several years ago, theuniversity management has attempted to transform the manual process into a computerized process.Based on current information technology, this report suggests that the university implement an "online registration system". This study demonstrated that the on line system provided some advantagesfor students and university management.

AbstractIn the wake of "reformasi" io Indonesia, in May 1998 there was a huge riot in Jakarta. Many lives andpossessions were lost. This article has attempted to explain the issues that might have triggered the riots.Based on evidence and annlysis, the study concluded that the riot was related to the economic crisis andsocial segregation and was triggered by a planned propocation. By underpinning those aspects, it is hopedthat such a huge and uncontroable riot could be prevented in the future.

Abstract

The Problems Associated with the solid wastes management in today’s societyare complex, because of the quantity and diverse nature of the wastes. Based onthe operational cost and amount of solid wasted being transported, the currentof solid waste management in the cities of Indonesia is not yet optimum. Most ofthe dispossal system of solid wastes are using Sanitary land fill withoutseparating this types of solid waste from the source. This system resulted in hightransportation cost and required large area. Bumi Serpong Damai ( BSD ) is one ofthe big Real Estate at Tangerang, has implemented the integrated solid wastemanagement with using composting technology , incineration and dumping system. Thesolid waste is separated at the transfer dipo. The organic waste is processed into organicfertilizier , while the unorganic waste is dumped to the final dispossal site at Tangerang.Previous research has shown that over that move than 50 % of the wastes in BSD consistof Organic matter. Therefore, the operation of solid waste management at BSD couldreduce the cost of transportation and disposal area.

Abstract

The human way of treat and viewed natural resources have been wrong. Therefore it hascaused the decrease of environment quality. If it is not corrected, soon it will influencemankind’s existence on earth. To preserve mankind, some principles should be appliedsuch as : respect and maintaining the community of life, improve the quality of people’slives, conserve the resources and earth diver-sity, avoid wasteful natural resources whichcould not be renewed, try not to exceed the capacity of live support system, changeattitude and life style of every person, support creativity of the society to maintain theenvironment, provide na-tional frame work to unit development efforts and conservationand create global cooperation.

Abstract

Urban heat is one of the main problem in every tropical city such as Jakarta. Thereforethe purpose of this study is to learn how physical properties of an environmental settingcould influence temprature in the environment. The result of the study shows thatenvironmental temprature in a small setting such as university campus is influenced moreby the relative location of vegetations and buildings than that of parking and type ofpaving surfaces.

AbstrakIn the last decade, there has been an increase in urban population. Based on 1992population of Indonesia data, more than 70 million of 180 million total population ofIndonesia live urban areas. With the increase of urban population and development ofindustrial areas surrounding large cities, presently the demand of clean water for humanconsumption also increaases. In fact, earth water reserves since millions of years ago hasremained relatively stable, causing water to be a limited economic commodity. Thisrequires a integrated management system which is supported by water source informationcomplied in a database on rainfall, water movement, water network andwater quality.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memperoleh data kesehatan dan lingkungan dari wargapenghuni rumah susun Kemayoran, Jakarta Pusat. Metode penelitian adalah secaraobservasi dengan rancangan studi secara potong lintang. Instrumen penelitianmenggunakan kuesioner tertutup dengan 49 variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa perbedaan ditemukan pada bahan bakar untuk memasak dari minyak tanah(sebelum) menjadi fasilitas gas (sesudah). Jarang ditemukan larva nyamuk pada tempatpenampungan air terbuka karena ketidakteraturan pemasokan air bersih di rumah susun.Terjadi peningkatan pengeluaran bulanan untuk makanan dan fasilitas lain karenapenghuni harus membayar lebih banyak untuk fasilitas rumah susun. Ditemukankepadatan penghuni per luas tipe rumah yang melebihi standar ideal. Disarankan agardalam pengelolaan rumah susun perlu dilakukan penyuluhan secara teratur kepada wargatentang kebiasaan tinggal di rumah susun, kebersihan dan sosialisasi antara tetanggarumah susun tersebut.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETYPROFILE OF A FLOUR MILL IN JAKARTA

Abstrak

Occupational health and safety of workers in large industries is important for theperformance of the industry and productivity of workers. A large flour mill in Jakarta wasselected to assess the occupational health and safety profile of such industries. Thequestionnaire used is adopted from the ILO/RI Ministry of Man-power standardquestionnaires. 1,425 male and 160 female workers were employed in the factory. Themain flour mill product was wheat flour and pasta. Lighting is adequate in the factory,except the pasta packing unit. Noise, dust and vibration are potential hazards in thedrilling unit. The workers rarely used personal protective equipment. There was a highprevalence of respiratory disease among workers. Most employees adopted non-ergonomic posture during work at the packing unit. This increased complaints of lowback pain and varicose veins. Work accidents frequently occurred at the workshop, butnot at the drilling unit. Indiscriminate positioning of materials was observed at theworkshop. Finally, we recommend health promotion on the use of protective equipmentfor disease prevention.

