  • EXERCISE 1

A peripheral milling operation is performed on the top surface of a rectangularworkpart which is 500 mm long and 70 mm wide. The milling cutter, which is 50 mm indiameter and has six teeth, overhangs the width of the part on both sides. Cuttingspeed = 5 m/sec, chip load = 0.25 mm/tooth, and depth of cut = 5.0 mm.

    Determine :

    (a) the actual machining time to make one pass across the surface; and

    (b) the maximum material removal rate during the cut.

  • EXERCISE 2

A peripheral milling operation is performed on the top surface of a rectangularworkpart which is 750 mm long and 60 mm wide. The milling cutter, which is 40 mm indiameter and has four teeth, overhangs the width of the part on both sides. Cuttingspeed = 5000 mm/min, chip load = 0.15 mm/tooth, and depth of cut = 3.0 mm.

    Determine :

    (a) the actual machining time to make one pass across the surface; and

    (b) the maximum material removal rate during the cut.

  • EXERCISE 3

A face milling operation is used to machine 6.0 mm from the top surface of arectangular piece of aluminum 0.3 m long by 80 mm wide in a single pass. The cutterfollows a path that is centered over the workpiece. It has six teeth and is 100 mm indiameter. Cutting speed = 70 m/min, and chip load = 0.15 mm/tooth.

    Determine :

    (a) the actual machining time to make one pass across the surface; and

    (b) the maximum material removal rate during the cut.

  • EXERCISE 4

A face milling operation is used to machine 3.0 mm from the top surface of arectangular piece of aluminum 500 mm long by 180 wide in a single pass. The cutterfollows a path that is centered over the workpiece. It has six teeth and is 100 mm indiameter. Cutting speed = 3 m/sec, and chip load = 0.35 mm/tooth.

    Determine :

    (a) the actual machining time to make one pass across the surface; and

    (b) the maximum material removal rate during the cut.

  • Tata cara pengerjaan tugas :