A Study On The Collapse Of Air Beliti Bridge

AbstractJembatan Air Beliti didirikan antara tahun 1976 dan 1978. Jembatan tersebut runtuh pada tahun 1995.Jembatan yang menggunakan kerangka jenis Warren dan sering disebut Jembatan Callender-Hamiltonterletak di jalan lintas Sumatra.Runtuhnya jembatan itu diikuti dengan runtuhnya Jembatan Bayung Lincir di Jalan Raya Palembang-Jambi dan mengakibatkan hubungan antara Sumatera bagian Utara dengan bagian Selatan.terputus.Tulisan ini berusaha menentukan sebab dari runtuhnya Jembatan Air Beliti dan menjelaskan kenapapenyebab keruntuhan itu tak diperhatikan selama ini.Dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas jembatan-jembatan sejenis dan kelemahan-kelemahannya seperti retakstruktur dan mengusulkan cara-cara mengatasi kelamahan-kelemahan itu.

Abstract

The Achenese at the Nothernmost of Sumatra lives at a place which is frequented by earthquake. Wesurmised that the structure of their traditional house should have a high degree of structural rigidity. Onemeasure of the structural rigidity is the direction of the rigidity itself. To be able to withstand thedynamic direction of earth a structure should have multiple directional rigidity. This paper tries to seethe direction of structural rigidity in Achenese traditional house. As a result we can see that the directionof structural rigidity in Achenese traditional houses are not mereley in orthogonal direction, but also inseveral oblique direction. Thus the structure of the Achenese traditional houses show its ability towithstand the dynamic forces of earthquake.



A Technical Trouble At Kramasan-Flyover Bridge

AbstractJembatan Kramasan adalah bagian dari Bypas Palembang yang melintas di atas Sungai Kramasan.Semenjak peresmiannya Maret 1992 oleh presiden Suharto, tanggul belakang dinding pendukung dekatstasiun secara konstan turun dan selanjutnya ditutupi dengan overlay. Dalam overlay adalah 0,8 m dankemudian pada 10, 1999 tanggul tersebut sepanjang 10 m dan selebar 18 m longsor sedalam 4,5 m.Selanjutnya longsoran digali sedalam 1 m dan diurug kembali dengan bahan tertentu. Dikala penggalian,bagian tanggul lain longsor seperti tanggil sebelumnya. Penggalian dan pengurugan serupa dilakukankepada tanggul itu. Selanjutnya tanggul ke 3 longsor. Setelah tanggul ke 4 longsor, tim dilibatkan dalamkasus ini. Hipotesa bahwa longsor disebabkan oleh daya dukung tanah yang rendah, diganti oleh timdengan hipotesa kesalahan struktur. Studi ini mencoba membuktikan hipotesa tersebut.

AbstractWater distribution operation system in developing country commonly have several problems and limitations. Themain problem is usually water losses or leakage due to technical or non technical reason.Rehabilitation of pipe damage and good management can be reduced the losses. However it will need a huge budgetwhich is a big problem in economic crisis. Pressure control technology have been applied in many industrialcountries to reduce the water leakage. This technology base on the optimisation of pump operation.Researches about the leakage have been done in Trisakti Hydraulic Laboratory o-ver last three years in order toknow the characteristic of water losses in urban wa-ter distribution. The researches are aimed to observe relationshipbetween flow pa-rameter in operationtime.

Abstrak

Paper ini menerangkan database bangunan dan landskap tua kota Jakarta yang dikembangkan olehpenulis. Database dibentuk menggunakan perangkat Sistim Informasi Geografis (SIG) Arc-View dariESRI. Informasi dalam database disusun berdasarkan lokasi tempat bangunan dan landskap itu berada.Selain lokasi, informasi yang ada dalam database ini bukan hanya yang bersifat tekstual tapi jugainformasi grafis seperti gambar denah, tampak, potongan bangunan dan lukisan landskap. Informasidalam database dapat dikembangkan sesuai kebutuhan peneliti. Semua informasi tambahan itu akanmemperlengkap database tersebut. Dengan demikian database ini bisa berkembang sesuai denganpenggunaan oleh para peneliti.

Teori rancangan perkotaanterdiri dari pendekatan fungsional, humanis, sistemik dan formalis. Metode perkotaan selanjutnyamenjabarkan tentang definisi skala, implementasi dan integrasi penelitian perkotaan.

AbstrakPenyuluhan kesehatan adalah suatu upaya untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar atau menciptakansuatu kondisi bagi perorangan, kelompok dan masyarakat untuk menerapkan cara-cara hidup sehat.Dimana untuk mencapai tujuan penyuluhan kesehatan sesuai yang diinginkan maka dapat direncanakansesuai tahapan-tahapan yang meliputi, pengenalan masalah dan menentukan prioritas masalahnya;menentukan tujuan penyuluhan; menentukan sasaran penyuluhan, metode penyuluhan; mediapenyuluhan yang tepat, menentukan isi penyuluhan, rencana evaluasi dan jadwal pelaksanaan.Dengan melakukan sesuai tahapan tersebut, diharapkan dapat dilakukan perbaikan-perbaikan yangdibutuhkan demi memperoleh suatu penyuluhan kesehatan masyarakat.
